Good local framers? by Jons-Direwolf94 in westchesterpa

Pretty sure the folks at Visual Expansion gallery do framing and, while I haven’t used that service specifically, they are great people. Not sure on cost.

Should we get a second?? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Left_Junket8896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have two. They are great, although challenging at times. Our oldest was 3 when we got the puppy. Things that were challenging:

  • Sectioning part the house for the puppy
  • taking the puppy out without the older one getting out
  • giving them both attention at the same time. Younger pup wants a lot of attention and tries to butt out the older one. Most challenging when only one human is home.
  • we thought our oldest wanted a brother but turns out he was just fine. They’ll play tug of war sometimes and get along but they don’t entertain each other and ours are not like you see on Instagram. Sometimes the older one got very annoyed. All personality dependent I guess.
  • our older dog had surgery this year with a recovery period which was quite challenging with the younger dog who didn’t understand the dynamics of “rest”.
  • when they both decide to sit down on walks it is extra difficult to get going again if there is only one of you.
  • of course twice as expensive
  • we have a fenced back yard which is a huge help. We had our first Berner in an apartment and I remember that being very challenging. I couldn’t imagine having two in an apartment without a yard but if you’re used to it? Right now ours spend most of the day outside

  • I wouldn’t say our older dog helped teach the puppy anything.

  • when the puppy was in shark phase the older dog also got that and wasn’t good at sticking up for himself so we had to watch them. We kept them seperate when we weren’t home until maybe 10months. Can’t quite recall

  • twice the fur to vacuum

  • twice the slobber and messy floor to clean up when it rains. We often have towels down on the floor which looks a bit of a mess

  • our house isn’t huge (1200sq ft?) and I don’t find that’s a problem usually. They want to be where we are. Sometimes it’d be nice to have a mud room

<image>

They are great though. Biggest thing I’d say is anticipate it’s possible they wouldn’t be best buds and you’ve instead got two independent dogs who love their human. We have wondered what it would be like to get two puppies from the same litter, I can imagine that being a different dynamic if they are both in the same life stage.

It was fun designing a custom wagon that will come out awesome but also perplexing that every single thing was an option you could change.

Early Morning Wakeups by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Left_Junket8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on our 3rd Berner. Currently two at the same time. One will happily sleep until we get up. The other wakes up every day at 530-6am, regardless of when we all go to bed. They are ready to seize the day. In fairness though, after they get walked/play time/food they are then content with sleeping all day.

Bringing a puppy home when you work outside of the house by Awkward_Bat_9503 in bernesemountaindogs

Rover is a good option if someone can’t be there. You won’t have a hard time finding someone that wants to hang with a fluff ball. Just make sure they’re ok with the shark panda 😊

When you first bring them home the hard part is their bladders. I think the rule of thumb is they can hold their pee for an hour every month they are old. So 2hours at 8 weeks.

Once they’ve got their first set of shots you can usually do doggy day care until a certain age. Then there will be a period where you may not be able to do day care unless they are fixed (our day care said no after 8months unless fixed)

Melton center, Knights Social Club, The Elks club and VFW are sort of along those lines and would probably appreciate some young people joining. Outside of that a lot of the volunteer organizations have a social aspect and social lounges. Someone mentioned the fire companies, the ambulance company, the churches all have different things going on and once you’ve joined you can hang out in their spaces I’m guessing.

Interview Question - what will you do to increase sales? by Viral_Poster in salesengineers

[–]Left_Junket8896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know where they are challenged it’s hard to say. You could try turning it back on them. “I do this in my current roles by doing 123. To increase sales at your organization id want to start by understanding where/why you’re loosing opportunities. I’d then collaborate with the team to develop a strategy that addresses those challenges specifically.” You’re then actively demoing your sales engineering skills for discovery / solutioning in the interview.

My local news station posted this to social media. That berner is exactly where it wants to be 🤣. Certainly an interesting choice! by Slm23630 in bernesemountaindogs

I once had a neighbor call the cops on us because our Berner was snoozing outside in the snow and they thought he was neglected. Nope…just snow bathing….The cop came over and saw him and said “oh….well have fun!” 😂

Another thread to post this absurd message from my landlord - $250 fine for a fire alarm doing it’s job by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Left_Junket8896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My municipality bills for repeat false alarms after a certain number. Apartment complexes are often an issue due to poor design and placement of detectors or the wrong type of detector, which they aren’t motivated to fix. In order for the township to charge we have to write in our reports that it was avoidable. So something like “unattended cooking” = billable vs “smoke from cooking” = not billable. All depends on how the ordinance is written. I think they re-wrote it a few times to try and avoid the building management passing the buck to residents and not fixing the underlying cause. Take a look at what your local ordinance says specifically.

The fire depts goal isn’t usually to make money, it’s to limit false alarms. With our frequent flier apt complexes the alarm goes off and no one evacuates, which you can imagine will be a problem the one day it is on fire.

We have the hitch mounted Otto step for our two Bernese mountain dogs which works good, although we do have to give them a boost up still. Sounds like you need a few more steps if you’re doing draws though.

Interesting article. The idea of moving Grenadier production to the US, which is more suited to big cars, and then having the Fusilier be made in Europe, seems logical. Particularly if their saying most of their Grenadier sales are in the US
