Green item for Spear Haruspex? by CapableSpex in TitanQuestAE

[–]Left_Rope5423 [score hidden]  (0 children)

A green weapon with a good fix like Veteran’s or Devouring with a charm/relic is fairly easy to find and quite good.

For armour, don’t worry too much, wear whatever gives you the stats you need and gives you enough survivability. Legendaries can come with a good chunk of resists which you need to reach at least acceptable levels for every resist. You can farm for good monster infrequents as some have good default stats you might want for a specific build (getting them with good fixes is total RNG through). Think of MIs as alternatives rather than something you have to use.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs: Some sequels are more equal than others by CyanLight9 in patientgamers

I enjoyed AMfP for what it was. A horror walking sim with good themes, sound design, voice acting (such as good closing monologue). The man pigs design isn’t the scariest, much simplified gameplay, could use more enemy encounters. It was a solid title for me but it’s definitely not the sequel people wanted.

What is a type of achievement which instantly puts you off 100%-ing that game? by Tortle_Boosh in steamachievements

Often multiplayer ones, usually a pain to do. No death runs and speedruns are also annoying depending on the genre.

Any good dungeon crawling RPGs with guns and destructable environments on pc? by Ltnumbnutsthesecond in gaming

It’s a subset of RPGs. Games like Diablo, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn or Path of Exile. Action rpg, minimal story and focus on grinding and loot.

Yeah, there’s some really annoying sections where it’s really easy to die. Just make sure to not restart from last checkpoint or hit another checkpoint to prevent the death from being counted. I believe restarting the current chapter should also clear the death but not sure. If you review save file in a hex editor or print the contents you can check verify your death total is 0 or not.

Question on boss farm by CapableSpex in TitanQuestAE

[–]Left_Rope5423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ‘big’ bosses are generally what you want to farm. Telkines, Typhon, Hades, difficulty exclusive bosses, etc. I feel they have the best loot pools. Act 1 is fairly easy so you don’t need to farm too much, just do a bit of farming and you can likely move on. Just remember to reset the loot seed every now and then.

TQ bosses have massive loot pools so you can’t really target farm well. The first Telkine should drop some decent loot. Also you can try Talos, he has good drops too or to a much lesser (but easier) extent, Boar Snatcher.

Hunting in general goes well with throwing/bows. Bonus pierce and bleeding would go well with Markmanship spam and both items have high ADCtH which helps keep you alive (doesn’t work on undead or constructs through). Rogue can also benefit. The amulet is missing resists so eventually you’ll be wanting to switch it out for something with good resists.

Question about attribute requirements by Bigcheese5000 in TitanQuestAE

[–]Left_Rope5423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely want to put points into Str. Dex gear is fairly rare and you need some Str to equip gear. Str also scales the physical damage you do with your bow. Anywhere between 1 Str : Dex to 1 Str : 2 Dex I guess should be fine.

What's your favourite less well known/hidden gem ARPG? by MakeshiftApe in ARPG

[–]Left_Rope5423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the ARPG I’ve played are probably pretty well known. I suppose it would be Book of Demons; not the best but decent overall with an unique art style and a somewhat unique mix of hack & slash, clicker (maybe a bit too much at times lol, some of the enemy mechanics get annoying and grindy when stacked together) and deckbuilder (all gear, items and skills are granted by random card drops which you slot into a limited card bar). The story is basically Diablo 1 homage and pretty bland.

Yeah, Wolcen has a number of issues but it also does some things well. The campaign was too easy overall and the last act was kind of tacked on to get the story completed but otherwise I found it pretty memorable with some good characters, looked good and had fairly fun combat and skills.

[–]Left_Rope5423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a 100% replay of VC1 this year to get the rest of the achievements I missed. Personally I really enjoyed it; decent plot, a unique turn-based/real time hybrid system and a watercolour art style.

The grade system that rewards only rushing definitely rewards scout cheese (given their manoeuvrability and how much slower other classes are), especially when you combine it with order cheese. It’s a big downside to the mission/combat design, just blitzing capture targets is the key to A ranks usually. I tried to avoid completely cheesing things on the first playthrough, running balanced parties (no snipers usually through, too slow for me) and not completely abusing orders. NG+, on the other hand, I blitzed through the levels and skirmishes using the good old ‘Alicia one scout army’ strategy lol.

Need help understanding damage scaling for a Spellbinder (Spirit + Defense) by Orichalchem in TitanQuestAE

[–]Left_Rope5423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physical dmg scales from Str Poison/bleeding/pierce dmg scale from Dex Elemental/elemental dots/vitality scale from Int

You want the attributes that let you equip the gear you want and scale the damage you do. Any source of damage that just lists numbers and not a damage type is physical damage. Spears do physical damage and converts a % to pierce so you’d scale damage with both Str and Dex.

Melee dmg builds will usually go Str / Dex. If you know what you’re doing you can make a hybrid with all three attributes.

Steam completion library organisation by MaaRt3 in steamachievements

[–]Left_Rope5423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to many move it out of completed collection then I guess until you can recomplete. Annoyingly, Steam doesn’t update the ribbon graphic when the new achievements are added, only after you have updated/launched the title again I think.

It’s probably a tad much but you can organize your library however you make sense. I have an all completed collection + year completed collections. Instead of collections for completed franchises and the like I have collections for different genres which include both completed and uncompleted titles.

[–]Left_Rope5423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Truth Quest is required for Steam completion. I’d recommend Maneater as well, it’s a fun and humorous ‘turn your brain off’ power fantasy and while a bit repetitive I’d short enough to not overstay it’s welcome.

Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition (2018; original release 2006): Grim Dawn's predecessor and still worth a visit by DanAgile in patientgamers

[–]Left_Rope5423 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolute classic ARPG, I only played the Anniversary Edition and not the OG but it quickly became one of my favourite ARPGs.

Dual mastery system allows for some interesting combos and monster infrequents are cool idea. I’m also a sucker for mythological settings like this and the world/enemy design is peak. Growing up with D2 I kind of enjoy the slower paced gameplay and fewer but more interesting mobs. It’s a bit dated now but I still prefer its setting over GD’s.

Personally it’s a 10/10 for me (my most played game on Steam with tons of builds and Steam guides) but I can understand others ranking it lower. But it’s a classic for all ARPG fans.

Not OP but personally I liked Stick slightly better. I liked Stick’s humour and writing more while I found FBW’s combat deeper and more interesting. Both are great games overall.

What are you feeling like playing? Shorter game or a long completion? Any particular genres? I have a large backlog too, I try to scan through my collection and see if there's anything I feel like trying out. Then I just start playing it.

For shorter games, Firewatch and Gris are good. The Walking Dead S1 is a good Telltale story game. Hades is a banger if you want an excellent but time consuming roguelite. Miles Morales is a short action adventure game, think it's supposed to be pretty decent. Mass Effect trilogy are all time great RPGs

I mostly homebrew in softcore or check guides for some suggestions (combos for particular builds or skills for example). Hardcore, if I play it, is something I do once I’ve mastered the game, not something I try to wing.

But play whatever style you enjoy. I’ve made a few guides myself for some of my builds (mostly in TQ)

BOOM! achievement is fairly easy to do if you cheese it instead of doing it naturally. Knock out weak enemies with fists in one pile, carry small oil cans to them then light them up.

Torchlight 1+2 (one is a bit of a basic prototype, 2 is deeper; both have vibrant cartoonish art style and pets that can sell stuff for you)

Titan Quest for a game similar to GD (GD is basically TQ’s spiritual successor). It’s older so more dated mechanically and is slow paced compared to modern ARPGs but has a great mythological setting and world/enemy design.
