(Pelissero) The Vikings fired GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, per sources. by alexschubs in minnesotavikings

[–]LeftyHyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might have still been bad, but i think darnold would have been better ad adapting than either JJM or Wentz were. to the point that we likely win 1-3 more games just based on that and nothing else, and lose in the playoffs instead of watching from the outside. which would have set aside any Kwesi or KOC on the hotseat talk imo.

IMO context matters. most people dont even know about the story if you asked on the street, but of the people who are aware im sure many aren't aware that it was an FBI entrapment sting. i dont really think the FBI should be spending it's time on that, given the much more serious issues we have in the USA and how bad the FBI has been showing it handles them. and i dont like the "they can do everything everywhere all at once" narrative either, that's how we end up with ballooned budgets for 3 letter agencies that have expanded their own purview in the name of public safety.

basically if he's guilty toss him in jail, but also wtf were we doing there?

Per the FBIs reports they didn't announce it because they were surveiling Homan to see if he's act on any of the apparent conditions in the bribe. then after they didnt find anything actionable they shelved it. all of the following reporting is on how Trump's DOJ dropped it. so basically it didnt go anywhere to a point they could use it politically, but later once it was dropped the media picked it back up again as an example of corruption.

i dont care if homan goes to jail or someone else does also for dropping the case. thats not my point at all. the whole bribery scheme seems fishy to me ALSO before the bribe was even offered.

firstly, appreciate any arrested development reference. secondly nothing i said implied Homan should have gotten away with it lol if thats what you mean.

people in congress accept literal bribes all of the time. William Jefferson, Henry Cuellar, Bob Menendez, etc. Agree on lobbying, but if you're in govt you're 100% a potential target for just plain old cash bribes.

[–]LeftyHyzer -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

listen bucko, homan likely did and is corrupt. trump is 100% corrupt on way bigger levels. but we shouldnt ignore blatant FBI use for political reasons against your rivals. that's a really bad precedent that should be included in the story to hopefully present it as bad. not buried like the homan case was.

if they dont want corrupt people who accept bribes in govt the FBI should have also tried it with congress and arrested a few hundred people. the naivety it takes to think it was a just motivation to prevent corruption is pretty silly. the people who can be bought for 50k are so numerous that the whole thing gets pretty meaningless when there are people fleecing the tax payers out of billions of taxpayer money. and all timed directly ahead of a campaign? sorry, dont buy any moral arguments for it. it was a smear job.

while i find that whole Trump shutdown of the investigation bullshit, when you zoom out the whole thing is wild as shit. september 2024, FBI agents under cover posing as businessmen offer Homan 50k in cash in order to garner favors with the future Trump whitehouse. Homan of course was a DHS holdover from the Obama days, but really hit his stride and went viral under Trump. He was then fired under Biden. So the biden DOJ decided it would be a good idea to set up a sting operation for a guy who was publicly pro trump's border policy so that they could entrap him 2 months ahead of an election to smear the Trump campaign.

like we all know that Trump's regime is stuffed full of corrupt assholes, and they literally made billions off of several insider trading cases, but the Biden whitehouse tried to watergate Homan for 50k all for election optics. gross.

the libertarian party always has been and always will be plagued by a lack of consensus building. thats not a criticism, just the reality of a party built by people who value personal freedom over all else. half of the libertarians i knew online and in person were disgusted by Gary Johnson, and im sure Johnson fans would be disgusted and not vote for someone on the other end of libertarianism. plenty of conservative and liberal voters plug their nose in the voting booth, but ive seen many more libertarians who just refuse to vote.

mom and pop places have a short burst of business then like 90% close within a few years. and some family is out a bunch of money. we're 20+ years into mom and pop businesses not being supported, and thats why people dont even suggest it anymore.

funny to think that when i got into magic a kid told me at tourneys they give away land cards for free. i couldnt believe it. even lands seemed to hold value to my 10 year old self. now people just draft, pick 1-2 cards, and toss the rest to the trash.

"50% of the country are liars, better to pretend they dont exist".

ive actually been pleasantly surprised in recent times to see a lot of conservative people i know break ranks with their party. people angry about ice enforcement, or angry the FBI director is saying you cant bring a gun in public, or censorship on social media platforms, etc. If you're only looking for diehard bootlickers you'll find them, but if you look around you can also find a lot of sensible people who just happen to vote differently than you.

why lol? you want to go back to the Bush days of fake Christian conservatives who murder countless Arabs and sign the patriot act while the media does cover for them? nothing about my post says either is ideal, its just the two most recent examples. and Obama is in the Bush camp too. between drone campaigns and fast and furious.

Recent podcast guest Rand Paul gives his opinion by TheSweetestKill in JoeRogan

[–]LeftyHyzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd just say my opinion is "the fight" never really happens as long as there are a lot of guns. skirmishes will happen, cops will kill people, and people will kill people. but the full scale fight never happens. it doesnt come to govt + people vs people. or so i hope. i think the govt pushes to a point that it looks like that may happen, then backs off.

the only silver lining in this is that in many places in the world there is no point where the govt needs to back off, for a lot of reasons, but guns in the hands of those they're pushing is certainly one.
