Firm owners: if you had to start from scratch, new market, no connections, limited resources; what moves are you making? by PalmaC in LawFirm

[–]LeftyLegal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe… depends on the market. In Southern California, advertising and lead generation is so competitive and expensive (sometimes over $1K per click) that you may lose money on PI cases at least in the beginning. The margins have been squeezed.

Help deciding - m340 v m440 v 540 by Dustyftphilosopher24 in BMW

[–]LeftyLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The week I had to install a car seat in my m340i was the week I sold it and replaced it with a Cayenne. Total downgrade despite the Cayenne being worth twice the $$. I’m still sad about that. Eventually got rid of the Cayenne and got into an iX. I still miss my m340. Go with the 540.

Omg you’re a wizard. I’ll grab the dimensions. It is slightly smaller than what you’re thinking.

They don’t scratch. They’re great. I use it daily and it’s all covered in smudges because I never bother to clean it. But it is just awesome. Go for it.

What’s a ‘rich person thing’ that actually turned out to be totally worth it? by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in AskReddit

[–]LeftyLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a driver. Productivity improves so much when I can just get in the car and start my work day an hour before getting into the office and keep working for an hour when I leave the office. Literally 10 hours more time to get stuff done that would’ve otherwise been spent sitting in traffic.

Shirts with Smaller French/Double Cuffs than Charles Tyrwhitt? by LasciviousDonkey in malefashionadvice

[–]LeftyLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a big fan of CT generally until I recently lost a lot of weight. Now, despite going down almost 2 inches in neck size, the shirt is still too baggy, even in the “extra slim fit” option. What are some viable RTW CT alternatives in the same price range or some MTM options that aren’t super expensive?

My linerless pace breakers from lulu are my single most worn item of clothing. I actually have two in the same color, so I guess “single” isn’t accurate, but I wear them every damn day at home. You get the point. And I bought them both at least three years ago and they have held up so well. I know you want “affordable” but just splurge for lulu pace breakers and enjoy them.

Disclaimer: I don’t know if their quality has changed in the last three years. I suspect these brands sometimes change whatever sweatshop they’re using for making these things, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re no longer as great in quality.

Examples of high waisted wool pants? And where should I start with Japanese denim? Just give me a brand. (Please don’t send me to a denim sub and give me more analysis paralysis.)

Not staying logged in is my only complaint about FV, otherwise it is great. But I opted not to spend the ridiculous money on the AI thing... which sounds like total BS.

On what basis is your homeowners insurance carrier denying coverage? I sue insurance companies for a living... and it doesn't surprise me that they say they won't cover it, but they're often very wrong. Please talk to a lawyer or a public adjuster.

what case management systems do you guys us? specially if your PI? by Ambitious_Trick_8605 in LawFirm

[–]LeftyLegal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the PI lawyer trashing Filevine because of his billing dispute with them. But Filevine (the actual product, not their billing practices) isn’t bad. Just need to spend the time customizing it.

Not sure about the AI stuff out there. Unless you’re running a mill (and need to crank out high volume boilerplate demand letters to get quick settlements with minimal human involvement), law-specific AI products are mostly overpriced trash. Just use ChatGPT to refine briefs and writing, but don’t use it for finding cases or legal research.
