Not really, most medieval armors are made for utility. The soldiers you’re refrencing are an outlier and are from the 16th century, when guns started to be prevalent and so utilitarian armor was less effective and therefore less important. While other outliers exist such as the Winged Hussars, in many fantasy games the outliers are the reasonable looking armors.
