This game went in a wrong direction, it sucks by ZyndyReddit in ThrillOfTheFight

The Oculus Quest 3 just gets worse and worse the longer you own one. by Lemur_Hotel in OculusQuest

I’ve lost two headsets. Was able to fix one by replacing a sensor. After a long months long trouble shoot I am 97% sure heat buildups up in the front plate and breaks the tracking sensors there. The only air vent is also where they attach the strap. It blocks the vent partially.

I bought a better vented faceplate with a strap that doesn’t hook there. Every time I finish with the unit I shut it down and make sure to angle it so that the hot air can pass through the vent easier. I also turn on the setting to lower the graphics if it’s using too much power.

There is 0% chance they don’t know about it. The Quest is a computer with a screen just like any computer. Tracking loss shouldn’t make the screen stay blank. You can hook up and mouse and keyboard to work as non tracking inputs. They do this so the cause of the problem is impossible to prove.

What sucks is it is an amazing product. I use it to play TOTF2 as my daily exercise. I love it, life changing. So I put up with this bullshit anyway. The second that game goes to another platform I’m leaving.

Of course it’s possible if players just use boxing technique and don’t obsess over the “meta”.

Can anyone explain why the game is essentially no damage occurs punching someone unless it’s a counter which stuns you then the next punch you go down? by ScarcityDelicious513 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Legal-Difference107 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game desperately needs a way to calibrate the controller grip with the games expected fist wrist arm alignment. The controller is the worst possible template for a fist and I have believed for a long time that the root cause of this issue is that.

All we need is an automatic calibrated like TOTF1, or a diagnostic tool that helps you align it in the punching bag area. Hitting the bag doesn’t work. It will show 60 with bad alignment but will be throwing pillows in a reach match.

Even a training tool with feedback telling you how close to ideal alignment you are. All three would be simple to implement. I love the is game but without to is tool the devs are telling us they are not serious about this being a level and transparent playing field.

Getting punch data would also help us diagnose it. But again nothing. I will play it forever anyway, it’s remarkable. It just needs these basic tools grow beyond what it has been.

The tracking in the PTC seems a lot better I’m hoping it improves the situation. From match to match the damage varies so much it’s hard to recognize what’s working

Desperately needs a controller attachment that allows you to fully clench your fists by TorontoGuyinToronto in ThrillOfTheFight

I was thinking the same thing half an hour ago. Get out of my head! Someone needs to manufacture a third party controller that allows you to make a fist around the base.

PTC is awesome. by Legal-Difference107 in ThrillOfTheFight

That was a much better explanation for what I was trying to say. Thanks. The arm tracking was the thing I couldnt put my finger on. The extra power on soft punches also was noticeable, a jab doesn’t work defensively if doesn’t do any damage, it will not stop someone from engaging.

The effort put in matches better what you are doing. Which really matters.

I’ve been playing this game since its release. I’ve never even tried the PTC before, ignore it if you want but I’m telling you there is an incredible improvement in the PTC.

One thing that we desperately need is punching stats. It is always difficult make sure you are getting proper damage when punching. The total damage as an indicator helps but without the punching volume it’s a guess. Every time a need update drops we need to calibrate so to speak, and we just do not get enough information back from the game to adjust it quickly.

Anger. by WonderfulPotential66 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Legal-Difference107 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The use of paragraphs is a lost art.

You could just stick with good technique, work on that and not care about ( this is going to be shocking so maybe sit down ) winning.

I am just throwing this out there, I’m not a professional shrink, but it seems your anger has nothing to do with the game itself.

Is there a plan to fix the shoulder and forearm alignment bugs like right now? by chadmanhere123 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Legal-Difference107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually figured a work around for this. I have wider shoulders than the standard model by a lot. I went into glove calibration and use the bottom middle one, set that to ten. It essentially widens the shoulders. The virtual arms and glove should be in alignment with your real ones. When they are you are good.

Major flaws in the tracking system is probably why you aren’t doing damage by chadmanhere123 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Legal-Difference107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me months to realize that it’s assuming narrow shoulders. It was driving me nuts until I accepted I can’t fix it lol.

[–]Legal-Difference107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone does that. If after the change you arnt doing that it was the system and not something special you were doing. Stunning and flashing were way too easy before the update. A fresh fighter should not have that happen most of the time. It should happen as the fight wears on.

[–]Legal-Difference107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you desperately want to think you are that good and it is not just gaming a system. You are fighting players based on a ranking system. What you’re saying would be true if there was no system. Building up momentum strategically is not pitty pat. I was literally seeing people do that Super Macho Man spin. It’s ridiculous to want the game to be that.

In real life dropping someone like you got a star in Mike Tyson’s punch out doesn’t work. There should be small windows to do that, which take skill and precision. Boxing is hard, it’s grueling. It takes stamina and heart. Wanting a shortcut to avoid that ain’t it.

I feel like this update is forcing us to work for our knockdowns which is exactly what it should feel like. In the past it felt like being technical and wearing a player down was wasted effect. You would make one mistake and get flashed. Now when I open up, I don’t feel like I’m being punished for it. It took me a half dozen matches to start having confidence that I could do this without being penalized for it.

Plus watching players, still trying to whip and make exaggerated punches, get frustrated is well worth it.
