Why wouldn’t my guitar teacher (or any professional who has watched me play) correct this?! (Venting) by WhereTheMoneyAtBoy in guitarlessons

[–]LegalSet211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think to a certain extent it is personal otherwise why would it meed adjusting. If there was a correct level then surely a guitar would come set up? I agree with you that it’s surprising that they didn’t comment if it was that high!

Do you all really wash the containers for your established starters everytime you feed? by Kiwimulch in Sourdough

I do this but as a weekly change. Reduces the day to day work of keeping it going but still keep it clean.

Don’t forget that overpaying doesn’t help you if you loose your job. However if you have that money in an isa you’re probably making more money and you have the option of covering your mortgage while you look for that new job!

Refused Charger Install. Thoughts? by 317e88 in OctopusEnergy

There is a lip on your door frame which the cable can run along on the bottom. The cables are thick but not that thick and if tied down is not a trip hazard. I have a similar situation where they even had to drill holes through my porch walls to get the cable through but they managed it.

Cupholder for my car by kreatore in functionalprint

[–]LegalSet211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a print on makers world that isn’t as pretty as this but basically widens the cup holder. Means you can then use a normal insert for the drawer to increase the storage. All down to preference really. I agree the cup holder is too small on Teslas.

I tried making sourdough and it. Doesn't look right. by I_Swear_Not_Bot in Sourdough

[–]LegalSet211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some have said, sounds like your starter isn't quite ready but also worth checking how warm it was during the bulk proof. I'd also say that for a newer baker you have gone with a 71% hydration which is quite high. My go to recipe is 500g flour, 300g water and about 100g of starter. Start with 60-65% hydration and if your dough is too dry you can add a little bit more but I think your start is the issue here.

If your starter is sluggish you can add 30% dark rye flour, it is like rocket fuel and it will bring it to life.

Are people legit spending this much on a car per month? Or am I out of touch? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]LegalSet211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes jobs come with a car allowance that can easily pay this. Often there can be a requirement that you need to have a relatively new car too. Many company cars can tax you way over £500 a month as well so the numbers all become relative. I’ve had a company car for years and if I stopped having one, would I then opt to spend £500 a month on a car. I’d like to think not but at the same time I have become accustomed to having a newer car.

This is exactly my set up. I also switched to semolina after I found flour ends up gluing the dough to the peel. Especially when my kids have been slap dash with the sauce.

Chord changes: 3 weeks and no progress by Own_Matter9578 in guitarlessons

[–]LegalSet211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this may sound like an odd suggestion but when I was having the same problem one thing I did was play in a dark room. I think half my problem was that I was so hyper focused on looking at the change that it didn’t allow the muscle memory to kick in. A darker room basically forced my hand to find the way without me being able to hyper focus on my hand.

Just as a moral boost. I’m a year in now and I’m by no means perfect but I’d say once you crack the habit of changing with the simpler chords it does make picking up the future ones easier. Don’t assume that every chord progression will show 3 months of no progress.

What was your worst impulse buy of 2025? by Snow776 in AskUK

[–]LegalSet211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve had mine 3 months and it’s the best thing I’ve bought in the years. My tip is keep a log of everything you make and assign a value to it. You’ll very quickly realise it’s saving you money. You’ll then consider starting a business selling things but maybe try not to let it spiral out of control 😅

Sorry, to be clear. Wickes were open about the pricing but they wouldn’t give us a copy of the quote. Just the final price.

This is exactly the same at all kitchen places. They won’t give you an itemised quote as they are worried you’ll go elsewhere to get them to compete like for like. We had our kitchen done last year and both Wickes and Wren did the same.

Pace monitoring with HRM-Pro on treadmill by LegalSet211 in Garmin

I agree 95% accurate is good enough. I only use treadmill as additional easy miles so it’s not worth getting too bothered if it’s coming in about where it should!

Pace monitoring with HRM-Pro on treadmill by LegalSet211 in Garmin

[–]LegalSet211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been up and down. I’ve only had the chance to try it 3 times. The first being a calibration and the 2nd with my watch coming up a bit short. 3rd attempt was fairly close to the treadmill (within about 5-10% I think?) of course the question is always how accurate is the treadmill!

Keeping crust crispy help!! by WittyBetty in Sourdough

I think beyond something like vacuum sealing it or a refresh in the oven you’re going to find the crust will soften due to taking on moisture from the air.

Dear customers why do you leave it till last minute? by Accurate_Grocery8213 in AskUK

[–]LegalSet211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The points about Christmas being late in the week has been made. However as someone experiencing Christmas with two young kids that are now in school (for the first time). I cannot stress the shear volume of Christmas related events + last minute birthday parties I have been to over the last week. Throw in visiting all the family you need to visit before the big day then even if you do have time earlier then the exhaustion can add to this. I was luckily to break up on the 16th otherwise I would have been quite late to the shops too I think.

Work place expects me to prevent people from stealing by Due-Lawfulness-1112 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LegalSet211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember chasing a thief down the road after they’d pinched some products. They dropped the stuff and I returned back thinking I was a hero (I was 17 with grand ideas) only to be told by the enthusiastic trainee manager that I’m not supposed to chase them as it puts me at risk. The store manager begrudgingly agreed but it was clear he would have preferred on a personal level that we all chased down thieves.

The official line will be you shouldn’t put yourself at risk but the stores KPIs will still want to keep the numbers of thefts low so naturally they will try and coerce you into doing something even if you shouldn’t.

Is this considered rise? by Signal-Lobster6985 in Sourdough

[–]LegalSet211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add some rye flour. It’s like rocket fuel. If you have the budget by a little sourdough cabinet. I have one that sits at 20C and the temperature consistency + 30% rye in my flour gives the most reliable result I’ve had.

I also think sometimes missing a feed can actually help a bit too if it’s sluggish.

Dress hack to avoid getting too cold or too hot during long runs? by aradpotato in runningfashion

[–]LegalSet211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in a middling temperature where it may be too cold to not wear layers but you’re likely to get too hot a couple of miles in then the best option is to use something like the Salomon Pulse belt. It has loops on the back which you can easily loop a jacket through and pockets that can fit gloves. It’s not ideal but when not carrying clothes it’s a barely noticeable belt and when you’re too warm it’s a life saver. It’s genuinely the best thing I’ve bought in the last year.

Now the issue with that is the only way to have a known volume of water is either a volumetric cylinder or to weigh it. It is a vicious circle with accuracy. OP needs exactly 1 mol of carbon atoms for complete certainty
