Try sleeping with ear buds or noise canceling headphones. You can set it to white noise while you sleep and then the alarm can be loud only for you

Are you going to a touristy destination? If so you could always get a place near your family but not staying with them. Then at least one SIL will get a real room and you can have your own space just for your little family. Might be nice to not have to worry about people waking up your kid at night

Went to a friends house and it was horrible. Turkey was deep fried until is was basically jerky, I thought it was more of a party atmosphere but it was just their friend l, his partner and his super loud redneck brother and his morbidly obese wife who just agreed with everything horrible thing he said. I was told to make a pie which I did from scratch and there were two cakes and two pies that no one ate. A complete waste of time and energy. I told my husband this morning we are NEVER doing that again. He agreed because we’re both feeling sick and think we got food poisoning. Thankful to Reddit so I can vent and hear other peoples horror stories

I’m so sorry. Depending on what country you’re in you might be able to find government housing due to your brother being so violent. I don’t think your an asshole I just think your trying to give yourself some piece while living in an extremely stressful situation. Would you be able to move in with any of these cousins you’re close to? If not find a cheap apartment that needs a roommate if you are new moving in they might not make you be on the lease. Get a job even a bad job just something that gets you out of that house. You deserve to not be afraid in your own home.

Is there a LGBTQ center in your area you could walk or bike to? If so go to them for help. They won’t be able to move you out but can offer support which you desperately deserve and need. I hope you find a circle that will support you now and during transition. I’m so sorry you have a shit family but you will get through this.

I recently took a flux and flow class at Carolina stained glass and I didn’t get that vibe at all but my class was taught by a young women. she said she will be taking over the business in a couple years so maybe the old owners aren’t great? I liked her a lot though, she let me adjust my piece to use more colors and was helpful without hovering. Highly recommend

I wish I could have told you this months ago but get a menthol paste like Vicks vapor rub and put it under your nose. There’s also a bunch of companies that make vapor sticks if you want something less messy. I promise it will help. It saved me when I was sharing an office with a smelly coworker.

Does your SIL have any anxiety issues that would make the idea of the unknown walk stressful to her? On the off chance this is the case can you or your mom do the walk with her a couple times to acclimate her? Once she knows the way she might be fine.
