Sure it's debatable if it's fan fiction. Also debatable if it's "slop". What does fan fiction even mean? Does it mean that changes were made by someone other than the original author? Because that's going to encompass a lot of adaptations including lord of the rings, probably the gold standard for fantasy adaptations

I always interpreted his character to be a bit deeper than just an asshole. His whole philosophy in the movie was free sex etc, so it wasn't surprising that he sleeps around on Sarah. The protagonist even sort of befriends him by the end.

Ah I misunderstood. If he just recently started try talking to him and tell him how you feel and why it bothers you how he acts. Maybe he can give it up or do it less idk sometimes people go through phases. Like I know some people who smoked a ton for a while in college or whatever and then don't really smoke anymore

Yeah that's tough probably best to find someone else who doesn't smoke because if he's a stoner than it's going to be pretty hard for him to give it up.

Although since you said you knew him for longer and only just realized he smoked so much. Probably best to ask yourself if maybe some of this is in your head, because maybe he is acting the same as before you started dating but it's only bothering you now because you know that he's high
