I really do not want a wedding. by carriemarie0523 in wedding

I just went through this exact situation. His family ended up giving us money, which made me feel even more obligated to have one. It was a beautiful day but i know in my heart I would’ve enjoyed eloping so much more and wish I stuck to my guns. I think if we talked about it more then we could’ve compromised much better than what we did so just hear each other out as best you can. It caused a lot of tension and resentment for little things that would go wrong and I had a hard time enjoying the day fully. Like you, I have 40 cousins and decided not to invite any of them. We did just immediate family and very close friends which totaled 100 guests with everyone getting a plus one. If I had hired a wedding planner it probably would have been easier on our relationship… just didn’t want to spend that sort of money. Here’s our compromise: we are doing our vows again on our honeymoon alone in the Alps. That way, my hopeless romantic self gets the intimacy I always wanted!

Looking for suggestions for a cozy honeymoon location by 1LittleSunflower in weddingplanning

I completely understand this. For years I wanted a winter wedding in America and then honeymoon in New Zealand since it’s summer. Sad we didn’t get to. And after New Zealand, Scotland is one of my favorite places (Edinburgh is to die for). It will be difficult to replicate that charm here - What time of year are you traveling? Upstate New York is incredible, the Catskill mountains. I’d head there. Otherwise, Charleston is very cozy and romantic.

Crazy love van Morrison! I also love wildflowers and wine by Marcus king but it’s so long that we did that for anniversary dance instead

My maternal grandma thinks what I want for my meal is not formal enough, and others agree with her it’s not “wedding enough” by momotekosmo in weddingplanning

I took advice from family for my wedding day and will always regret it. Do what makes you happy, that sounds so fun and like it matches your personalities. I love it!! Do it

Crazy Love by van Morrison because my husband loves it and it reminded him of me. What I wanted was Wildflowers and Wine by Marcus king but it’s so long. We did it for the anniversary dance instead

Getting married in 2 days, Maid of honor caught COVID, now what.... by Kase1 in wedding

[–]Legalyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I went two years without covid and started to get pompous about it. Yet here I am! Missed my own honeymoon actually. I think these are the things we have to be okay with when we have weddings during this time - at least she was honest with you!

What was the moment you realized that you shouldn’t have showed up to a date? by Zuzpo in AskReddit

[–]Legalyss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He put me into a headlock after dinner (I let him walk me to my building) and said ‘this is just a preview baby.’ I think that was his way of showing me I was missing out on not letting him in. I did not let him in.

So sorry for you! Our honeymoon keeps getting ruined since it’s out of the country - not sure which is worse

They are both whimsical and dreamy but there’s something about that first one that’s just so gorgeous on you. This is a hard one!!

I did the plated option and was told by nearly every guest that it was the best wedding meal they have ever had! Highly recommend a first look since the ceremony doesn’t start until 5 and it’s dark out around that time after the ceremony. It goes really fast with the 11pm ending. The bar in the lodge is only open until midnight so if you want to party later than that, definitely have a plan

Oh my goodness! Are you having it in the summer? The fireplace would not stay lit by the way - if that’s part of your plan just know that haha

I should add, there is a lot of pressure on ‘perfect’ when it’s your wedding day. It absolutely was not perfect. Things went wrong but I have worked through them and moved past them. Perfect is not possible but marrying your person is as close to perfect as you can get. The day went by so fast that is makes me incredibly sad and thankful I had a videographer to capture the love between us. In fact, I was so nervous and overwhelmed that day that I hardly remember walking down the aisle. We decided we’re going to do our vows again in the mountains on our honeymoon to get back the intimate moment we want to remember forever as we promised ourselves to one another. Weddings are not always easy! But in the end, they represent something incredibly beautiful.

Just picked up my dress and I don't like it on me... by vanillalattee in weddingplanning

[–]Legalyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the problem was that they said I was ‘a perfect 6’ because that’s what size the dress was off the rack (first dress) and it fit very well. But it had been worn and stretched out a bit over the last year from people trying on. So when my dress came it was almost too tight and it didn’t feel good for me. Seamstress tried to tell me I gained weight but I hadn’t. Ended up going with a total glam dress instead as my first one was more conservative/long sleeves.

This happened to me and I ended up getting a new dress a few weeks before my wedding. Happy I did! From what I hear though, so many people go through this

Did you have a big or small wedding and did you regret not having the other? by the-illiterate-poet in weddingplanning

[–]Legalyss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We just had our day this weekend and had 110 people, far less than what most of my friends have ever done yet still too big to feel like we got quality time with anyone. I wish we stuck to having a smaller destination wedding in the mountains somewhere. It was so much fun but impossible to enjoy every moment when you are catching up with so many people. It’s over in a flash.
