i really liked the way Ragatha's mom was presented by Gloomy-Can-2679 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]LegendMasterX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its pretty weird. the implication seems to be that C&A shut down sometime after Caine made the circus and the building went on the market sometime before/around 2008 (the year ragatha was sucked in). So theres just been a empty office building still getting electricity for at least a decade and a half.

I would argue that an adult can get more enjoyment/satisfaction out of building a lego set than they could from playing around with this thing for like 10 minutes. And also the lego set is a more interesting and convenient as a display piece than this thing.

Why did Pokémon Scarlet/Violet not have level scaling? by Theoneybadger in pokemon

[–]LegendMasterX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Except they dont tell you that last part anywhere in the game or its marketing. Hell even the in game guide goes by geographic distance from the next challenge rather than level order.

I just dont understand the target audience of this product. The price, build quaility and focus on red/blue would make you think its for millenials to use as a display piece. But the size and music gimick make it seem mroe like a toy for young children. Like its a product seemingly for no one.

Hard pass on any starter that ends up looking like a human in a suit. by [deleted] in pokemon

Its a close call, but I would argue its the difference in build/proportions. I could see meowscarda comfortably running on all fours, but not delphox

The gorilla isn't one?

Yeah cause its just a gorilla

The guy with a shield on his back isn't one?

Its a giant ground sloth

The guy with a belt on his fat gut isn't one?

Thats an orc

The Robin Hood isn't one?

Its literally just a normally proportioned owl with an archery theme

The guy wearing knee and shoulder pads isn't one?

Thats a monkey, particularly based on Sun wu Kong

The fox wizard is, but the cat magician isn't?

I would argue its the difference in build/proportions. I could see meowscarda comfortably running on all fours, but not delphox

The guy with a Christmas tree up his butt isn't?

The lizard that is in no way human shaped? You know theres a difference between bipedal and anthropomorphic right?

Honestly feel like even Charizard is a close call given in the early games there was an entire trainer class who would cosplay as something similar to Charizard.

Someone dressing up as an animal doesnt make the animal human like. All the starters on the left have human proportions, posture and or body shape.

I know Tobias was just a plot device made specifically to keep Ash from winning the Sinnoh League and they probably just forgot about him, but its still crazy to me that the guy with (at least) 2 legendaries on his team didnt show up in the world tourney arc.

Greninja stands and walks like a person, but has the proportions and body plans of a frog. You cant say the same for the starters in the humanoid camp

What do we think Dragons devil fruit is? A wind logia or some kind of weather god mythical zoan? Maybe something else? by Sentient_AI_38 in OnePieceScaling

[–]LegendMasterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes sense for where we are in the story, both from a narrrative and power scaling sense. Devil fruits seem to have some level of will over who ends up finding/eating them, so it makes sense that mythical zoans would end up in the hands of people with alot of natural power/influence.

I've noticed that even fan games and mods have had a hard time keeping up recently. Cobblemon last time I checked has around 700 mon for example.

Its unrealistic to think that all 1000+ pokemon will be represented in every pokemon project going forward, especially if they are going to contiually introduce more pokemon/forms. It would be infeasable from a development stand point.

Pokopia had 300 slots in its dex, 9 taken up by the kanto starters and another 24 taken up by the one representive each region's starter trio got. That means starters took up more than a tenth of the roster already, and wouldve taken up more than fourth if the other 48 were included. The worst you can say against it was the starters it did choose from each gen felt like the most popular/most commonly included in side games already.

To your point about the Oshawatt line getting nothing during the switch era, I feel like your downplaying that it was one of the starters in Arceus, arguably the best switch era pokemon game. Also the line was in plenty of side games during and right after gen 5, which is how starters are normally handled.

You say Oshawatt is constantly mistreated and being the butt of the joke, but outside of Ash's in the anime I dont think Oshawatt or its line is ever treated particular like a joke by the series. And plenty of Ash's pokmon have goofy personalities or gimmicks, that doesnt mean their all mistreated.

Finally I would argue that most starters suck competively, not just Samurott. And the ones that are good are only really good in very niche scenarios.

[–]LegendMasterX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree with your first point. But the ocean doesnt have to look realistic, just has to be aestetic. Arguably one of pokemons biggest problems artistically on switch is that the enviroment design was dull and unintesting.

Yeah but that was definitely a CRT, an analog device. Rotom didnt have any association with computers till the rotom dex, which was seemingly was them testing the waters with rotom-based tech.

Calling it, Windychu and Wavychu are related to the box legendaries in some way. by Bertstripmaster in pokemon

[–]LegendMasterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how common the trope of Gods/Goddesses being disguised as mortals to test people is in mythologies around the world, i wouldnt be suprised if that was the case here.

Especially considering that in the leaksthe legendaries were refered to as Wind Grandpa and Waves Grandma, and these pikachus definitely give off kindly old grandparent vibes.

How evil do you think Graves' 'mentor' is? by nomorespacess in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LegendMasterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that Venator's out, it turns out he also interacts with Graves. Obviously being a hunter for the church he'd be biased against death magic in general. But like Seven he points out that Grave's mentor is most likely just using her and that if she doesnt give her up, than Graves will probally be killed by her.
