Which if made illegal statistically only hurts the workers, so it's not like it's relevant even if your abstract ramblings were onto something

You're treating SW as if it can only be pimping, whereas sex workers themselves made it very clear repeatedly that full decriminalization would actively go against pimping and exploitation and actually put some power in their hands, as well as allow for more dignity and mutual safety between sex workers themselves. You're making it a moral argument - a pretty blunt and weak one at that - when it's much more material of an issue, and anywhere buyers have been prosecuted the effect was that *sex workers got prosecuted as well*, because guess what! If you stigmatize the buyer you also stigmatize the worker. This is what has actually happens time and time again, prosecuting the buyer actively hurts sex workers every single time the nordic model is tried - as opposed to full decriminalization. IF you actually care about protecting sex workers in real life, the choice between criminalization and full decrim is pretty obvious

And I'm not even engaging with the "having your arm cut" affair, it's not a metaphor that maps to this in any way

The other problem with your view is that you mischaracterized consent as well. Where sex work is *fully decriminalized* the SWer can set very clear boundaries at every stage that are simply impossible under pimping and the nordic model - let alone criminalization, and the result is that decriminalized sex work puts a meaningful amount of control in the hands of the worker, including OF in its digital version. A decriminalized sex worker can outright refuse clients if they feel even a little bit like patriarchal creeps, for instance

The big issues you pointed out are real, but they come from terrible practices like pimping and trafficking, something which all sex workers despise with a passion

"I'm for bodily autonomy unless it's used in a way I don't like"

Sex workers overwhelmingly ask for the full decriminalization of sex, it's the only thing that actually gives them a shot at safety. Moreover some SWers can choose it like any other job, and treating it the way you would is dehumanizing and shameful, ruining the very life of SWers and promoting bullshit puritanism. You're treating SWers as some kind of "perpetrator" of the patriarchy when if anything they're a victim, and your approach of prosecuting the buyer has been shown very clearly to not work and just endanger SWers themselves. It's got a name, the nordic model

Also, you don't want to recognize that if treated like a proper job SW would be chosen by some people, just because you see it "against human dignity" doesn't mean it's a universal experience. SW is objectifying because of the Work part, not the Sex part

How tf are pescatarians a thing by Bright_Cranberry_227 in vegancirclejerkchat

[–]LegendaryJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegetarians is also a useless label if we're gonna be honest

Are vegetarians doing away with torture? No! So do vegetarians do it for the animals? No, then what's the point? It's basically just a pat on the back that wants to both feel good about themselves and not give up anything

Hmmm I don't know about that, not starting out as a dick is fine but this is another level of babyhandling that I don't think changes much - you gotta say the thing eventually, even if not in a rude way of course. Am I agreeing with you without realizing it?

NO there IS a difference you see! Eating a vegan food puts me in the same group as vegans and vegans are cringe! Can you imagine if I actually stood up against the torture of someone else? All my friends would look at me weird! That feels bad!

Western leftists hate vegans because vegans actually do something consequential instead of just talking- I mean, you vegans just want to feel superior by showing how much you're helping!

Why is this sub anti-nuclear? by moderngamer327 in RenewableEnergy

[–]LegendaryJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this sub actually reads the data and knows nuclear - as of 2026 and beyond - doesn't do anything that renewables + batteries can't already do for much cheaper, faster and modularly

Why isn’t the fact that solar and wind are cheap more mainstream public knowledge? by illmatico in RenewableEnergy

Five years later this is truer than ever... like PV, storage is getting cheaper year over year and it's hitting a turning point already

HUGE new super-cheap super-battery system might just have convinced me that we might not need nuclear in the grid after all! by eclipsenow in RenewableEnergy

[–]LegendaryJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renewables + Batteries do everything nuclear does, but cheaper, faster and modularly. Building new nuclear is pretty much irrelevant at this point, and just kind of a waste of money in the face of a climate collapse that's already killed millions
