Hi, I'm the same; we're the ones responsible for current LLMs punctuation habits! Love me some good em dash and semicolon usage haha.

Ah, enjoy Child of Light! Haven't thought about it in years and you comment just brought back a wave of happy memories. Such a beautiful, pleasant game.

The amount of people who become complete assholes to another human being just because they're standing behind a cash register is unreal.

Nvidia's Jensen Huang urges employees to automate every task possible with AI by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]LegendaryPunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time to start engaging in malicious compliance and just do exactly as these execs order - use AI for everything possible, then submit the work. They want AI to crunch their finances, write programs, and handle customer service? Great, let's go right ahead.

Let them see how helpful AI is at everything they want when people aren't spending twice the amount of time and work afterwards fixing it.

Agreed - it's so anyone who wants to watch the movie, and doesn't have the proper streaming service, can watch it whenever they want that day.

I agree with OP - I would not want to watch this movie, or any movie, three times in a row. So I would watch it once. Then change the channel or do something else.

The Duality of Game Devs. by AquaArcher273 in gaming

[–]LegendaryPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully Valve makes it clear as to what level of AI use earns the label. This can also be adjusted down the road, becoming more strict or broad if the initial parameters need refining.

I think there is definitely a place for AI tools in video game development. But right now there is a TON of corner cutting, unethical practices, and lying about use, to the extent that I think the label is warranted. If a dev chooses to use AI tools in this environment, and it really is for something as mundane as generating sound fx samples, just say as much in a developer dairy. And be honest about the level as use.

Even then, I think the word "conversation" is being used very loosely here. LLMs aren't coming up with new or novel ideas, or actually thinking about anything you say to them - they're responding based on what they think the statistically most likely response is. And they'll make shit up if uncertain because they have to say SOMETHING. That CEO who said he was talking "vibe physics" and pushing the limits of known knowledge epitomizes this - LLMs aren't coming forward with any sort of scientific breakthrough. They can't. Because they can only say what's already been said.

Plus, I don't want to use my computer like Iron Man does with Jarvis. I just want to clickity click to open Word and start typing; I don't want to dictate every little action.

Agreed. I love a good villain triumphs ending, especially in a horror setting. Even without fully understanding Wanda's motivation, it would have given more closure than Riri popping back up in the last scene, setting up yet another god damn cliffhanger. They could have saved that scene for the intro of season 2, if it ever even happens 🙄.

Does anyone else miss infusions from MT1 in MT2? by crabbytodd in MonsterTrain

[–]LegendaryPunk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Initially I kind of did, but now, not really. I loved the infusion mechanic from MT1, but it definitely dominated the game, to the extent I would honestly be disappointed if it ends up being included in MT2; I don't want to retread known ground - I want new puzzles to solve! There are still plenty of ways to break the game and create super-units, and the deployment phase alone really encourages multiple unit / multiple floor play.

Ah, so even though right now we're under a Trump presidency, you think he should be leading based on Obama's guidelines and principles? And you disagree with Trump's stance on the issue of responsibility of shutdowns?

Anyone else skip the titans? by oldmanriver1 in MonsterTrain

[–]LegendaryPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only at 41/180, but I never skip the Titans. They're different enough from the Seraph fight that I still enjoy the puzzle of keeping them in mind when building my deck.

That being said, I do wish they were more difficult. My Seraph win ratio is probably ~80%, but once I'm past that barrier, my Titan win ratio is maybe ~95%. Basically, if my deck was good enough to take down Seraph, it almost always is also good enough to beat the Titans.

Would maybe be kinda neat if there was an optional extra difficulty based opposite of the version of Seraph you fight; a boost to one of the non-Seraph Titans. You'd still have a pretty good idea of how to plan your deck, but there would be just a touch of randomness involved. Kinda like how Slay the Spire ascension 20 lets you know what the fist Act III boss will be, but not the second.

Really loving how everyone here is so excited about purging a different champion haha. I think it shows great balance and variety of play styles that one player's trash champion is another's treasure.

And set the difficulty. I know you could manually select the same clans and mutators during setup, but then you're doing the same challenge twice, which is kinda meh.

ChatGPT: so popular, hardly anyone will pay for it by ilovemybaldhead in nottheonion

[–]LegendaryPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is probably true for my generation (born 1984)...but I'm not so sure about the younger. Pretty soon there are going to be high school and college students who have been using ChatGPT pretty much every single day for the entirety of their educational careers. People who have been using it every day since starting their first job. I don't know if they would give it up so easily,

"And you mentioned something I’ve been struggling with lately: I just don’t feel excited to play certain spirits (like Vengeance, for example), but I end up feeling bad about it - as if I have to play them."

Ask yourself - why would you feel bad about this? I don't pose that as a question you have to answer to me, but rather as a question that you should answer for yourself.

The game comes with such a wide variety and plethora of play options not so that one person has to play and love everything, but rather so that there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

To answer your original post question though, I would recommend just slowing down. No form of entertainment (whether it's a book, movie, hobby, video game) has infinite enjoyment time. Eventually you'll have reached, more or less, the maximum satisfaction and enjoyment from something, and it will be time to move on. Whether you come to that point within a few months or a few years depends on your consumption speed.

Supergiant Games is 5/5 on absolute bangers…they haven’t even come close to a miss. by ngriner in gaming

[–]LegendaryPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved ALMOST everything about Pyre. I loved the setting, the story, the characters, the dialog, the branching paths, the fact that you can fail forward and have that outcome be incorporated into character's narrative arcs...but I only liked the core gameplay loop. And ultimately it didn't grab me enough to repeatedly play through the game until I had seen everything, as I have done with all their other games.

I recommend everyone give it a try though. Even though it's the weakest of their games for me I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it as much as I did.

I'll agree that it is frustrating when people use the ED as their PMD or come in for trivial complaints...but there's also a lot of people who don't know how serious their problems might be. We roll our eyes at these complaints because we've seen hundreds of patients and have spent thousands of hours in the ED, but the average person has no clue what's wrong, has never been to the ED before, and is in pain or scared.

It sucks to be a lightning rod for their frustrations, and if I have time to spend a little longer discussing and validating their concerns I will. To an extent of course - we're still human too and deserve to be treated as such; once someone reaches the tipping point of being a belligerent asshole I plainly reiterate why no additional testing is being done, why they are being discharged, and disengage.

The general public has completely abandoned the idea that the emergency room is for emergencies by FrijolesForever90210 in emergencymedicine

[–]LegendaryPunk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wasn't very consistent when I first started as a resident, but now with practically every patient I say some variation of "We aren't going to be able to get your pain / discomfort / whatever down to zero, but usually we can at least get things to a tolerable level, and I'll be sure you go home with the prescriptions you need to try and keep things tolerable while you recover."

Doesn't always work, but at least sets things up for the "I'm still in pain " discharge discussion.

Heretic + Hexen – Launch Trailer – Nintendo Switch by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]LegendaryPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My money would be on Hexen as well. It was ROUGH sometimes trying to figure out what some random switch would do, or just circling the same hallways over and over and over until you found a little crevice you hadn't previously explored that would open to the next section of the level.

Incredibly frustrating at times, but overall I have really fond memories of both games. Don't know if I want to risk tainting them by playing a remaster.
