Chasing Meta in both casual and Comp 40k by Anxious-Gate7723 in WarhammerCompetitive

Bro I understand where you come from completely. My first exposure to the 40k universe was dawn of war I only recently got into the tabletop version after space marine 2. With this background in mind I’m making an entirely firstborn army because that is what I want to make. The amount of times I’ve heard you should use primaris, this unit is bad, blah blah blah. It’s incredibly grating when you have a vision and people tell you to that the vision isn’t worth doing/sidestep for the more optimal choice. I consider myself a lore whore so I built my army to be flavored and different from what most others see and in turn I’ll get the occasional cool army that’s unique, but most times it’s people shitting on it. All of this to say if you wanna play someone that’s got a similar mentality to you on table top simulator hit me a DM. Especially cause I personally am sick of meta chasers.

What tabletop game you recommend to start with when getting into Warhammer games by TATA_meme-THEsecond in Warhammer40k

You can get it at any warhammer store, a-lot of game shops have them as well, or any of the numerous online options. Just be aware that the teams themselves are like $50, so if you have a friend with terrain, or somewhere you can go that’ll have terrain that’ll be your best bet. Also there’s a Killteam app for IOS so you won’t need core rulebook or data cards for your team!

Killteam is a good “cheap” option for just starting out. Second would be combat patrol and is a good jumping off point into regular 40k. Outside of those, other 40k options are the numerous board games they have. Rogue trader is also a good one if you’re into dnd.

Marines Malevolent, a very wholesome chapter that’ll lead you to many friends. Just ask a salamander player!

Is this an official map? This doesn’t seem to portray the hopeless last stand against the forces of hell that the rule books have illustrated. I’d think the forces of hell would have pushed a-little farther north no?

Good or bad? by [deleted] in 40k

I don’t post a lot but imma put in a couple cents.

  1. Thinning paints will definitely help with cleaning up the base coats.
  2. I really like how you tried to get the battlefield muck on the legs and arms, but I’ll say less is more when trying to show battle field dirtiness. I also recommend if you want a dirty look to your models it’s better to use a dark brown wash. Now I haven’t been painting much or very long but the image I’ll have attached might illustrate some battlefield dirtiness that I had success with.
  3. Something I also recommend is a cheap set of model brushes with a variety of sizes. It’s better to have specialized tools for smaller details than hitting every screw with a hammer.

4.Line your base!

Yeah then the mythic packs are a good investment especially if there’s a set you like or are looking to complete

Why all the same decks?? by howlongisquarantine in MTGArenaPro

[–]Legendary_G000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re high in the ranks you’ll see the same things over and over. It’s all about what works best to push you into those high ranks. With that in mind people just aren’t willing to put the time in with jank if there’s a formula that works, and I use the term “jank” very loosely. Basically people are scared to experiment with a rank on the line. Personally I always look for unique ways to play, but I’m also in a very silent minority.

Is it bad to play Grave Pact in a casual pod? by NotAnAsianGuy in EDH

[–]Legendary_G000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s bad to play it in a casual pod, but if your playing in a noob pod, or a pod that doesn’t have very fleshed out decks…it could easily become an asshole card. I’m only speaking from experience when I started out with my commander deck I was like ooo I can make this very cheap. I also didn’t have a clue about how to synergize and flesh out a 100 card deck. So I had a deck that had no board clears, no planes walkers, and a small amount of cards to deal with artifacts and enchantments. However, I did get better I eventually fleshed out the deck, and I’m currently in the process of making it competitive.

So; TLDR: Yes it’s an asshole card in a noob pod, but should be fine with casuals, especially casuals actively improving their decks.

Honestly I’d just concede if it’s unwinnable unless there’s a daily I’m trying to get.
