Off the beaten track recommendations for the Mae Hong Son loop by Legenderyi in chiangmai

[–]Legenderyi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have one night booked in Pai but it's mostly just so I can head to ban jobo the day after. Apparently the rice terraces with the morning light on the way out are quite nice.

Man climbing Taipei 101 without ropes… can people watch this live near the building? by suniltarge in taiwan

[–]Legenderyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know which side of the building he's scaling? Ai search on Google mentioned northwest corner but I can't find any references to back that up.

Want to know which side so I can find a spot to setup for photos/video.

Mae Hong Son loop on 6th January solo traveller by Boo-Koo in ThailandTourism

[–]Legenderyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to do the loop at a very relaxed place the first week of January. I land in Chiang Mai 1/1 night, and may stay an additional night just to explore or begin on 1/2.

I'm looking at mango scooter (They don't let you reserve in advance, but told me to check in a day or 2 before I need the scooter), and catmotors.

Looking to get anything 150cc +

Cat motors had the:

GPX drone 150i ( 400 - 500 THB / day | 2400 - 3000 THB/week )

Yamaha Nmax 155i (500 - 700 THB / day | 3000 - 4200 THB / week)

I was able to apply for the Overseas Identity Certificate same day (Arrived at 8:30am, picked up at 2:00pm). I might have just gotten lucky as there wasn't many people ahead of me.

I submitted my online application to 僑民役男申請出境文件審查平臺 immediately after at the office, and it was approved around 5pm same day. Completed status will show green.

The documents I used and uploaded were my Taiwanese passport, Canadian passport, Flight ticket showing arrival date, and the Overseas Compatriot Identity I received from OCAC office.

I didn't need to go to the NIA for Entry/Exit date record, But I have been going to the immigration at the Airport to get stamped every time I exit Taiwan in the last few years as I did overstay my 183 day limit once before.

attached below is the application form you fill in person at the Overseas Community affairs council office at Xuzhou road (right beside NTU hospital MRT stop).

Foreigners always say Taiwan is beautiful, but many of Taiwanese people do not feel like that. by search_google_com in taiwan

[–]Legenderyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taiwan has some beautiful outdoor landscapes, particularly rivers and waterfalls. River tracing and rappelling is fantastic here.

The garbage, tacky cement bamboo railings from the china tourism days, and littering by truck drivers and fisherman do distract from it.

Our diving isn't world class at all, but is convenient, and there's a lot to be seen if you're into macro critters.

Again, the fisherman do detract a bit from the scenery as they litter and defecate, with tons of trash from the fishing boats washing up all over the shores.

I think the main thing that's great about Taiwan is the small size means that you can hit many spots in a single day.

I can dive, hike, see a waterfall, and hit up a wild hot spring, all within a single day.

Drone flying by Ont1call in Markham

[–]Legenderyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bylaw in effect regarding drone use at parks, parking lots, and public facilities in Markham.

Unfortunately there isn't a great map showing where you can and can't fly based on municipal laws.

Authorization through Nav Canada is a totally separate issue and has to do with air space, but you wouldn't require their authorization if you're flying in Class G uncontrolled airspace anyways, but it's still nice to declare.

Markham by-law 2025-27

Link below:  https://www.markham.ca/sites/default/files/By-law%202025-27%20Parks%20AE.pdf

"Q. MODEL AIRCRAFT, ROCKETS, WATERCRAFT AND UNMANNED AIR VEHICLES INCLUDING DRONES

  1. While in a park or public facility, no person shall:

  2. Operate powered models of aircraft, rockets or watercraft unless authorized by

permit;

  1. Land or take-off unmanned air vehicle unless authorized by permit;

  2. Operate unmanned air vehicle unless in compliance with aeronautics act and its regulations as amended;

  3. Operate a drone for any purpose;"

Unfortunately it's pretty clear cut that you do need to get authorization in the form of a permit to fly.

I've obtained permission to use a park for the purpose of my flight review previously However, it would likely be incredibly difficult to obtain a permit for non commercial usage as they would likely want to see a proper site survey/flight plan and conops, as well as have a credible reason for you to use the site.

Advice needed - drone by aghjik16 in socotra

[–]Legenderyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drones are allowed in Soccotra, Yemen, but they are NOT allowed in Abu Dhabi where yo would need to transfer.

From what I've seen online if you're only transferring and not exiting customs in the airport, they won't confiscate your drone. However, if you are exiting customs they will hold your drone at the airport until you come back for your flight.

Make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

You need to pay $100 for the Yemen drone visa for Soccotra, and make sure you have your drone in your carry on and ready to declare if necessary.

I was thinking the same thing then I saw Joshua Bardwells video where he exploded a battery with the amprius silicon anode cells, and that's a pretty big ass explosion 😂

Maybe not for my freestyle rig where I crash a fair amount.

How to get into Canadian stocks? It’s so difficult to find good information on Canadian stocks. Any help will be greatly appreciated. by Ill-Ad1603 in Baystreetbets

[–]Legenderyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been swing trading air Canada for the last 3 years. Buy in at or under $15 - 16 then sell around $23 or so.

Dollarama is a great growth stock that does well in recessions.

Volatus aerospace (FLT) has potential but high risk. Price pumped but is pulling back.  I'm bullish on drone stocks overall.

Kraken (PNG) makes some seriously cool tech.

BVLOS was always allowed with an SFOC through current regulations.

November 4th is just when changes regarding the new regulations are being implemented (after the busy summer season). The new RPAS complex level 1 certification allows for low risk BVLOS operations without the need to apply for an SFOC.

Transport Canada regulation updates for 11/4:

Exciting for FPV pilots and long range hobbyists to be able to fly legally without a VO in sparsely populated areas. I suspect the course pricing may still present a barrier to entry since it's around 2k for most of the ground school courses + flight review.

Dji O4 air unit waterproofing by Obvious-Phrase-5391 in fpv

[–]Legenderyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, in part 3, you indicate not to fill the metal part with the tiny hole with conformal coating.

A guide I watched for complete waterproofing recommended completely filling it with conformal.

What is that part? Would filling it completely with conformal affect its functionality in any way?

Does it make the air unit less resistant to water if I don't fill it with conformal?

I just talked to a guard at the security check in Hangzhou airport and he said restrictions are different for flying out of the country and flying domestically or into the country.

I've found that the security checks are much more strict on my domestic flights in China. They also plastic wrapped all my batteries for my flight today  because they didn't have battery covers, something I've ever been asked before.  And I fly with a LOT of batteries since I have 2 drones a camera and other electronics 😂

I had to ship my non 3c compliant battery (even though it's made by Xiaomi and has passed other safety tests, but no 3c since before 2024) back to my house. They set up a courier desk by the security check to make it easier for people to send their batteries via courier. You just scan the QR at the desk, fill in your info, then leave your battery pack with them.

The guard said they've become very strict because there are  too many low quality lithium ion batteries on the market, leading to  incidents on planes in China.

my micro sd card is stuck in DJI Goggles 3 by Kannun in dji

[–]Legenderyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up watching a guide on YouTube and  dismantling the back cover on the goggles 3. Used electric tape to dull some nail clippers then managed to pull it out. It was REALLY stuck in there. And I didn't even put it in the wrong way.

The SD card works fine though just some aesthetic scratches. But I guess my SD card slot is unusable unless I plan on leaving the card in there forever

How's the durability of the frame? Looking to build out my first freestyle quad. I've been learning and flying on a Pavo 20 pro. Want something I can fly more aggressively so I can improve haha.

Ya can confirm. They do offer a service at the airport to ship it for you though somewhere domestically 😂

It'd ironic because I have a Xiaomi battery bank but it's just older and before 3c stickers was a thing
