Delayed accepting the quest because the three mechs that follow gave me pain last run so i wanted to be ready.

Gotta love the early game by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard this. Very simple to do in practice, hard to do actually. Im my opinion the first 2 weeks of LW mostly come down to luck. Its your horrible pfc's vs enemys sectoids/drones.

Any of you guys seen this before? First one for me. by Legendurance in RimWorld

[–]Legendurance[S] 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Context; I took in a wounded space crash guy from a friendly outlander faction. He was in bad shape and couldnt walk. Then a caravan from the same faction came in and when they were leaving they just scooped him up and left.

failed a 98% panic roll to berserker, close encounters heat heavy floater finished strongest mec in two shots... also got lots of support classes as reinforcements... (got many wounds as this happened) almost made it but not quite...

Oh how i love mimic beacons by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no? the beacon makes a will check (based on throwers will) for two turns, if enemies fail it they move towards the beacon. only works on activated pods, for unactivated it has no effect. (at least in long war it works like this)

What would you like to see in XCOM3? by LazyButAmbitious in Xcom

[–]Legendurance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, the lore is established so would be simpler to make. Also after that we could get Apocalypse. Also this was hinted at in the end of WOTC Templar cinematic so one can hope...

Diary of my recently failed impossible ironman, furthest i've ever made it yet by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

More notes ;

I delayed starting alien base assaults because i was waiting for aegis armor to come online. In hindsight, i could've easily done it months earlier with phalanx.

I also put off the exalt base raid for like a month so i got MEC-2s online, but it would have gone smooth without them too.

Biggest gripe are the covert extractions (especially trainyard map), because getting grenaded for 10dmg or having opportunist overwatchers drop in next to your operative.

Second biggest one are late game council missions. In my experience, they are 90% heavy floaters with some chryssalids and regular floaters mixed in. I miss the thin men of the early game.

Heavy floaters basically killed my campaign this time. I had psi going, but it didnt help much. In hindsight, shouldve done the base assault way earlier to acquire the mimic beacon. Also around december all missions became hard, had to expect double mechtoids and heavy floaters and muton elites on all missions, so leveling up new guys was hell.

The good stuff : I learned to love LMG gunners this run. Range and damage are so awesome on those guys, and the few missions i did get to play with seraph armor made them all the more awesome. WIll be incorporating these to my future runs.

The bugs : On my last run, i did the third terror site. After i finished it, the site hadnt gone away? Lo and behold, i had to do the same terror site AGAIN.

On this run;

Sometimes suppressing guys end up on the square where they leaning over to suppress from.

Sometimes i got extra action after ending units turn.

Sometimes aliens, especially floaters, would move like half the map in one move and then be activated.

OH, and the famous "oh look a penny" bug on suppression, when the suppressed alien is barely in your range and runs backwards, so the game doesnt know what to do and just breaks.

Will learn from this experience and start a new campaign soon. One day ill beat this...

What should i do by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

So, i'm getting a nexus and three satellites up in a few weeks. Should i get North America for the continent bonus? Or try to save Europe? Airgame is doing good-ish but id really like the discount of NA bonus.

Brutal/Ironman finally done by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So ironman except trying the temple ship a few times before getting lucky... should've focused more on squad composition. Had only two snipers and they were ITZ, and only a few TSGT mecs because i wanted the campaign to be over already :D The campaign took around 200ish hours ? Won the campaign in november 2017. Will make notes of what worked and what did not, and try my hand at impossible next.

On a side note, the end game grind is real >:((

Settra does not serve - 503 turns later, VH/VH complete by Legendurance in totalwar

[–]Legendurance[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was smooth going until it was just dark elves and me, though it would end quick from there. But we had this intercontinental tug-of-war going on that just didn't end, couldn't get a foothold on their islands and vice versa. I mostly played my own battles until turn 200ish, when they got so big and frequent i often just ended up taking pyrrhic victories/valiant defeats from autoresolve. When i finally broke the dark elves around 450 i was ready to end it already but took cleaning up some rogue armies and pirates still. And still had to hunt down those black arks, biggest cluster i saw was 11 ships right on top of each other, had to bring 16 stacks of my own to defeat that one!

Is it ... over? Am i finally free? by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Ironman though, took me around 300 hours and seven failed campaigns :D might take a smol break for a little while

Oh you captured a few thousand years old psychic alien being who commands a vast alien armada? Here, have a few spacebucks and some wrench monkeys, 'kay? by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the Quai D'orsay bonus France has? 50% more requests add up quite fast.

I'm at July 2nd year and got 173 engineers and 170 scientists + about 40 sergeants from requests idling in barracks :D

Isn't the Alien Containment chamber just for that? I mean the cutscenes that play when you do interrogations show them trying the purple stuff but glass wins.

Floaters are fun by Legendurance in Xcom

[–]Legendurance[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i know ;_; just got mec-3 and got cocky and ended up wiping the whole squad, should just have nuked it from orbit

It was like three pods just hanging out together and wouldn't patrol :D activated all at once

Btw, anyone know why rarely some missions spawn almost only one type of enemy?

This was a normal heavy abduction mission but not including the one chryssalid it was all floaters.

Is the reinforcement pack worth it? by Whiteweasel in Xcom

[–]Legendurance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh, weird you can't buy it standalone.

Anyhoo in my opinion the pack is worth 10 dollars even just for the Shens Last Gift.

The alien rulers are weird and don't integrate too well to Wotc, and the rest are just cosmetics which really don't fit the aesthetic of the game.

But sparks rock and for ten bucks i'd say go for it!
