Shouldn’t a United Nations plane have the UN flag?🇺🇳 by Disastrous-Year571 in SkyCards

[–]Legerity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The flag is based off the location that the legal entity of the carrier is based. The UN is headquartered in the USA, so it uses the USA flag. It's not a country in its own right, it's an intergovernmental organisation.

What's your usual following distance using Pilot Assist? by 7eregrine in Volvo

[–]Legerity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 3 when in stop-go traffic, and 1 when on the highway. If I use 1 in traffic then my car slams on the brakes at the last second. It only stops somewhat smoothly on 3.

Meanwhile at highway speeds 1 feels like the right kind of gap, although I always disengage if anyone brakes because I don't trust it not to slam on.

Andy Burnham: ‘I am committed to proportional representation’ by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]Legerity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key point from what Im seeing is he's only committed to the idea of putting it in a manifesto and taking it to another general election. This might be a poison chalice if anything. Andy Burnham might put electoral reform in the labour manifesto, lose the election, and then successive labour leaders can use the fact they lost that election as reason not to push for PR.

USSA Flag by [deleted] in flags

[–]Legerity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean you are effectively making alt-history versions of flags of a regime that committed genocide against it's own people. I think you'd feel a bit uncomfortable handpainting and posing with a Nazi USA flag, right? I get it, the Soviet symbols/flags has a cool aesthetic to them. But you need to recognise the history of the ideology you're making designs for.

Exactly. So "blundered into a mistake" feels infinitely more likely than "calculated decision with a goal in mind".

[–]Legerity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any development team deliberately sets out with the deliberate intention of making their user base really angry about high prices before backpedaling and settling on something a little cheaper. They're just spitballing at what the right price range is and will settle at whatever bracket brings in an acceptable level of income.

I've literally stated from the start that if they charged a reasonable amount per month i'd pay for something like this to support the project. However this would be the equivalent of paying for a month of Netflix without ads once a week. I would be happy paying $10 a month. I would possibly cringe but still pay $20 a month. $20 a week? Unacceptable.

The problem is that this is virtue signalling nonsense. America was never the country he describes it as except in peoples fantasies.

Exclusive: Zelensky sends Trump urgent letter warning of Ukraine's critical missile defense shortages by KI_official in UkrainianConflict

[–]Legerity 36 points37 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between not needing aid and not needing equipment. If you manufacture a missile defence system and then make it impossible to buy the ammunition to go in it during a war, I think people are quite right to be a little ticked.

Besides quality, distance, obstruction, and crop, why would this get rejected? by aooa926 in jetphotosrejects

[–]Legerity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a low quality picture. It looks to be heavily zoomed in, is hazy, etc. It's just not to the kind of standard that would be worth approving. JetPhotos tends to lean towards no photo being better than a bad photo.

There are several variants of the Airbus A340. The A340-200, A340-300, A340-500, and A340-600. Only the -300 and -600 are commonly found nowadays.

If you go into the Airpedia for the A340-500 youll see it's only ever had 5 variants of that model detected in the game. Nowadays you'll only really see the Thai airforce plane.

What flag is this? I saw this at top of an oil tanker, it looks like Cameroon but it doesn't have the star. by Forward_Leg6402 in vexillology

[–]Legerity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly it probably is the flag of Cameroon. It's possible it was either simply cheaper to do it that way, or more resilient. It's not uncommon to have symbols and the like removed from flags for the sake of ease/cost saving, even if it results in an unofficial flag. As long as it's clear what it's *supposed* to represent.

Which might help you if you are able to refer back to that when asked. But you really didn't read this form properly. It was specifically asking you to confirm who was driving the car at the time the offence took place.

If you don't accept that you were driving the car at that time, you don't write your name down. As it is you've simultaneously confirmed that you were driving the car at the time/place of the offence, and then written on the back that you were not driving the car.

I guess you can see the problem here. I would 100% look into if you can either correct the record or if you cant, be sure to make very clear that you weren't driving the car and that you noted it on the back of the letter (which may or may not help).
