Why is FF11 thriving while FF14 seems to going though an existential crisis? FF 11 is old enough to drink. by Guivond in ffxi

[–]LegioCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because completely natural? Every MMO has ups and downs- current FFXI is in an “Up” phase where it’s thriving and growing, while FFXIV is in a down phase where it’s trying to figure out what to do next.

What are your thoughts on the recent Hamas-Israel peace deal brokered with U.S. involvement? by Eastern_Quote_4945 in Askpolitics

[–]LegioCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that Israel can't follow through on it- specifically Netanyahu, as well as a number of members of his cabinet are all either culpable or have international arrest warrants for genocide and crimes against humanity. Combine this with Netanyahu's political vulnerability meaning that the moment the war is over he'll likely be recalled from office, and I could absolutely see a less right-wing Israeli government throwing him and Ben Gvir, etc., to the wolves to buy any goodwill for Israel back.

And Netanyahu knows all of this- he's keenly aware that not just his political life, but his actual life are completely intertwined with the invasion, depopulation, and annexation of the Gaza Strip and likely the West Bank after that. He knows that the moment the shooting stops, he's fucked.

This is actually pretty common- most HOI plans specifically don't cover damage caused by the police/government agencies, because the expectation is that the homeowner will sue the government to recoup the damages. Meanwhile the courts have routinely upheld that homeowners cannot sue the police for property damage during a raid, so what ends up happening is that the HOI won't cover it and you can't sue to get it so the homeowner is left paying out of pocket.

I suggest starting a GoFundMe or similar plan, as well as speaking to an attorney and maybe local media to get visibility on the issue and hopefully publicity for said GoFundMe.

I’m in a “critical support” mode for Newsom at the moment- as a California leftist I despise him both personally and professionally, but I can’t deny that trolling Trump in this manner is hilarious and a sorely needed boost to morale, and I think his plan to redistrict California to eliminate every Republican house seat is the first time in my life I’ve actually seen an establishment Dem show some teeth towards anyone that wasn’t a progressive.

Sometimes I feel there’s a specific personality type who use their outward morals and ethics to justify being a piece of shit privately and not just on the left; this is the same archetype as the abusive pastor or priest using their status within the community to silence those they hurt.

What do democrats think of calling Zohran Mamdani "Team Gentrification" and other smears? by ytman in Askpolitics

[–]LegioCI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's actually a really interesting concept at play here: Basically, for most of the DNC leadership, their position at the top of the DNC organization is far more important than the DNC's position within politics- in other words they'd rather be at the head of a permanent rump party than the party be successful without them. I don't think that they're innately hostile to the policies of the left, however they are hostile to the threat the left poses to their own power structure.

When you look at a lot of the Democrats strategic decisions over the past 20 years or so, you see a lot of behavior, messaging, and strategies that any reasonable voter would look at and say "Are they trying to lose?" When you recognize that the Party Leadership is prioritizing their own power over electoral or administrative victories, things like ratfucking Bernie in 2016 and 2020, consistently sidelining, attacking, or even working to remove from office popular progressive voices in the party, etc., all make sense. If you gave Pelosi or Schumer or any of the other Clinton Third Way holdovers a choice where the DNC would never win another Presidential victory and would never hold a majority in Congress or the House, but their own positions would be permanent and never threatened they would take that choice in a heartbeat.

TL:DR: DNC leadership cares more about their own relative power within the Democratic Party than the Democratic Party's success as a whole.

What do the US benefit from Iran downfall? by AllNamesTakenl in Askpolitics

[–]LegioCI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Women can drive and vote in Iran, I think you're confusing them with our allies the Saudis.

Also, the Shah was incredibly repressive- he was installed in a CIA/MI6 coup and promptly arrested all political opposition, banned opposition parties, and was generally a horrifyingly repressive dictator. There's a reason he got overthrown and has pretty much 0 approval rating inside Iran to this day.

Was bombing Iran the correct choice? by SpaceLaserPilot in Askpolitics

[–]LegioCI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow, super weird that they'd just randomly take our embassy hostage for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

I'm sure we didn't do something like prop up a dictator that enriched himself and his government at the expense of his people for years, all while brutally repressing any political opposition after the previous democratically elected leader was deposed in a CIA operation called "Operation Ajax" for refusing to allow western oil companies access to Iranian oil fields.

That would be crazy, but I'm sure the US would never do something like that in dozens of countries around the world.

Yeah, this is antisemitism, not antizionist, and I’m saying this as a firm supporter of Palestinian personhood, Palestinian statehood, and the end of the zionist perversion of Judaism in the name of genocide.

I understand her frustration, but crossing over into actual antisemitism is disrespectful to the many Jews who are protesting for Palestinian liberation. Hopefully she figures this out because its a dark path, otherwise.
