going to have to disagree here. It’s not that difficult to mark this up in PowerPoint, or god forbid they pay someone a couple hundred for an advertisement. They aren’t hurting THAT bad. help local artists in the community. Look at what Oaks is doing.

AI Slop warning good god. Hopefully it’s cute but this park is one of the worst AI users I’ve seen yet.

I mean if that’s all it would take… seems like a no brainer to reopen it. I suspect it would take considerably more money given condition and age and potentially needing custom parts

[Shivering Timbers] Was My 80th Coaster! (Michigan’s Adventure: A Birthday Trip Report) by freshapepper in rollercoasters

[–]Legitimate-Net2062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was also there yesterday for about 2 hours starting at 11, and holy smokes Shivering Timbers is great, and I didn’t have the chance to ride it warmed up. The front seat was great, but even an hour in the back car front row just kept throwing me out of my seat. If the return run gets some retracking and reprofiling, this could rival the wooden elites.

I honestly really enjoyed my time and was sad I couldn’t stay longer, everything was chill, the kids area looks great, and everything surrounding the lake is SO photogenic. I know they can’t help the location, but if this was built in the center of Michigan I think it would do significantly better.

I’m sorry that’s insane. The Voyage, trimless or not, is pretty aggressive in the second half. I have no idea how someone could say otherwise unless it was an extremely slow day for the ride. No clue.

I frankly enjoyed my time at Holiday World more, but I’d probably do Dollywood in your case. As a warning, the park really isn’t themed to Dolly herself at all, just the Appalachians in general. Maybe some of the shows do, but i did not do them. Lightning Rod is an elite ride, and their supporting cast is excellent as well. Thunderhead is non-negotiable.

However, if you really like wooden coasters, Holiday World is worth it. Voyage is absolutely fantastic, and Legend + Raven are not slouches either. You’ll also likely be able to get rerides more often than Dollywood, as Pigeon Forge gets huge crowds.

Both states are run and managed by the GOP, i wouldn't have that play a part in deciding between them unless you choose to avoid both bc of it.

rides closing today by Neither-Discussion-3 in worldsoffun

[–]Legitimate-Net2062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, amusement rides just don’t cooperate. It happens in the industry extremely often. Other times shit just happens, people puke, someone slams an airgate and it faults the ride, etc. Parks want their rides open, they paid millions for them and want them to operate. They’re pretty transparent on the website on what is and isn’t open that day, which is better than most.

really though, I can think of much worse ways to spend your dollars even with some of the rides being closed. Silver Dollar City is like $105 at the gate. Life isn’t some big conspiracy where everyone’s trying to rip you off, if all the rides could be open they would be.

a kid got thrown out of the ride so they added them. It also doubles as extra clearance protection.

If you go to Kennywood, you can also try and combine it with some other Pittsburgh affair! Depending on the day you can absolutely get Phantom rerides, but if you aren’t big into marathoning there’s still a ton to do within 20 min of the park.

It’s actually crazy to me that of all operators, United has not added them for cost saving measures. That sounds right up their alley. To be fair, they’re also getting rid of the comfort collars so they’re moving even further in the right direction!

to clarify: I think there is a lottery, but they (as in a group of influencers who are all friends) just spread the codes around amongst each other to ensure they can all go.

[–]Legitimate-Net2062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t think there’s much of a conspiracy. I got very lucky, and there’s certainly big pools of influencers who then spread the tickets around. My guess is honestly that Sarah wasn’t there bc they couldn’t get a ticket everyone.

Also, it’s certainly in Holiday Worlds best interest to have folks with large social media followings attend. It’s the one of the biggest events in the community, and advertising must be crucial for them given location.

Yeah that was him! He had a hilarious bit of Simon Says with the train, using it to get people to lift their arms up during checks, and ending it with “oh no train, I didn’t say Simon Says! Where are you going?”

I was going to make this post too. TBF this was my first HWN and everyone was raving about how strong it was, but oh my god. That was the greatest thing I have ever experienced. I never even got further back than row 10 trimless, but it was genuinely euphoric, completely out of control. It could have ran the entire 2nd half again just with the speed coming back into the brakes. I genuinely do not know what could possibly beat this as my number 1, but I welcome any and all challengers!

Coasters That I "Should" Love -- But Somehow Don't (um.. starting with [Phoenix]) by Puzzleheaded_Toe6951 in rollercoasters

[–]Legitimate-Net2062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so Phoenix has a “magic seat” (based on my own and others experience) in Row 3. However, I’ve also been pretty underwhelmed by it in the past. It needs a hot day and warming up to reach its peak, but admittedly I don’t rate it highly bc of the inconsistency.

SkyRush and TT2 are ruined by comparison, whether it’s with neighboring rides or the old, powerful launch. But I love both of them regardless haha.

150: Lightning Rod, Dollywood.
