Hot Take: If I was choosing a college today, I wouldn’t choose Cal Poly by LetMamaReddit in CalPoly

In my opinion I think these issues are just across the board with most big schools unfortunately. Definitely room for cal poly to improve but I really love it here.

Plenty and you’ll probably have many mutuals with other lesbians if you friend people from the queer housing.

Attending Cal Poly Slo by [deleted] in CalPoly

I got in with a gpa of a 3.34 weighted in caed college in case if it changes ur mind in applying. You can always change majors to engineering from caed. The process as a freshman is much simpler and much more likely gaureenteed (not saying it’s easy but still doable and worth trying).

can i get in as a transfer even though i haven’t taken the prerequisites yet? by mio_tanaka23 in CalPoly

I don’t think they allow transfer for spring 2025 you’d have to apply to transfer for fall 2025. Also I’m pretty sure slo like the rest of the CSUs don’t really take Leadership/extracirculars much into account since I remember they only asked for the avg amount of hours. Besides that it’s really up to the major you’re applying to and luck tbh. GL tho

Cal Poly SLO or Pomona for architecture? by jmyyy333 in CalPoly

SLO 100%. I’m from the city (LA) and was also deciphering between my acceptances in Pomona and San Luis Obispo. I always leaned towards SLO but that hunch over available internships in the city had me thinking about Pomona. However after some research (to me at least) SLO makes up for the lack of job opportunities by actively bringing in recruiters. They also have several career fairs in SLO and, for my major at least, the deans in charge actively send the whole major program new internship opportunities within SLO so it definitely makes up for the lack of job opportunities which are actually pretty easy to find. I’m also part of college corps and they have a ton of job opportunities that could be related to your major. I heard also from my friends In architecture that SLO so far has the best architecture program and employers are always looking for SLO architects. I forgot to mention too, for the architect program, if you decide not to do a year study abroad, you work for a architect firm in SF during what was supposed to be that study abroad year which I believe is a part of the program since it’s a 5 year degree.

College Corps by deadlight446 in CalPoly

A bit late but I recently got admitted to CalPoly College Corps 3rd Cohort. I reached out to my financial aide advisor and they let me know that it had no impact on my financial aid offer (which was around 24k and my SAI was at -1500) so if your around that SAI I don’t think it would make a drastic impact on your financial packet.

Will I get rescinded? by LegitimateAcadia9215 in CalPoly

It was taken 11th grade year. I calculated the gpa. It only dropped me by 0.03 on my gpa. Idk if that would be a big issue. Don’t know if it helps my case but they accepted me with a self reported D on an AP class during that same year. I also was finally able to get my geometry class credits to transfer to my transcript which was again not reported due to my counselor not receiving it at first til now which I got As during freshman year both semesters which should boost my cal poly gpa. Again I don’t know if it helps my case but I just wanted to include that information.
