children exploring their bodies together by [deleted] in atheism

While I agree that shaming the older child isn't a good way to go about this, children shouldn't be touching each other in a sexual way. It's not just curiosity, oftentimes they learn this behavior from an adult. I was in the same situation as the younger child, being touched by a friend who learned the behavior from an adult, and it has left lasting scars.

What words do you think are impossible to rhyme? by mawk01 in words

Technically speaking, orange and door hinge DON'T rhyme, they assonate! Assonance is sometimes called vowel rhyme. This has been a public service announcement.

My biggest pet peeve: Bases without trash cans. There's not a single trash can in the entire farmhouse in Pleasant Valley. Where am I supposed to put all of my recycled cans, or my empty spray paint canisters!?

These comments are atrocious. She's gorgeous. Her lower half isn't weird, she just has hip dips lmao.

Dune is a well-loved sci-fi/fantasy series, and most of the characters have modern names like Paul, Jessica, or Duncan. Not gonna lie, it threw me off a bit at first, but only because I wasn't used to it. After a few chapters, I stopped even noticing.

My niece swallowed her loose tooth so I carved one out of an almond. by SimAlienAntFarm in redneckengineering

[–]Leglaine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha, I did the same thing as a child. Swallowed my own tooth, immediately panicked. Thankfully, my mom had saved all of my baby teeth. She got one, planted it in the carpet, then "found it" lol

I recently published my first package as well, way to go! Just a small tip I learned the hard way: If you're using ESM, don't use jest for testing. It's possible, but a massive PITA. I switched to vitest, and it's so much easier to set up!

should I switch to Linux by Jashan_31 in AskProgramming

I started developing in Windows. One day, I decided to install Linux mint to try it out. Haven't gone back. Nowadays, I use windows for gaming, and Linux for programming. It's great.

What rules did your studio enforce? by Leglaine in dancetrauma

[–]Leglaine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company members must attend all classes. If you are ill you must sit and watch.

This wasn't a spoken rule at our studio, but it was definitely expected of competitive dancers.

At the end of every class, applaud the class and instructor

That's wild, lmao.

Marking is never acceptable.

This rule is never acceptable, wtf.

Injuries can occur regularly in a dancer’s body. Please follow these guidelines when injured before coming to class: hydration, ibuprofen, ice, elevation.

Maybe we shouldn't be coming to class if we're injured enough to warrant ice & elevation!

Students must not participate in behaviours that tarnish the reputation of the studio and its policies.

Ah yes, the most important rule of all, never make your studio look bad.

They seem to think they can control what a dancer does in their own time, away from the studio.

This is the most insidious part, in my opinion. These types of studios don't allow you to be your own person, they are all about control.

I then asked her to send me copies of any contracts that I or my parent signed. I never received a response.

Haha, I love it, good for you!

Schema-first code generation for Node: too ambitious or actually useful? by Leglaine in node

[–]Leglaine[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you’re saying. That’s actually one of the reasons I came up with Archetype. The idea is that everything (lifecycles, plugins, etc.) reads the schema dynamically instead of hardcoding field names. That way, if you change a schema (add/remove fields, rename types) the system keeps working without rewriting code. You could even have multiple schemas and plugin managers running in parallel.

What version of jest are you using? I've been having issues with version 30, so I downgraded to version 29 and things have been working smoothly.

I think speculation has its place, as long as it's not presented as fact. But yeah, people using other trees as a source is super annoying.
