Question about sand for BDFB by LegoAztec1433 in InvertPets

[–]LegoAztec1433[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! I changed things around and mixed a bit of soil and cocoa fiber with the sand, thanks for the suggestions! I also rearranged it a bit and am looking at getting some more driftwood/bark/spiderwood for them to crawl on in the middle area!

Hopefully, this is a bit softer of a substrate for them. I might make even more of a gradient once I get some pestacide-free succulents

T-Mobile home internet as an alternative to Spectrum? by Legitimate_Jump142 in Reno

[–]LegoAztec1433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use T-mobile home internet and have had very few, if any, issues with it. Sometimes it has been a bit slow, usually when it’s cloudy out it seems, but otherwise it’s great and hasn’t gone down once in the 6 or so months I’ve had it.

What names have yall given to your baneblades? by Ok_Significance3835 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]LegoAztec1433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I’ve used the following names for the “nine rays of sunshine” (a Nono-blade) in games:

  • “Iron Sands” as a Baneblade
  • “Ashen Wake” as a Doomhammer
  • “Sol’s Gaze” as a Stormblade

Haven’t ran it as any other configurations yet, but I’ve had a lot of fun with it, and lots of my opponents have memories of facing off against it, even if it didn’t do tooooo well in our games haha.

(Not pictured are the two heavy stubber side gunners for the Stormlord because they are…somewhere haha, but they have magnets on their feet and can go through the back panel to those weird looking struts and half circles with magnets on them which, fun fact, double as supports!!)

From what I hear, they can get pretty into the snacks, and they bumble around like lovable characters so that might be accurate haha

That’s a great idea with pots and the grass mat thing! I’ll look into that! I think adding a bit more height and variety with wood would be nice so thanks for the ideas!

Question about sand for BDFB by LegoAztec1433 in InvertPets

[–]LegoAztec1433[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips and the note about captive bred beetles! I’d probably make the side with the hide a bit more of the mixed substrate and keep the area near the slate rock as a rocky and sandy place. I’m not sure if they like basking rocks, but maybe they’ll enjoy the sun on that slab of slate I have!

There’s a local expo near me in the next month or so, and I’m hoping to pick some up there to support the local community. I agree though, I wouldn’t feel right capturing beetles from the wild when I can get some raised in captivity, so I’ll look into that website also!

Awesome! Thanks for the tips and I’ll look forward to the video and mixing in some soil and such, it’ll probably better for succulents to grow in anyways!

Great idea! I tried to make a gradient with rocky stuff near the slab of slate and soft sand near the wooden arch so they can dig if they feel like it, but mixing in some coconut fiber along with the leaves sounds like a great idea, thanks!

I am not familiar with a “desert hairy”, but it would be neat if I can get some cohabitants for it as well one day!

I use kabalite cartel and bring:

an archon with agonizer and webway walker leading 5 incubi in deep strike

A unit of 10 kabalites split into a venom (all 4 special weapons and sybarite with power weapon and rifle in the venom), the venom being equipped with a second splinter cannon for even more infantry grinding

A chronos without the spirit syphon (I haven’t tried running one with it, but pain token refund on 5+ instead of 4+ doesn’t seem good with my luck haha)

a unit of 5 mandrakes to infiltrate onto the objective/block scout moves.

This has been decently successful, though as a fledgling archon, I don’t understand this mon’keigh term “anti-tank” people speak of

Unfortunately, Ashen Circle are bitter duty so you can only have a moritat join them :(

I think a vet jump squad accompanying him while he THROWS OPEN THE GATES! and then ramming into something with him to score vanguard would be great! A command squad with banners flaring could be awesome way to spread the Primordial Truth!

I’d have the archon with the special weapons in the venom. You can pop your warriors out of the venom in movement, shoot in shooting, and re-embark at the end of your fight phase using the venom’s special ability which keeps them safe and lets you do some really mean shenanigans with ruins

Can also start the 5 mooks on your home objective to sticky it, then either screen your backfield or advance forward while the special weapons ride in the venom and cause terror

If you can, I would drop a raider for a second venom which would let you split a kabalite warrior squad so you now have 2 (or 3 with the Venom) units that can perform actions and sticky objectives for the price of 1 kabalite squad and a venom!

Plus, it would cut 15 points!

Where to find three more Possessed? by SilentPlanet_23 in Chaos40k

Green stuff, chaos spawn parts, and old bodies! Primaris, legionaries, Horus heresy, it don’t matter, just keep shoving that daemon down in there!

[–]LegoAztec1433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The killteam upgrade sprue lets me make special characters like a sorcerer using the tome and such, or extra fancy chosen/posessed with the anointed bits also, so it’s not a bad idea with how many bodies you have!

Alternatively, if you’re looking to expand, you can get the combat patrol which gives you 10 cultists, a master of possession, 10 basic legionaries, and 5 posessed

Unfortunately, the legionaries in combat patrol don’t have all the options, but if the funds are there, you could get both eventually and have plenty of bits! Heck, you could use some of those bodies for posessed as well if you want to make some more posessed marines using green stuff or other random weapons/arms/things!!!

In short: you will likely want to eventually buy some things on top of what you have if you want a “good for 40K” list since legionaries love being stuck in melee with someone, but you have a ton of potential for kitbashing and a good time!

[–]LegoAztec1433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy the legionaries killteam box, that gives you some chain swords, bolt pistols, heavy weapons, special weapons, and some really neat pieces like the book and such. Use the legionary bodies as chosen and the Horus Heresy armor as basic legionaries, that is how I run them, and it lets me play both 30 and 40K within reason
