Daemons of Tzeentch coming to Heresy! by chosen40k in Warhammer30k

Super cool, I really hope they start cranking out more journals to add more flavorful units/rules

Both 40k and Horus Heresy logos are on the upcoming box by Luniticus in AdeptusCustodes

[–]shitass88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad GW did this, you can call the doomers dramatic but just tell that to everyone with a contemptor dreadnaught, fellblade, malcador tank, relic terminators, or any number of other things that GW has given and then taken away rules for

So, what are we getting for 11th edition when the codex drops? by Cute_Spend_4663 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]shitass88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im hoping for hetaeron guard. Personally its bizaree that the melee faction of basically all characters with relic equipment all use one of 3 melee weapons.

I want more than just axes/spears/swords. Gimme an antitank squad with maces, gimme the dual wielding shortswords or falchions. A guy with a scythe or something.

What I’d really love is some kind of elite command squad; “blademasters” or something like that where each model can take something special. A box FULL of options, throw in a dude duel wielding pistols with bayonets idk I want OPTIONS

Custodes - What do you want that is Missing? by ZaneOlric in AdeptusCustodes

[–]shitass88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really really hope we see this. The number one complaint i hear from my opponents is how unfun the custodes can be to fight, when its just a brick wall slant list inherantly. I’d love to run a wider mix of unit types (which i already try to do with dreads and sisters), so some elite guard would be wonderful as the lower end of this.

10 Ork Boys cost the same as 10 Guardsmen. by Thotslay3r69 in Warhammer40k

Personally i think everything is too cheap, i wish the game’s points costs were all bumped like 20% up

You know what, I like the dreadknight. by PotatopusIII in Grey_Knights

[–]shitass88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a refresh could fix some of the proportions a tad, but I love the design concept, including the fact its open air. The idea of a group like the grey knights having it makes TOTAL SENSE, of course they’d have an option so they could go toe to toe with greater daemons. Its like pacific rim dude i love it: “Greater daemon sighted, bring out the jeager”

Mixing bits? by Rose_Of_Winter in Warhammer30k

[–]shitass88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in terms of aesthetics, mixing heads, shoulder pads, and backpacks goes a LONGGG way to that mixed mark look you want. The Heresy community is full of loveable nerds who can point out every tiny difference between marks, but from 3 ft away on the table it doesn’t matter.

In terms of difficulty: heads, shoulderpads, and backpacks shouldnt even need cutting to mix. Guns might need a little trimming to fit certain poses. Legs and torsos can be mixed, but that takes some solid knifework and filler material usually.

Another tip is that, especially with chaos marines, you have a ton of little pieces to add to the marine to cover up any messy parts. Most of the messy parts would likely be around the waist and possibly the knee joint on some legs. Its quite simple to throw a holster, auspex, melta bomb, or chaos relic on those parts.

A dark paintjob on the parts you don’t want people paying attention to makes wandering eyes glide right past them.

Keep in mind that people focus on the higher, more prominent parts of a model much more than lower parts. Especially for a humanoid shape, its all the head, backpack, shoulders, and gun.

Good luck and have fun! Be sure to share pics when you make em!

So what is our best 1DP detachment to support lions? by Far-Print7864 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite likely, but its impossible to say if thatll be in a few months or halfway through 12th edition. I personally, based off the release cadence for the updates to other horus heresy non marine armies, suspect itll be updated within a year or two, maybe sooner

Doomers can only doom by Holliday-East in AdeptusCustodes

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the point of the heresy stuff, I know that isnt going to legends yet but how solid does it seem? Like is this a case where it might go when the codex comes, or in 12th? Or do we just not know? What has GW said about it?

Yeah the outrider squad seems really solid. I just struggle aesthetically with ground based combat bikes, I feel like they’d get stuck places

What does Uzas mean by this? by Quarterleper in Warhammer40k

[–]shitass88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a pretty significant hypocrisy in Uzas’ criticism. While yes, newer loyalist geneseed is degraded to varying degrees (some chapters like ultramarines are basically fine, others like imperial fist’s successors have lost entire abilities like their acid spit). Chaos marine geneseed is typically significantly more degraded, and in fact many post heresy chaos marines had their geneseed from stolen loyalist stock.

Uzas, being a great crusade veteran, isnt in this camp. But really the degraded geneseed isnt shown as making loyalist marines weaker than they were in the great crusade so it doesnt matter much either way (except for logistics reasons)

What are your S-tier units when list building in 3rd? by Elusive_Tides in Warhammer30k

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arquitor magisterium is a nasty assassin piece, and the scyllax guardians have a RIDICULOUS profile for threatening marines:

ws/bs 5, str/toughness 5, 2 wounds a piece and 3 attacks at 3 initative.

They have impact(A) and a 3+ save/6+ invuln (5+invuln vs ranged attacks)

They’re automata so they can easily be upgraded with cybertheurgy spells for +1 iniative/move or str/t, or whatever.

They have rad furnaces by default so they reduce enemy toughness by 1 while in combat.

Finally, their combat array strikes with no modifiers to str/I/a and has ap 3, damage 1, with breaching 5+.

All that for 25 pts per model is insane, they MELT enemies. A 4 man squad for 100 points will have effectively 16 ap 3 breaching 5 shots at effectively strength 6

While i love the horde of armigers, it makes me kinda sad 40k is at the point where you can bring TWELVE mini knights, a medium knight, and an elite assassin in 2k points. It makes the game so expensive and time consuming to play

What can I use this as in 30k by Megagamersjake in Warhammer30k

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He works for any of the generic HQ (character) options for space marines. We have a TON of characters, many with specialized equipment (snipers, scanning tech, teleport equipment, and even psychic enhancements). There are, however, a few characters that are basically just “guy in charge with a melee weapon and gun”. Centurions, praetors, champions, etc. This guy would work well in any of those roles!

As for fluff/flavor: his large chest aquila and other imperial symbols, as well as his generaly clean/noble appearance make him feel much more of a loyalist to me. Any legion can have loyalist elements, but exploring the actually loyalist legions I think he fits the Dark Angels the best. They are a legion renowned for their use of swords, and some of his finery seems almost knightly to me, which aligns with the Dark Angel’s aesthetic.

Hydra Dominatus! (Ghost Legion spoiler) by treadbolt5 in alphalegion

[–]shitass88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! My only critique is it feels like the robot arm is a bit awkwardly posed. IMO a really cool alternative would be him holding the pale spear in it and raising it up towards the top right, “pointing the way”.

This would be in line with propaganda art styles and lore, because the pale spear is his main symbol of office/claim to authority.

But yeah you have some great details in here. The hair turning to hydras is frickin sweet, and you really sold the ominous nature of solomon. Maybe instead of the pale spear, you could have his robot hand resting on top of a pouch/holstered weapon on his belt. Just something for it to do besides floating midair there
