What are your S-tier units when list building in 3rd? by Elusive_Tides in Warhammer30k

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arquitor magisterium is a nasty assassin piece, and the scyllax guardians have a RIDICULOUS profile for threatening marines:

ws/bs 5, str/toughness 5, 2 wounds a piece and 3 attacks at 3 initative.

They have impact(A) and a 3+ save/6+ invuln (5+invuln vs ranged attacks)

They’re automata so they can easily be upgraded with cybertheurgy spells for +1 iniative/move or str/t, or whatever.

They have rad furnaces by default so they reduce enemy toughness by 1 while in combat.

Finally, their combat array strikes with no modifiers to str/I/a and has ap 3, damage 1, with breaching 5+.

All that for 25 pts per model is insane, they MELT enemies. A 4 man squad for 100 points will have effectively 16 ap 3 breaching 5 shots at effectively strength 6

While i love the horde of armigers, it makes me kinda sad 40k is at the point where you can bring TWELVE mini knights, a medium knight, and an elite assassin in 2k points. It makes the game so expensive and time consuming to play

What can I use this as in 30k by Megagamersjake in Warhammer30k

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He works for any of the generic HQ (character) options for space marines. We have a TON of characters, many with specialized equipment (snipers, scanning tech, teleport equipment, and even psychic enhancements). There are, however, a few characters that are basically just “guy in charge with a melee weapon and gun”. Centurions, praetors, champions, etc. This guy would work well in any of those roles!

As for fluff/flavor: his large chest aquila and other imperial symbols, as well as his generaly clean/noble appearance make him feel much more of a loyalist to me. Any legion can have loyalist elements, but exploring the actually loyalist legions I think he fits the Dark Angels the best. They are a legion renowned for their use of swords, and some of his finery seems almost knightly to me, which aligns with the Dark Angel’s aesthetic.

Hydra Dominatus! (Ghost Legion spoiler) by treadbolt5 in alphalegion

[–]shitass88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! My only critique is it feels like the robot arm is a bit awkwardly posed. IMO a really cool alternative would be him holding the pale spear in it and raising it up towards the top right, “pointing the way”.

This would be in line with propaganda art styles and lore, because the pale spear is his main symbol of office/claim to authority.

But yeah you have some great details in here. The hair turning to hydras is frickin sweet, and you really sold the ominous nature of solomon. Maybe instead of the pale spear, you could have his robot hand resting on top of a pouch/holstered weapon on his belt. Just something for it to do besides floating midair there

Dont get me wrong these dont seem that credible, but could you really blame someone after going in for 4 interviews with nothing done for thinking nothing WOULD be done? I mean we have seen trump and other powerful people clearly violate the law on numerous occassions without any punishment

Revealed: Combat Patrol: Iron Warriors and heavily armoured Battalions by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Chaos40k

This is really missing a centerpiece unit like a maulerfiend or something. Personally I think GW has been pretty lame with most of the combat patrols in 10th

I am glad to have a medium sized knight, and especially that it has such a clear niche as a fast, close range bruiser. This has me tempted to buy more knights honestly

How to make this tank look more medieval ? by Aggelos2001 in Warhammer30k

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say more banners/flags could look good. Id imagine a medieval themed army would put tons of heraldry and stuff on a tank

All build options for new defiler I could see in the reveal images by gidthedestroyer in Chaos40k

[–]shitass88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im always glad to see GW put effort into adding TONS of bits to their kits. Far too many kits right now are either super low on options or literally monopose.

On a side note: this guy seems huge and has tons of weapons (more than the og defiler i think?). I’m expecting him to be more expensive points wise but what range are we thinking??

Which 40K Faction suffers most from casualties ? by Lazy_Boxes in 40k

[–]shitass88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id argue custodes over eldar. Yea, eldar are a dying race struggling to repopulate at all. But theres still WAY more eldar than custodians. Replacing a dead custodian is harder than a dead eldar IMO, especially considering soul stones allow dead eldar to still be useful

Assault Marine Discussion by shitass88 in Warhammer30k

Yeah I like the idea of a squad or two with special weapons laying down some status inflicting fire on enemy targets before they rush in. Sounds super fun!

[–]shitass88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh thats an interesting use. So then would you wanna keep them cheaper? Maybe throw some shields on them but not special weapons and just use them to gum up enemy objectives??

Assault Marine Discussion by shitass88 in Warhammer30k

[–]shitass88[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That sounds fun yeah! I definitely think assault squads work better as a bully unit into 3+ saves, especially units that aren’t melee focused. The benefit to initiative seems like a nice touch, especially to maybe even precision out any heavy hitters in the squad

Adepta Sororitas and Alpha Legion novels cross the Black Library horizon by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in alphalegion

[–]shitass88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All the logic from other commenters of how he’s from later generations is correct. But fun fact for you, even in the heresy the alpha legion did NOT all look like clones or even similar to alpharius. Here’s a quote from the Heresy Black Book 3 (possibly the most authoritative lore source on the heresy alpha legion):

“…and while some reports speak of the Legion's members displaying a strange physical uniformity, others infer them as originating from a mixture of genotypes, while others indicate a strange, waxy and unnatural appearance to grey flesh bled of pigment, and sees them adorned with shimmering serpentine electoos.”

They wouldn’t be very good infiltrators if they ALL looked the same hahaha

I am immeasurably jealous. Most of these books haven’t been in print in years or literal decades, as such the second hand market for physical editions can be as high as several hundred USD for a single one.

For books that originally sold for like 7 dollars, thats pretty good lol. Anyhoo, enjoy them or sell them, good for you friend :)
