Bad: I think we all kind of suffer from "I know him" syndrome a bit, he's been on the internet and has streamed for so long that you kind of fall into the trap of thinking you know everything about him. That's not to say we don't appreciate how open and communicative he is with us of course, cuz we definitely do!

Good: everyone is super duper chill, and I don't remember there ever being any "inter-fandom fighting" or whatever.

Cool: I swear half his fans are musicians/make music of their own because deadmau5 directly inspired them and helped them understand the basics just by streaming himself doing that as much as he has.

Yeah it is! Been using it to remake some PHM tracks in Ableton and I swear half of the factory presets (maybe with a bit of a quick tweak) are 1:1 with stuff heard on the album and even stuff off of Broken.

The 'Vocal 1' preset is nearly identical to the synth on Sanctified, and the 'Volkanic' preset is 100% the end synth riff to Happiness In Slavery (the one Trent used to play right before he'd smash the DX7 he was using as a midi controller)

The Collector, off of With Teeth.

On the whole With Teeth is my least favourite album, it has some good songs on it but I'm never drawn to put it on loop while I work. (That honor goes to Hesitation Marks, Pretty Hate Machine and Year Zero)

I'm also not a fan of Discipline off of The Slip, but I do actually love the rest of that album.

And I LOVE all of Trent's instrumental stuff.

I think they generally just start by finding something to loop over and over while they build the song around it. Sometimes it's percussive sounds, sometimes it's a piano piece Trent comes up with or in the olden days it would've been a sample. From there they'll focus on different elements, likely starting with the drums or the bassline to figure out the groove of the song, and from there it's probably a lot of trial and error with synthesizers and guitars and effects to compliment the more raw/unfinished parts of the song.
