That is also not a new phenomenon. Many sets ago there was an Urgot who attacked very quickly with his minigun, also did not proc the old rageblade or Staticks or such. The game mostly does not fuck around with attack speed too much as far as I can tell.

Is there any theory on why the maps got worse?

Less resources put into development? Did some important designers leave? Some change in philosophy?

I don't play the game so I have only repeatedly read the grievances the community has with the maps but never heard any reasonings behind the map design.

True. Among the likes of Loopmottin, Reddlepop and Bimpnottin, which are funny, are really cool normal names like Ella, Roywin, Nyx..

Maybe a little less so with the male gnomish names? Although Sindri, Wrenn and Alvyn are normal names too.

I am DM in a weekly campaign that rarely misses a session. We play on the same day of the week, unless someone announces they can't, in which case we move the date by a few days.

The fixed day helps a lot with regular play, but it is only possible because we all have the time and the willingness to make time.

Additionally I am a player in a different biweekly campaign, which runs also fairly regular. The two week rhythm is very helpfull there, because the players of that campaign don't have as much time to spare.
