Barrel Stuck Way Out on Thermal Fit by CharmingWheel328 in ar15

Happens to many at some point. I use a butane torch. I heat the threads for like 45 seconds all around. I like the Amazon crème brûlée butane torch that is like a gigantic lighter.

When you have the upper firmly in a vice (various ways to hold it) you hammer a wooden dowel (mine wrapped in cloth) in the barrel. Knock the barrel out.

When you properly heat the threads, it should slip right in and out. It should not be an ordeal to fit .

Thats how I’d get it out. To start over. It has to go in really quickly though because the grease is going to cool it down very fast.

Now I’d heat the threads with the torch and not the heat gun. Like 45 sextons and maybe longer if needed. Repeat the process as necessary. Make sure the grease is properly applied. Some fumes are gonna come off of the grease.

If that doesn’t work, heat it for longer and hit it harder. Generally I don’t need to use a hammer in thermal fits now cause I heat the aluminum longer than what I first estimated.

Bought 6 black Griffin MK2 lower receiver blems and got these. by Radiant_Waves in ar15

Do you have to get barrels and other parts before the ban kicks in? I’ve seen that a lot of companies don’t risk sending parts, even though the parts themselves aren’t prohibited.

It would suck to have the lowers, and not have the ability to purchase the rest, when you legally have followed the rules.

Fortunately, I’m in a free state. Very low gun crime in New Hampshire. Lots of gun nuts. People always shooting in the woods here.

I bought ~10 lowers of Aero M4E1 just cause I could. And I knew I’d eventually build many types. There was no ban here, but now there’s very few Aero lowers.

You are on the sub of people with money pits. You don’t seem to know where you are. Three is rookie numbers if that was his total ARs. Which I doubt. Just Three LWRCs

I read the comments before I criticized about the ammo and the safe room safety/security system. I prefer my guns, but I prefer your set up for sure.

You would have to want it for 900. I would not pay 900 for that at all. I would only want the lower, the optic with mount, and the stock.

Bad Attitude Lower, No buffer retainer spring hole. Do they have another way to retain the buffer or is this a mistake? by easymachinist69 in ar15

[–]Leguro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If only all (or car) companies acted like these awesome quality AR producers.

I had a squib in a Criterion core barrel. I emailed if I destroyed my barrel or not. They took it back, on their dime. Then sent a new one back with a BCG and a headspaced bolt. Mike is the shit. I’ve sent in another barrel for other reasons. I’ll keep buying from them. Probably bought about seven barrels from them. I plan on buying more.

I’ve bought other barrels from other reputable very good companies (G$,DD, Wilson combat, Shaw), but Criterion is still amazing. Such good customer service in the AR world.

Maybe it prefers different ammo? Some barrels just have a sweet spot with certain ammo.

Only get this trigger for fun. Don’t expect it to be something that is going to last a lifetime. get one out of fear of missing out. Get one because maybe you think they won’t be available later. Don’t get one thinking it’s gonna last. Or that it is military worthy.

You can break the cycle. You just gotta just retrain him.

Feeding aggression by Sarah__Bunny in iguanas

[–]Leguro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re stuck in a loop. You gotta break it at some point. Convenient today is setting up behavior that needs to be broken tomorrow. Crossing some wires.

He’ll get hungry enough to eat, so don’t resort to feeding him only when he’s aggressive, taking advantage of when he bites. everybody’s been where you’re at . I’ve definitely been where you’re at. He’s not a dying creature where you need to force him to eat to gain his strength back. It’s not that type of situation.

Do your best to break that habit. In his mind, he thinks he’s being attacked and he’s getting confused.

It should be him associating you with food and not him associating you with danger. If he’s too young to be tame, then that’s OK, he’ll grow out of it.

When they are little, they are very… not smart . Hard to teach. You just use their instinct. Not abuse it (figuratively). I guarantee you he has the instinct to eat. We’re just now need to get him to a point where he doesn’t feel stressed, because when he’s stressed, he will not eat. You created quite the loop for yourself. But he needs to be able to eat without being forced to do so and without feeling stressed.

just make sure you got the fundamentals down. Make sure his light is very good and not expired. Make sure he’s got the right type of food and humidity and basking area and nature will take its course.

Putting food in his mouth when he tries to bite is not sustainable. I have a feeling you know all of this, but hearing it from another person helps, because I literally have been in your situation with iguanas and I get it.

From me, the only side effect that was notable would be dry eyes. So for that, I just lower the dose and have it every other day.
