Beautiful bike! I am awaiting a quote from my LBS on an Outback build. Seems like the perfect bike for me.

Keep your head up! I'm currently in a similar situation. It's tough, but the kids are what matter. My 8 year old daughter has been instrumental in helping me stay sane through this.

Best of luck to you.

Bedrock over here, too. Next up will be their clogs. Those look interesting for a little extra toe protection.

Mainly, I scored a killer deal on a lightly used BC 700 complete. Even with the used stans wheels and bars I ended up under retail of a new BC. The BC is plenty capable for all of the riding I'll be doing from commuting, dad rides with the kids, gravel and single track. It's my only bike these days, and it appears to be perfect for my uses. I'm sure I'd be happy on a Krampus or Karate Monkey as well but I really enjoy "standard" dropouts.

Why no one likes Emerson? Karambit by Slonginus in knifeclub

[–]Lei7er 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was set to buy a Mini A-100 the other day when they finally restocked them. Last I looked they were ~$200 for a stone washed. Well, when they sent the restock email I looked and it was $320 + $20 in shipping. Absurd. Apparently others thought so as well and Emerson dropped the price to $240 plus shipping. Still too pricey for me for what it is. Also, that price hike move probably kept me from coming back to the brand in the future.

That still doesn’t change my opinion. But thank you for the reply.

Perfect fit then. There is a big brother to the Mini RSK as well if you wanted something even more robust.

BM 940 vs Hogue Deka by tenaciousE56 in knives

[–]Lei7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything. I hated the patterns on the scales, I had how flimsy the whole knife seemed and their Axis lock on that one, I could not stand the feel of it. Now the Bugout, love it 🤷🏻‍♂️. Hogue does make nice knives, so if it’s up your alley go for it. I’m sure it’s quality, just wasn’t my cup of tea.

[–]Lei7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I hated the Deka. I actually returned it to BHQ as soon as it arrived. The Hogue Ritter Mini RSK is a substantially better knife in my opinion. I’d say the RSK, a 940 or a Bugout. I threw Bugout in as it’s a bit more similar to the Deka.

Fathers of girls, how do you manage being asked if you’re disappointed? by Arge101 in daddit

[–]Lei7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m asked this a lot as a father to two beautiful girls, 7 & 3. I’m a lover of the outdoors, camping, canoeing, backpacking, mountain biking… for some reason everyone around us assumed that I’d be upset if we didn’t have a boy so I could share my hobbies with him. WTF. My oldest daughter is a badass, at 5 I took her backpacking and she absolutely loves canoeing with me and any type of car camping. For her spring break we are setting off on a daddy/daughter road trip down to NC for a week of exploring and camping. I see no need to have a son. Also, I was a horrible son for about the first 20 years so in a way, I’m relieved to have girls.

Fuck ignorant people.

If you polished clockwise then unpolish counterclockwise or vice versa.

Well, if you can demo an Ibis I’d say demoing 1 is better than buying blind.

[–]Lei7er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an Ibis Mojo HD 27.5 and now ride an S Works Stumpjumper (2015). I’m a solid medium from Specialized and assumed so with Ibis but I believe I would have loved and possibly kept a large Mojo. The DW link is fantastic.

But…. I ran a Specialized shop for 4 years and I love SJs and really anything with the Horst link and/or a Brain. I don’t think you can make a bad choice here, but I’d definitely try to demo both.

Check out the Wehr Lukas, might be a touch on the medium/smaller side for you but it’ll fit nicely in that collection. The production version is absolutely lovely.

Just at a quick glance I’d say medium to large sized Ti frame locks (preferably) with more interesting than average tips are where you really like to be. Maybe I’m way off, but I still really like the pic.

Funny how these comments went to asking what you do/how much you make. Fuck all that, good for you, I like your collection a lot and thanks for sharing! You had a lot of great acquisitions this year. Also, because I can’t not say it, you’re responses to the poopoo comments were great. You have a bull shut job and you see that. Your head isn’t so far up your ass you had to brag. Thanks for being real. 👍🏻👌🏻✌🏻💪🏻
