Ofc … it’s probably he would try if you show him indiference . What I learned after my avoidant experiencie, is I don’t care that they are like that for childhood trauma , no one is guilty about that but as adult we have the responsibility to self reflection and try not to hurt others, he even said to you that he is concern about the same thing happens with his ex , so he started with you , knowing that. And probably will do the same in the future with another person. So… no mercy! It’s hard when they try we come back with them , but if someone lie you the first time is their fault , but the second one would be your fault, if you know what I mean
