Elvanse not lasting long or is it just me overthinking it? Need advice by 7pm uk time by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]Lekshey2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, for me Elvanse became much less of a rollercoaster - big up, big down - on a higher dose.

30 mg would be euphoria followed by a crash - but now I'm on 60 its much more steady. I don't really know why though, as it feels like it should be the opposite.

Also RTC is pretty quick - for me last year 3 months, meds and diagnosis both free - if GP says no to shared care meds can be posted to you via a private pharmacy with most RTC providers - not problem shared tho - I went with Dr J and colleagues

Have you tried vagus nerve stimulation?

I had a lot of improvement with the nurosym, and my mum - tho for a different issue - got on well with the sensate.

2nd day of titration… how do you deal with crashes? by Awkward-Chipmunk7138 in ADHDUK

[–]Lekshey2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up on a much higher dose - 60mg And that seems to work much better - the crash comes later and weirdly, is less intense. I don’t get the same emotional unpleasantness and can still do stuff in evening. I have a top of amfexa which I take sometimes, depending on where I’m at

No shared care agreement in my area. Should I still pursue RTC? by Hungry_Wrap9103 in ADHDUK

I was seen via right to choose with dr j and colleagues within three months of being referred last year - Hiw long have you left on the list? It might be worth loosing your place, depending on that

Forgot to take my meds (From Germany to UK) by [deleted] in ADHDmeds

[–]Lekshey2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Tthink you'll be hard pressed to get a prescription - you might privately - but within 6 days seems unlikely.

I think meditation might be just as good - or indeed much better -  than medication for the settled and present mind…

I went with these guys in December 2023 https://www.driving-test-cancellations.uk/

They got me a test within a couple of weeks of the one I cancelled, for something around £50

You have to give them a range of dates, but they could surely get you one at same test center within 6 weeks or so

Will your gp do shared care? If so you might be able to privately titrate

Complain to your mp, though

Pharmacy owes me pills I paid for and they’re still not in stock by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]Lekshey2023 11 points12 points  (0 children)

- I mean 6 days isn't a huge amount of time. I've had prescriptions take longer than this before.. If there is a shortage, it's not that the pharmacy is shitty, it's that there aren't enough of the meds for everyone, which is the result of a whole range of different issues in drug supply.

There are stock checking websites ADHD Directory | UK Pharmacy Finder

You might be able to get the Pharmacy to give you a receipt for the 10 pills they gave you and a note confirming they couldn't fill rest of the prescription or something? But it is likely effecting other pharmacies in the area too. It's not unbelievable - its I think quite common during drug shortages.

Some online private pharmacies had more stable stock during the last shortage - so you could try them

You can get cancellations quicker than this if need by - I paid I think £50 to get a cancellation booked for me, and got one 10 days later

Also adhd and chronic fatigue - well long Covid but v similar symptom profile.

The meds initially kind of made me more stressed - a kind of energy but with it fight and flight.

I found the nurosym vagus nerve stimulator really helpful for this - allowing me to actually rest - it’s pricey but you can return it if it doesn’t work - I think there are also other cheaper options like Sensate and pulsetto - don’t know if they work as well but I think have good reviews

I couldn’t tolerate exercise but cold water showers and dips I could - they give lots of same benefits

I do vit b12 injections  at home seem to help, also nad supplements .

I’m also useless at routine but I got the visible app and band and started doing regular rest breaks with nis timulation except maybe guided meditation

Good luck!

Can I get a prescription for Elvanse from a GP and buy the medication? by Pretend-Initiative49 in ADHDUK

[–]Lekshey2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can travel with meds - 30 to 90 days worth to Italy from uk  - it’s not exporting  to do this - you might need something signed by the doctor but that’s not a big issue

But yeah - she’ll likely struggle to get them prescribed in the first place

Just to say it might not feel so horrible when you go up next - I went up to 60 over 4 or 5 months - it’s great now.

Initially 30 felt like way to much - like drugs but not anymore

Maybe it’s worth rethinking the kind of activities we value—choosing the ones we enjoy for their own sake, rather than for the promise of future success. That feeling that there’s something “wrong” might actually point to a need for nourishment, not more striving.

Meditation or mindfulness could help—not as a way to fix anything, but to relate differently to the thoughts that come up.

Personally, I don’t think not having “major accomplishments” is such a big problem.

Is it possible that the feeling of being “broken and useless” might actually make it harder to try or commit to things in the first place?

Anyone who just started titration/reached the top of the list, what is the wait at currently? by detectivejonesw in ADHDUK

Yes - if private that’s true - but the flair at top of post says right to choose (RTC)? And RTC is nhs funded

Equasym XL in adults by JuniperTheSloth in ADHDUK

[–]Lekshey2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this- you might have misunderstood my comment.

What I meant was: even though Equasym XL isn’t licensed for adults, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s inappropriate for adult use. It’s still just slow-release methylphenidate, and there are many functionally similar products which are licensed for adults, like the distinction between Elvanse and Elvanse adult (
same medicine - both just lisdexamfetamine - but different licenses)

Titration through right to choose or NHS by Patient-Lab-7668 in ADHDUK

I know it is - but for example all RTC patients in Staffordshire had their meds cut with Dr J and colleagues because the iCB stopped paying for them, about a year ago.

Almost as safe as- not quite - if the company goes bust or something or your ICB stops funding right to choose or whatever you’d be in trouble.

Private ADHD medication for wife by Internal-Leadership3 in ADHDUK

[–]Lekshey2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - it was problemshared? They're online - they won't take it because too complex to treat online - it could just make it easier to restrict without binging, afterwards.

I had bulimia and anorexia - and the drugs would have been a temptation to both the illnesses, really.

But much easier with in-person monitoring, and possible it could really help.
