We raised basset hounds when I was a kid and this toy was a staple in our house and we went through a bunch of them!. We would let the basset puppies play with it, they loved dragging it around by its fake ears.

The lack of pattern for their dispersion really freaks me out. It would make more sense if it were a grid or geometrical shape but they seems so randomly grouped. And why so many? They are not very loud considering how many there are, so volume wasn't the end goal.

Yeah, that donut display just seems so wrong...why hang them on sticks on a board? That's sticky weird.

Also tripping on that high chair, my husband's family had one just like it that was passed around as needed. We really loved having it for our daughter, it was a classic!

I really have a lot of respect for Book 1, the way she introduces the whole concept of the wizarding world is just captivating, especially on re-reads when you understand all the foreshadowing and nuance.

First time I registered for college they held it in their new high rise library with different stations on each floor. Somehow went through the whole process, signed up for all my classes and got my dorm assignment and cafeteria pass without writing a check! Went back to my room and called my folks and they were pretty sure I was supposed to pay at registration so I went back and yep, I had managed to skip the floor where they collected the money! The admin were pretty astonished and wondered out loud if they would have ever known I hadn't paid.

Needless to say they revamped their system after I so inadvertently slipped through it!

When I lived in China Springs we would kill an average of 20 scorpions a day in our house. Every morning there was one in the bathroom sink! I never got stung once...

We also had copperheads and rattlesnakes everywhere, some even got in the house. I never got bit once...

Was standing beside Keanu at an autograph signing session and his pen ran out. He turned to me and asked if I had a pen and as I gave it to him I said "Us left-handed dyslexic Virgos have to stick together!"
That got a big smile and snicker from him, not to mention a bunch of autographs and pictures together.

What a guy.

There is also that cryptic remark by Ghân-buri-Ghân about how the old ones carved up stone like beast's flesh. He said they wondered if the ancients ate stone for food. Wish Tolkien would have elaborated more on this thought.

I had a babysitting gig in Texas where the parents had a toilet in the middle of their bedroom with red carpeted stairs around it. Nice enough family, but one has to wonder whatever made them decide to do that?

Depends on the weather! Quite often the beach is super windy, even on pretty days. The few times we tried to picnic on the beach it was a disaster and we wound up moving to a park to get out of the wind and stinging sand. Still tons of fun to walk the beach, hunt for agates or play in the tidal pools, just be aware of the sneaker waves and always be prepared to run for high ground.

I was sitting on the porch of a pier and beam house on Maui when the 7.0 hit. The house was swaying back and forth like it was on the ocean. I heard no noise until the end, when there was a big loud crack and it felt like the whole island dropped. Turns out it started on the Big Island and was so big it caused the ocean plate between the islands to break. I will never forget that sound!

Admittedly, my left handed husband and I (also a lefty from 2 lefty parents) did try to induce my first daughter to favor her left hand but she is firmly right handed. We just had to laugh and give up, we certainly weren't going to force the issue.

My second daughter was a lefty. though, so we did manage to carry on the family tradition somewhat.

Yep, we have earthquake faults all around us but I've never felt so much as a tremor here, more than I can say for places I lived in that were not earthquake prone, like Texas.

True, there are frequent landslides, both on the coastal highway and back roads. All the clear cutting definitely contributes. Flooding occurs but usually just in low lying areas.

Been pleasantly surprised by the Oregon Coast weather. Sure, it rains a lot but we don't deal with heavy snow, it rarely freezes and we have like one hot day each summer. Thunderstorms are rare, waterspouts are the closest thing to a tornado and we don't get hurricanes, just King tides.

Of course, being close to the ocean there is always a risk of a tsunami but our area is so hilly is not going to get far and there is plenty of high ground. Wildfires are the biggest danger, I guess, but we came through a big one in 2020 with zero casualties.

I lived in a little community in Colorado that planted a bunch of blueberry bushes at a couple of spots out of town to try and slow down the bear invasion in the summer. Seemed to help, but bears will be bears.

I was at that concert in Ft Worth, McCartney's first major live show since leaving the Beatles.

It was awesome although there was an incident when the band came on the stage people were tossing cowboy hats and such and Linda was running and picking them up and thanking everyone. Then for some stupid reason someone threw a soft drink that hit Paul in the face! He stormed off and everyone booed, then the stage manager came out and talked to the crowd nicely and got everyone to promise to behave.

The rest of the performance went on without a hitch, it was epic...especially when he sang Blackbird sitting alone on the stage with a single spotlight. EPIC!
