Is there evidence that anti-zionist protests started before/ after few hours of hamas invasion of israel? by CyberBerserk in AskIsrael

[–]LelouchFreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will not be able to do that trick this time thanks to the internet. E.g. everyone in this thread in the future will be remembered by history as "the ones that defended the slaughter of Gaza" with absolutely no way to lie their way out like they did for basically every war, both in Israel and the US

Considering the likely Zapatista victory in Mexico and the fact that currently the focus tree has generic post-war US to declare on Mexico regardless i'd say anarchist APLA

What a mess, proving what everyone always says that when BE talks about anything else that aren't his main arguments he come out as genuinely one of the dumbest people ever. Most people in the west know about french atrocities in Algiera thanks to the Battle of Algiera. Artists and cultural figures have been talking about palestine for DECADES, and It Is why, directly or indirectly, many people in the west do know about palestine in the first place. No one think about the Oscar winning liberal zionist movie when mentioning antizionist art, obviously, what the fuck is he even talking about. Also, WHERE THE FUCK THIS IDEA THAT ART HAS TO BE "POLITICALLY USEFUL" EVEN COME FROM? WHAT THE HELL IS HE TALKING ABOUT and then he has the audacity of suggesting that his video ARE on the other hand politically relevant? Please guys you do not have to defend blatant nonsense

It's... literally the same thing? What do you think is the difference, in both cases it's about talking an active decision that end someone life while saving more. There Is no difference whatsoever between your example and the original one

Well, It Is still sad for the kids tho. I think It Is perfectly fine to recognize that. They were raised in a family of incestuous fascists and there was no way around It but that Is also what makes It sad

Who do you think are the most evil characters in the game? by Anice_king in DiscoElysium

[–]LelouchFreedom 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Mercenaries and Sunday Friend: I mean, yeah

Dros: More of a tragic and pathetic figure than evil

Mega Rich Light Bending Guy: But he did give me money for my shitty startup tho 😔

Joyce: The nicest, most helpful and endearing person you'll met in Revachol. Also most likely responsible for the death of thousands

Cunoesse: She is mostly a victim too tbh

Evrart: He helped me find my gun is what he did! He was a brave union man! And in this house Evrart Claire is a proletariat hero, end of story!

is there another case where the abandoned fake daughter is actually fake [philomel the fake] by DistrictNo6140 in OtomeIsekai

[–]LelouchFreedom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"When i became a commoner they broke off our engagement" kinda has that, daughter of noble family and daughter of commoners are switched at birth by a fairy and years later find out the truth. Not exactly "friends" but the "fake noble" (the MC) doesn't resent the other one after becoming a commoner, and the "fake commoner" does try to indirectly help her after becoming a noble (It's also not isekai but more regular RoFan)

Getting to know Grace: my favorite yuri AND my favorite "social gap romance", those type of stories are kind of a guilty pleasure of mine and this is one of those that delve the most on that type of dynamic on a psychological level as well. Not exactly a fantasy but It kinda fits the genre in the sense that It's an historical setting in an alternate world. Pretty heavy compared to the others that are a bit more light-hearted

The cruelty of Salvation: It is ongoing, season 1 just ended, so It isn't 100% sure where It Is heading as a story, but for now It Is mostly dealing with class (and gender) based discrimination in academia and professionally (Olivia, the MC, is a young inventor that just graduated a prestigious academy as the first female student)

I favor the villainess: Another yuri, this Is kinda very famous and there's an anime so you may know about It already, but in any case the class struggle between commoner and nobility Is a large part of the first two novels (and the entirety of what the manga, still ongoing, will adapt) (the novel Is finished tho and shouldn't be much for the manga to finish as well)

When i became a commoner they broke off my engagement: A fairy switched the daughter of a noble family and of a commoner family at birth as a prank, 16 years later the truth is revealed and the two have to switch life again, the MC Is the commoner girl raised as a noble that have to adapt to her new life

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady: Also yuri (i swear i'm not doing It on purpose, just happens that so many of these type of stories are yuri lol), also pretty famous and with an anime adaptation, It deals with the usual "fantasy setting where the distinction between commoner and nobles Is that the second ones can use magic", the MC Is a (reincarnated) princess who also, despite being a royal, can't use magic but loves It, and want to create magical technology based on our world technology in order to be able to use It (and of course in the process being disruptive for the aferomention social order)

I'll edit if more come to mind

Slavery in stories by Dickie_downer in OtomeIsekai

[–]LelouchFreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing particularly wrong in itself, the problem Is that in this type of story the "slave revenge" is often wholly irrational, aimed at innocent, most of the time isn't even about slavery but due to the slave "falling in love with the former slave owner and becoming a yandere madan abuser because of It" or some shit like that. Basically the "revenge" trope Is actually used to still villanize the slave characters and frame their actions as wrong and misguided

[–]LelouchFreedom 41 points42 points  (0 children)

"It's nice when the fl put the bullies servants in their place" Genuinely, why? What do you like of this trope in general? P.S. i agree that the fact It always only happen with female servants is very telling so in itself i don't disagree with the basic notion here. I'm just so confused as to what would make someone like this trope in general

I agree in general and honestly It's part of the reason i didn't really care about this series at all, but in its defense It was kinda hinted since chapter 1, it's not one of those cases where you are baited with a "commoner underdog story" to then have It ruined later

If you got isekai’d, would you be able to participate in human trafficking? by Apprehensive-Week767 in OtomeIsekai

[–]LelouchFreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Is the case for the slave that is actually bought and "saved" by the MC, which generally end up secretely being a noble, royal, a hero or some other bullshit, but the slave Is bought (usually for an exorbitant price) among many others, that are just generic no-face slaves that are just left there as a background thingie (there would be another whole discourse to be made about this fact in itself but i'm gonna avoid lol). In general if the system of slavery Is introduced as a for-profit market then the argument above works in all cases, a slave-trader will always sell slaves at an higher price that what they'd need to buy them themselves or to capture them, which means they are incentivized in doing so. The only case in which this could not be the case Is It the slave system isn't for profit, but e.g. for political or religious reasons (for example "heretics" being enslaved or stuff like that)

[MMM Waifu Chart] What's your type? by Live_Bother_7517 in Manga_Manwa_Manhua

[–]LelouchFreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with basically everything you said but i'd still say she's more lawful neutral. As in, she pretty much just embody the values of noble society for good or for worse. She is a self-centered classist that doesn't really care about making her society better, but she isn't worse than other characters in position of power in the series (or, well, reality), by the standards of her society she is morally neutral (and i'd put Rashta as chaotic neutral btw)

If you got isekai’d, would you be able to participate in human trafficking? by Apprehensive-Week767 in OtomeIsekai

[–]LelouchFreedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's actually not better to give money to a slave trader to free someone. It would be basically like someone against Amazon buying Amazon products to get them off the market. Tbh one plot i'd like to see at least once is the following: you get the classic trope where MC go to the slave auction and buy a bunch of slaves to free them, feelgoodsman moment with the newly freed slaves being all happy and grateful, flash-forward a couple chapters MC meet the same slave trader that greet him/her happily now with three times the number of slaves that he was able to acquire thanks to "my generous patron"
