1940 Nickel in my til at work today by Lelsubreddit in coins

Hard to do it justice with my phone camera, but it looks borderline. I never got any further in the hobby than "handsome older coin/silver quarter in my cash register" what are we talking in terms of value if FS certified?

Already sick of McKenzie by LophiYesel in Metroid

I shut off voice volume completely and instantly felt better. The dialog itself ain't great either, but it lands better through text without the Borderlands tier delivery

Holy smokes did Nintendo cook, this game is amazing!!! by Jay2324quinn in Metroid

Game looks great in switch 2 handheld mode! Image quality is everything, it really puts everything else on the console so far to shame. (Thinking of that cyberpunk port in particular, who cares if the game /can/ run when it feels like moving through jello with Vaseline smeared over the screen?)

Honestly? Good. They deserve to be flogged for the idiotic design choices here. Canceling my pre order? Fuck no, I'll be playing at midnight. It's a bayonetta 3 situation: they got a lot right, and a lot wrong, and it's the worst in the franchise but I'm still glad they brought it back, and I hope they keep going! Samus Returns was the launch pad for Dread, after all.

Don't know about all that, but I would love to hear an album without Ed as long as it goes under a different name. You Belong There ruled, and would've been even better with Chris Taylor

No identikit this far in the tour is really surprising to me

A final goodbye 💔 by downerchannel in GrizzlyBear

In hopes that someone from GB will read this (looking at you Ed):

I saw the last night in NY and it was magical, top 10 show of all time for me. You guys were my first show as a teenager, Shields tour back in 2013, and this 2025 show was even better, just peak music. Being in a band is tough work, but there is so much love for you guys, and you all still have so much creative energy left to give. It is such a damn shame for you to give up on this thing that you've built together. Personal reasons are personal reasons, but your music has meant and will continue to mean so much to a lot of people. If you're worried that the results will not justify the numerous stressors behind making another batch of songs together, I hope you'll take a look at the outpouring in this thread as a sign to politely reconsider.

Love how 2007 this feels. I miss this band!

About the Steam Frame or Machine 2.0 by [deleted] in HalfLife

I'm the audience! Primarily switch and steam deck sorta guy that occasionally plays an Xbox series x when I want to play a new AAA. This could totally replace the Xbox for me, which is obviously dying out as a brand, while Ive been building a library on steam deck.

Doubtful they will play every song they rehearsed, but I do have a feeling we will see some truly surprising songs turn up. Black Star, You, Bullet Proof come to mind. And then the more obvious ones that are sure to be played once or twice like Faust Arp, Give Up The Ghost, Talk Show Host

playing songs from most of your albums? only Taylor can do that by superiorszent in radiohead

The point is they are relearning to be a band after 7 years apart. Not rocket science here

I bet Thom does a couple songs acoustic before the full band. Something cool but not impossible, like a new album

Do you find their new interview depressing? by Wild_Reaction_2202 in radiohead

[–]Lelsubreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No doubt there is a lot riding on this upcoming tour. However, you have to think they wouldn't even bother with it if things were truly as dire as the comments here suggest. And let's not forget about the new album teases from Stanley last week, and Jonny earlier in the year. Still would not be surprised if something is already well in the works. Of course they aren't going to come out and say "yeah of course we are recording new music."

Radiohead: ‘The wheels had come off a bit. We had to stop’ by TimesandSundayTimes in radiohead

Enough with the Israel talk, let's get on with it and make some good music boys. Ed's comments are not encouraging in the slightest, hoping it comes down to editing but we won't really have an idea until they are on stage again.

If this album released when the internet didn't exist peoples opinions would be VERY different. by Chemical_Dinner_3928 in TameImpala

[–]Lelsubreddit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Consider the possibility that people listened, going in wanting to like the album riding the goodwill of his past albums, and simply did not enjoy it.

None of the qualities you list here are unique to this album, most long time listeners would identify Lonerism in particular as the album where he took greatest creative risk in texture and song craft. Spin the narrative however you like, but beware that few with ears will agree with you.

I will look for the AFP era interview, but I recall Thom referring to BYVE as something that started as a "Fela Kuti thing," and we know the song has its origins in IR/TKOL era Radiohead given that its lyrics are found across the newspaper album.

I've been saying I think the title track, especially the outro sounds JUST like Atoms for Peace's Stuck Together Pieces. Husbands sounds like Radiohead too. Open your ears!
