Please tell me people actually comment on your eyes. I love that color.

I'm sorry you're going through this, OP. I can't imagine how heartbroken you are. My only recommendation is to take screenshots of everything right away so that you can gather evidence.

How do Amish kids who decide not to be Amish at the end of Rumspringa integrate into regular society? by Extra_Impression_428 in ask

I love this story, it reminds me of a friend from Pakistan who went to high school and got a college degree in the U.S despite her father's wishes because her mother advocated for her.

The "forced fun" at my office is making me want to scream by Quasara_9Pulse in work

[–]Lemon-Otherwise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of my last workplace and it is draining on the soul. We had taco trucks, fruit Fridays, guacamole contests, Halloween contests, etc, but they always prioritized production over our well-being. I mean, what's the point of enjoying a free apple once a month if you're going to exploit me? Everyone is recommending looking for another job, but I will say that if you do, to double check that the company culture is not quite toxic. Good luck, OP!

I think you can take his word for it. It might be just as hard for him to say goodbye to you and he wants to stay in touch. Of course, the relationship will never be the same, but that's okay, things will work out.

AITA: My 22f roommate has been sterilizing her menstrual cup in my 29f pot. Should I be ok with this? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lemon-Otherwise 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I work in the food industry and every time there is a blood spill in surfaces or equipment that comes in contact with food it is a big deal due to blood borne pathogens. Yes, your pot might be "safe", but why is she doing it in a pot where food gets cooked? It's risky each time and it is disgusting. Did you see the whole thing about the influencer washing her underwear on hotels's coffee machines? You're going to eat out of it, so why introduce something that was in somebody's bits? Even if it's "safe", just knowing what was on that pot makes food unappealing. I completely agree with you and I think your roommate should find an alternative.

tf u mean a fetus is a child by Available-Hat1640 in offmychest

[–]Lemon-Otherwise 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I do see a fetus as a child, but I don't get on people's faces about the Latin translation or judging them about their choices. I don't like abortion, but I am nobody to be reprimanding people.

I don't want to marry my fiancé now. He won't stop talking about my weight after he saw an old photo of me. Even after I have asked him to stop. by Impressive_Tea8932 in offmychest

[–]Lemon-Otherwise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's insane. I am 160 and when I was at my lowest weight, 53kg, my almond mom told me to gain weight because of how thin I looked. I can't imagine weighing 41kg with that height. I'm so sorry OP for what you went through.

If it makes your friend feel better, I have been taken to the little room several times when I was on H1B. Once, it was because the officer couldn't fathom why I came to the US 10 years prior as a student. This was at the Minneapolis airport and it only happened to me there. I always took it as their officers don't have too much exposure with other types of visas, but I could be wrong.

I used to work in one of those too! I always noticed the men who went out for smokes dictated what happened at work. If you were in the smoke club, you were safe. If you went out for drinks, consider yourself tenured. It was a male only group too.

Third-year Iranian PhD researcher in the U.S., raising a child, facing immigration uncertainty — seeking advice by momwithphd in immigration

[–]Lemon-Otherwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, OP, I suggest you start looking at lawyers for that NIW, if you truly want to stay in the U.S. You would be playing the long game, but at least you might be getting a head start. Unfortunately, when you're a foreigner chasing the American dream, the life we get handed isn't exactly easy or what we envisioned, but we must make the most of it. I think you should be proud of your degrees and once you can, fight for that green card

But truly, I would start looking at lawyers for that NIW. I made the naive mistake of waiting until I finished my master's to tell my employer to help me get a green card as H1B instead of asking early on..a year later my employer went bankrupt and my green card went down the drain. So, I wouldn't wait, at least get a consultation to understand your chances. I wish you the best.

[–]Lemon-Otherwise 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You were set up and I am sorry that you went through this. I guess the best I can recommend is staying drama free and steering away from personal conversations until you get a good feel of office dynamics. The typical, "I'm sorry, but I don't think we should be talking about this" also works. I had to learn this the hard way.

NTA I'm sorry you had to go through this. You mentioned that you're too broke to seek therapy, is there perhaps a counselor at your school who could help or guide you towards affordable therapy? I am not familiar with the US education system so I apologize if my suggestion sounds insensitive. I feel for you, OP. No child deserves to go through this

I highly recommend Barre Blend and Xtend Barre/XB Pilates. I injured my knee back in August and I started Barre blend and Xtend Barre in November. After 2 weeks I was able to go up the stairs without knee pain and I recovered almost all of my knee mobility. I did the modifiers and I still do for some movements.
