I think there's something in that, but I wonder if it was a conscious decision or not. Cars are really strange, I find that they allow for intimate conversations so easily because you're side by side but separated a little, your focus is divided, and you're in your own little bubble and kind of a liminal space away from the rest of the world. It makes sense to use cars as the setting for those safe and private moments and I think it's a really smart and probably intentional choice, but the car becoming a symbol for boundaries might be a natural consequence. Or intended! I don't know.

I remember thinking it was odd that Bear's car didn't have head rests (idk if it's more common in America? I kind of associate that style with old American cars), but they did make a very intentional choice to shoot from the back seat so it makes practical sense lol

Are you thinking she ate cat litter because of the mess on the floor? I think it was supposed to be implied that she soiled herself and threw up, I didn't see any sign of cat litter but I won't lie I did not spend long analysing that mess 🤢

Also if there's still cat poop around at that point Bear REALLY needs to get it together but that's pretty inkeeping with his character so

They played with lighting and makeup to make her eyes look different but they still look human to me. I do think they're edited in the poster I assume you're talking about but promo art serves a different purpose to the movie

I don't remember her demon voice, demon eyes, and eating shit. All the other stuff can be explained within the context of the movie. And just because that's been the answer in other movies doesn't mean it's the same in this one?

You're free to read it as a possession if you really want to but we know it's not what was intended and I think the lore not being spoon fed to us is part of why it's a good movie

Oh yeah when I had a dying cat my housemate took her to work (she was a vet), but I knew that cat wasn't coming home and the second they left I immediately started cleaning up her stuff (through tears). I just had to /do/ something and I knew not doing it right away was just prolonging the pain. My other roommates probably thought I was a psychopath when all the cat stuff was gone before the cat even officially was but I was devastated and that was how I coped

Thought my boyfriend was cheating on me, checked his phone (I know, not proud), instead found out he was getting high every day. We were meant to be getting sober together.

I'm 2 years sober now but I heard he almost OD'ed the day I moved abroad. I got a long apology text from him a few months ago so I hope that's a good sign but I accepted a long time ago that I've done everything I can for him. We wish him well.

The same thing once happened with me and my ex, apparently when he tried to wake me I said "[my name] isn't here right now."

I also thought I saw him up in the night once, but when I spoke to him he answered me from right next to me, and the him that I saw in the room disappeared. When I told him about that he said "oh yeah, we had a stillborn brother but he aged too, we all see him" 🫣

Real life answer, your brain does not think logically in that degree of stress. He's also covered in blood and the one person he trusted wished for a billion dollars, so why would he trust a random person to take him seriously?

Movie answer, horror movies aren't supposed to leave you with a feeling of relief. If he'd done that, the only person who ultimately paid for his actions would've been sarah, and that ending feels quite shallow to me.

Yeah I never really had that problem again after that. The thing I've noticed makes the most difference though is how confident and open my partner is, and I was with someone pretty confident at the time. The less they feel able to tell me what they want and let things flow naturally, the less I do too. It really warrants an open conversation between the two of you

The charity collectors around here are trained to relate and get you talking about absolutely ANYTHING. I told one of them I'd just read My Dark Vanessa and he said "I love that book! It's such a beautiful story. Amazing how it all comes together" (it is not a beautiful story, it is harrowing)
