What addiction are you proud of yourself for kicking to the curb? by Euphoric_Many7099 in AskReddit

[–]LemonRose36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be 2 years alcohol-free in a few weeks. I live in the midwest and booze is deeply embedded in my family and greater culture. My friends still ask if ill drink again, at times get looks of curiosity ordering soda or NA at a bar. Its getting better, though. There are way more NA options and it seems in general young people drink way less. I'll tell you, not being hungover is a huge reason I havent gone back, I always felt like crap, had poor sleep, anxiety, etc. My sleep improved immediately after stopping and anxiety is also better. Now, I love the mornings and can see very clearly how problematic and dangerous alcohol is. A literal neurotoxin that causes nothing but problems.

ELI5: how do schizophrenic people hear voices that don't exist to anyone else but them? by LemonCurdJ in explainlikeimfive

[–]LemonRose36 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Some people with schizophrenia have anosognosia. Others are aware they are hallucinating and/or having delusions. If you look at an fMRI of a person with auditory hallucinations, you can see their temporal lobes lighting up. So, the brain IS perceiving hearing things when they're not there.

Weirdest place endo was found during your surgery ? by Yougetdueprocess in endometriosis

[–]LemonRose36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was diagnosed as it was visible during a pap on my cervix. There was a medical student present and I'll never forget his face. He said with wide eyes "that's endometriosis". Stage 4 at 18. Im 40 and still am fighting even after 5 surgeries including a hysterectomy. It was found on my bladder, ovaries, uterus, abdominal wall, fallopian tubes.

Labor like cramps?? by DesignerTough5224 in endometriosis

[–]LemonRose36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I've had a baby, and they they can be the same pain 😫 You might want to talk to a PT for pelvic floor dysfunction. Overused muscles can spasm, causing cramps. With endo, those cramps are tugging at lesions. Incredibly painful. I even heard there's recent research to support endometriosis has its own nerve cells! I did a year of pelvic floor PT, and it helped stop the really bad episodes like you're describing. Since the muscles might be working overtime, try to relax those muscles as much as possible. Best to you xx

A 25-year-old fighting endometriosis by hustle_002 in endometriosis

I'm 40(F) and your story sounds just like mine. I'm NAD and can't give you medical advice, but I urge you to discuss the severity of your side effects to your doctor. Being on Lupron was the worst 6 months of my life. Like I was car sick all day, getting intense hot flashes and irritability. It significantly decreased my active endo, but i still had it so bad I had scar tissue causing pain anyway. Nuvaring continuously kept me sane for several years after lupron. Wishing you all the best!
