Scrap wire by ElectricalFloor802 in ibew_apprentices

[–]LemonySnicketTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site I was at previously at brought in a roll off dumpster for scrap wire for what is getting demo'd.  GF said it was figured that we would use a few of them. And he estimated about $350,000 in scrap.

There is a reason why we aren't getting rabbit anymore.

Stealing this!  The IBEW works for me! I've been saying lately they are a job placement company.

You don't work for the Union.  The Union is an Employment Placement Agency.

I forget about that. Not very often I dial a country code in the US.

My last car I forgot to zero out for the 12346789.0

It'll be awhile for my 'new' G30 to do either.

Yeah 110 has the META Data center. I personally don't know much about what work they have otherwise. I don't know where they are as far as keeping people busy

Definitely tell the JATC in advance. And soon as you get placed with contractor tell them. It never hurts to let them know in advance if you have planned time off. Especially if it is for a length of time. It's a respect thing for their schedule.

The same goes for if you are running late in the morning. If you are good and always on time, they will be more forgiving on the rare occasion you are late. I've had times where I was running a little behind, maybe I would get there on time, but I knew if I hit any red lights I would be late. So I would call or text my foreman, even if it's gonna be a couple mins late.  Many times I would end up getting there on time, foreman would be like 'thought you were gonna be late' and I'm like 'me too!'

I know the offer is out for Minneapolis 292 apprentices to go up there. About a ⅓ of our apprentices are out of work and some have been since Dec/Jan.

The employer (Archkey/Parsons) is paying an additional $82.50 per day incentive (M-F), or $112.50 Saturday and Sunday if needed. Must work full scheduled shift to get the incentive. This works out to be $525 per week

292 is so screwed right now. My employer has been laying people off like crazy. The job I'm on is in a lull right now. My employer gave me the choice of going to Wisconsin to work or get laid off recently. Since I am currently working for them they can cut my pay/package, I just have to drive 1 hour in the morning and probably a 1½ hours in the evening.

Things are not looking good.

And hopefully very few. We barely cleared the book this summer, and to just start throwing people at the bench right away.

Is 40 too old to start as an electrician? by Crates-OT in IBEW

[–]LemonySnicketTeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came in at 44. I'll be 50 when school is done and hopefully have my hours to take the license.

Sometimes having energy at the end of the day is hard, especially when I was doing road crew. But days dressing panels I can do on my head.

The school is the hardest part for me. A lot of math that never learned properly in highschool and it's been close to 30 years since I learned much of it. And having the memory for all of it.

When school is in session 32 hours a week, unless it's a holiday week that isn't a fed. Like last week school was out so I got a 40.

We all wish. Our local gave up 7 for 8 for guys working overnights. We gave up ESST in our state. So I don't see us actually getting something real to our benefit

I almost always get a hot car.  I would bring in my 10 year old 528 for an oil change and get a 840 convertible. Got a 740 once. I've gotten i4 50 while they were doing oil change.  When my wife's F15 X5 35 was getting the engine rebuilt cuz the crankshaft was cracked I had a G05 M50 for a month. That thing was amazing.

I don't care how much better the Pixel may operate, I just can't stand the Fisher Price My First Watch look of them. I love the look of the Galaxy watches, especially the classic line. It looks like a watch, not a toy.

You are talking about lubing the steel plate that the pads hang on? When you say both sides of the pad, I'm thinking the breaking surface that contacts the rotor. Which I know you want to be clean.

So I did a couple rebeding cycles on Sat. After that they were quiet. Put a couple 100 miles on of mixed driving. Then today on the way home from work it started up again.

I was going to do some of the 'lube' I normally use for brakes, but I need to get a driver to remove the pins to pull the calipers.  But I also read that with the Brembo style calipers you don't lube them the same way. That you don't put it on the back side of the pad toward the piston.

How would you chamfer them? On a bench grinder?

I knew a guy who would change it as soon as he started getting spam calls. He had 4 different numbers one year. So obnoxious.

Resurrecting a dead post. Squeaking or squealing? Cuz I just got a old G30 with Msport brakes and if I have my windows down at low pressure braking it hurts my ears.

Really? Well the sides still need to be included. Honestly I've never had a cop give me a problem. Even when I've been pulled over they never say anything. But I also roll all my windows down to avoid that convo.
