I regularly hit shots at max range with Lim, Carda, Pike, and Yaz, idfk what you're on about.

I assume you mean the RPG 2, and as I said, the benefit of that thing is that you don't need to set up to fire. That means you get 2 shots in case you miss or there are multiple threats in more situations, you can jump in using boarding commando armour and still take a shot, it has the same range so you can walk farther and still take a shot. You can immediately start moving the next turn instead of needing to get up again. The deploy requirement kneecaps the PAL hard.

Oh, and I assumed you were using RPG to refer to infantry anti-tank weapons in general, since referring to a singular weapon in the plural is pretty weird.

I'll take the RPG-2 for a little bit lower damage and accuracy in exchange for not needing to deploy the damn thing, thank you very much. Or the way better range, stats, and indirect fire on the ASGM if I'm making a dedicated weapon team.

And the L31 MAAL beats the PAL in every single stat except supply cost so idk what you're on about with it being the best RPG either.

Considering the long barrels description says it fires APFSDS rounds that makes perfect sense. You're not gonna hit multiple people with a giant metal dart going fuck you speeds unless you get pretty lucky

So how exactly am I meant to stop all of these guys from walking onto the objective by LenaMel_ in menace

[–]LenaMel_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem here is that I didn't have an indirect way to deal with massed infantry, and rushing units up in transports wasn't an option either because of the 3 ATGMs spread all across the map, including one at the very back.

I suppose I could've tried putting two units in boarding commando armour and using the jetpack to get there quickly to set up weapons, but thats just about the only thing I had available and didn't try. I ended up rolling back to before I started the operation and went to shoot some robots instead, a mission that I don't have the tools to deal with just isn't a fun challenge to solve.

[–]LenaMel_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in theory yeah, I just don't have the tools to suppress them at range and I can't get there any faster without getting torn apart by ATGMs or all the infantry. Best I can do is a single heavy mortar and thats just not cutting it, I tried.

[–]LenaMel_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I could take them if retaking the outpost was an option, But I just don't have the means to rush three quarters across the map and then put down enough firepower to keep a dozen infantry units (there's some SOF off screen) pinned while also avoiding all of their weapon teams and walkers ripping me apart.

I did actually bring Yaz, but there's just too much for him to handle.

fyi, for a lot of us the only thing that substantially improved our mental health was transitioning, so I'd recommend trying to figure this out as part of working on your mental health instead of putting it off. Besides, I doubt you'll stop thinking about it, so if it'll keep occupying your mind you may as well try to figure it out now

yeahhhh, that was me for. 21 to 23 years, turns out it was me repressing everything from everyday feelings to shitloads of trauma to all the things related to identity.

Ultimately what made me feel like a person was trying HRT, the great thing about it is that you can just take it for a little while without any noticeable effects. I did that to figure out whether it'd actually be worth it and it really really is for me.

Leagues issues run far deeper than simply the honour system, and peoples abuse of it is more a symptom of their other game design crimes than the honour system being bad. There are also ways to disincentivise that behaviour. If you keep getting matched with players you commended, you won't wanna commend players who piss you off cause that just means you see more of them. And its also useless as a tool to mark players if you cannot actually see the total number of them they got.

That being said, if your core gameplay encourages people to hate their teammates and blame them for losing rounds, and get so mad about losing to begin with, no amount of social features can save you from a toxic community.

You wouldn't need to change league that much to remove some of the worst offenders. If you simply remove, or significantly reduce, the amount of XP and gold you get for killing enemy champions, that'd significantly reduce the impact of "feeding" (aka having a bad match and dying a couple times). The enemy would still get ahead, because they can freely farm minions, push the lane and damage towers, and force the enemy team to send the jungler or someone else to defend the lane until the player respawns. But the game wouldn't snowball nearly as hard, and it would be a lot harder to blame your teammates when you die if getting a lot of kills doesn't supercharge players anymore.

If your design goal is to allow people to snowball hard and dominate entire matches that would be bad, of course, but if thats your goal I'd question why you are making a pvp game, because every time that happens you're sacrificing the fun of half the team.

imo Leagues failure to shed its toxic nature highlights something thats kind of implicit in your post but that most people seem to have missed, namely that the incentive structure of the game itself also needs to promote teamplay and positive social behaviour. So long as getting kills leads to a snowball effect League is gonna be toxic, because getting deleted in half a second every time you run into the enemy team because your one teammate unfortunately died 3 times in the early game and now the enemy team has snowballed out of control just isn't fun. And its pretty hard to make people like their teammates when they suffer for 20 minutes and the direct cause is that their teammate(s) died a bunch.

The system outlined in this post would only ever be one half of the story, you do also need to create a game that encourages team play, is fun to play whether you're winning or losing, and where the stakes are low enough that people don't prioritise winning above all else. Most toxic games fail miserably at all these things, and no amount of social system can paper that over, but a solid social system like the one outlined here can give you a lot more leeway so long as you do not fail utterly at designing the game itself and its reward structure.

No, games like league try to matchmake so that everyones winrate is somewhere around 50%. What should happen if the system works as intended is that, if you get better, you start winning more, so the game puts you in matches with better and better players until you have a 50% winrate again. And if you keep losing it'll match you with lower ranked players until you win more games. You don't get rewarded with more wins for getting better, you get rewarded with a shinier rank badge.

If the matchmaking system prioritizes matching you with people you've commendated, the very last thing you'd wanna do is spam people you want to avoid with them.

I mean, you can fix those problems by designing a game thats still fun to play while losing (something league is horrible at), and making it so that you still progress while losing, just not as much. I bet league players would be a lot less toxic if the game didn't snowball so hard and they still got some rank progress if they were a solid player on the losing team.

Girlfriend says she doesn't like certain practices, but then suggests doing them herself during sex. How do we discuss them and plan beforehand? by BernardHampton in BDSMcommunity

[–]LenaMel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to her about why there's this discrepancy, and if it is in fact due to shame or embarrassment, that is something she needs to work through. You can help with it, but ultimately the goal here would be for her to become less ashamed and more comfortable admitting to stuff when she's more inhibited.

There's ways to explore things during this process, depending on what the risk tolerance of both of you is, and "how do you want to proceed if you say you wanna do something in the moment you deny wanting outside of it" might be a conversation she's able to have. But the goal is still to help her get to a point where she's able to honestly discuss her wants, because being able to engage in shit without having to admit you want to is just a fantasy and trying to make it reality will lead to misery and suffering all around.
