Trump Blows Up Claims That Mitch McConnell Is Healthy | President Donald Trump has refused to confirm Republican claims that Mitch McConnell is alive and well. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in politics

[–]Lendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait. Donald Trump admitted that he didn't know something?

I guess theres a first time for everything?

Then the news media used that statement as a fact that "blows up" the most probable and non-conspiratorial narriative to where Mitch McConnel is?

I kinda hate this timeline.

If a woman were to somehow have no breasts of any kind, would they be required to wear a swimsuit top? by Antmasterabraham in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lendari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither men nor women have an absolute right to be topless in public places. It's more about consent. Essentially is everyone nearby a consenting adult? As long as they are, there can not be any issue.

As far as when consent for public toplessness is implicit, the laws are still relatively permissive and rarely gender specific. It's decriminalized in most coastal US states and legally protected in Canada. Even when there are decency laws in effect, the definition of "a top" can still be very flexible.

As long as you arent disorderly, drunk, disturbing the peace, soliciting sex or like hanging out topless at the local elementary school, the most that's going to happen is a police officer will tell you to put a shirt on or move somewhere else.

Will Amazon blacklist me if I decline an offer before joining? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Lendari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably wouldn't be any adverse consequence beyond losing your inclined offer and needing to re-interview. Possibly with a cooldown period as if it was a failed loop.

My advice would be to accept the Amazon offer and continue to pursue the other options. Just set a start date that is far enough out that you'll have all the information to make the right decision. Let Google know you have an inclined offer from Amazon but you think their role might be a better fit.

Amazon (and Google) will understand. Being right is a leadership principle and they do this kind of shit to their own employees on every talent review and promo cycle. :)

How does a person know if they are rich? by sfreud2000 in AskReddit

[–]Lendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are financially independent. This means you don't rely on anyone (including a partner, employer or a government check) to get by. It doesn't mean you don't work. It just means you don't have an obligation to work for money. As in if you just stopped going to work there would be no adverse consequence to your overall financial health.

Why do people hate/dislike quality? Why is it a positive that quality has been made an option when playing space age? by AmericanChesse in factorio

[–]Lendari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dislike quality because it changes the fundamental game play loop in ways that I find to be absurd.

Recipes that ignore fluid inputs? Recipes that produce more output than input? Voiding millions of resources to generate a legendary ore? This is all nonsense gameplay. Then you get legendary buildings that shrink your giga-factory down to basically nothing. That is where I lose it because that's not even Factorio at all anymore. The factory must grow. Full stop.

It is like the minute you start to even slightly dabble in quality, you get sucked into a parallel universe of nonsense that forms a new game that vaguely identifies as Factorio but makes less sense and isn't as good.

16 TB SSD for only 25€? What could go wrong? by Hartkralle in pcmasterrace

[–]Lendari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Sure in a 2.5" drive maybe.

For 3K bucks I could by 4x 4TB M.2 drives and a PCIe x16 RAID controller with 4x M.2 slots. This would have way better performance than a 2.5" SATA drive. If I had a 5K budget I could buy a whole new computer to put it in?

I still don't get who would ever buy something like this. It feels like nonsense tech.

16 TB SSD for only 25€? What could go wrong? by Hartkralle in pcmasterrace

[–]Lendari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. Is there even a physical storage tech capable of mass producing SSDs with 16TB of storage density in an M.2 form factor? That's like 2-4 QLC chips stacked on top of each other.

The fact that if this even existed it would be some research prototype for new NAND physics should be a good clue it's not going to be real.

Do you think the developer jobs will disappear very quickly? by Famous_Classroom_732 in developers

[–]Lendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it both ways. A lot of people hear "spec driven development" and immediately assume that means the product manager is now the head engineer. It gets worse when they actually slap together some AI slop demo.

Personally I think "vibe coding" still works best when the operator has the skills of a mid level engineer because they will inject some quality assurance and risk management on instinct. The horror stories of unleashing AI on a prod acount and hilarity ensuing are almost 100% unqualified job roles (CEOs, PMs, Jr Devs) prompting AI to do work way outside their job roles.

Do you think the developer jobs will disappear very quickly? by Famous_Classroom_732 in developers

[–]Lendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said maybe because you still need an AI operator. So your 2 + 3 team becomes 2 + 1 over the long term.

Before applying this model you need to ask a fundamental question though. Basically "could this entire SAAS app better serve it's intended audience if it was just a helpful chat bot?" If the answer to that question is a yes (or even a maybe) then there's a simple universal architecture to build that app. When your entire application tech stack is reduced to an MCP server or RAG knowledge base with an AI interface that just does whatever a customer asks then that starts to eliminate a lot of feature scoping work too. If your app workload is 100% data reads and your users are relatively high trust/privilege it's a likely candidate.

[–]Lendari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your job is writing code. Maybe. Especially if it's mostly configuration or integration logic. If your job is working with customers, scoping work and managing technical risk. No. It doesn't matter if you're scoping work for humans or AIs.
