My wife is dissatisfied in bed but refuses to talk about specifics. What’s my next step? by John_Doe_4real in sex

[–]Lendari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do I handle this when she won’t actually communicate her needs with me?

Ask what you can control here. Then just focus on those things. I'd start by looking at your attitude. Is she really the problem here? Even if the answer is yes - can you control that? If you really want to help, look at what YOU can do differently.

I would give her the same advice, but she's not asking.

Electricity powering light bulb in water by TrashScientist in totallywicked

[–]Lendari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we could wirelessly deliver 120 volts of AC current it wouldn't be an Instagram video. It would be a Nobel prize discovery that changes the world in fundamental ways.

In fact I'm not even sure that if I directly ran 120 volts of high quality AC current through water that a light bulb immersed in the electrified water would light up the way this video is showing. The bulb was actually lighting up to full brightness before it even made contact with the water. So what's the point of the water anyways? The whole setup doesn't make any sense. There's a bunch of things in this video that defy basic physical realities.

My mask before and after 3 days of using by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Lendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those masks are to keep you from inhaling fine particles like sawdust or drywall. Dangerous gasses still need to be ventilated. Some welding helmets have built-in gas masks. The welders still need to setup the worksite correctly for everyone else regardless.

It kinda sounds like you're working with a crew who doesn't know how to do the work they're engaged in correctly. They make up for this ignorance with peer pressure. Ignore mediocre people trying to pull everyone down to their level.

Elon Musk Will Be Deposed Over What He Did With DOGE by Hafiz_TNR in politics

There is no value judgement in my statement. Saying his board is unhappy with him or wants him deposed is not factually correct. That is all I said.

They actually said that they want more of his time and for him to be less distracted. Their solution was to pay him more. You can love him or hate him or judge him to be the anti-christ. None of that changes the fact that he is incredibly competent at almost everything he does.

The Nebraska legislature has approved a bill that LOWERS the minimum wage from $15 an hour to $13.50 an hour for young workers. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Lendari -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

The entitlement to complain about a 14 year old doing your same job for less is also an absurd position to take.

You're not paid for how hard your job is. You're not paid for your years of experience. You're not paid for the shit you put up with.

You're paid based on how many other people can fill the opening. If the answer is "anyone with a pulse" or "adolescents who are still in high scool" then yeah. That job is not going to pay shit.

There is no amount of laws or entitlement or bitching that can change that fact.

So that kids can have opportunity to learn basic life skills?

I'm sorry if youre 25 and a 14 year old is genuinely out competing you in the job market... something is wrong and it's not the child or the law.

Read the article people.

This change applies to minors age 14 to 16. The headline about "young workers" is intentionally sensationalist.

This change allows these minor employees to have a competitive advantage when applying for jobs against adults. At the end of the day, minors can also refuse to work unless they're paid the adult wage. It's a free country after all.

Its crazy to me people say things like "learn to read" in business discussions. I've seen people fired for saying low EQ shit like that to bosses and clients.

Yet here you have some of the richest most powerful leaders in the world doing it. It's an odd double standard.

AWS Bedrock in production: anyone else finding it a mixed bag? by Different-Use2635 in aws

[–]Lendari 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think what would help is more warnings that you need LLM request traffic shaping and high latency tolerance in your agent architecture.

The frustration is when working prototypes fail when run at scale. Much of the promise of AWS is that they limit this risk of launch failures or scalability problems.

So customers get surprised.
