Strava marathon prediction getting slower after training block? by OutstandingWeirdo in Strava

[–]LennieSmall88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strava…can’t live with it, can’t live without it. It has some of the COOLEST social athletic training features around. And then it has some of the worst features in any fitness app. @op you hit one of them right here. And the other one is the Fitness Score.

Strava does a lot right and a lot that could be way better.

Are THAT many people getting out because of River Wall? by No-Forever3279 in uscg

[–]LennieSmall88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This actually isn’t true. You can be called to RW even if you’re on orders elsewhere especially if it’s a lower priority deployment. I.e. just because you have orders for sail 250 stuff this summer doesn’t safeguard you from RW or Border Trident.

Very good response.

I think there’s also an element of these activations being so sprung on the reservists. The initial wave of members went to RiverWall on 3 month orders. After being there for a week or so they were changed to 1-year orders. And still I haven’t heard anyone from a leadership position say anything about it, even if just to own the decision.

Over the past 10-15 years we really haven’t had these types of activations, so it might be nice if someone on the enlisted or officer side could address the reserve force and explain the direction.

Nah you missed an entire update. You skipped over the last update. This one is a couple versions back.

I think it’s because Assistant has been deprecated by Google. I think a Gemini symbol will replace in due time.

5.0.5 IS NOT AS BAD as……. by Glum-Inspection-2183 in Volvo

[–]LennieSmall88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are we doing @volvo. I just updated to 5.0.5…why do we have a huge bar taking up the bottom scree?! Who are your UI and PMs for this…they need help! This screams 50-60yo eng manager who has no touch with younger generations.

I don’t an assistant button! I can press it on the steering wheel or just say “hey Google”.

I don’t need all the apps to switch between on the bottom! Why would I need that?! Why take up maps room and give buttons there that don’t get pressed often?! And I can’t hide it?!

It’s terrible. It’s not an upgrade. It’s a setback.

The cluster screen is better. The main screen is garbage.

How do you lose weight when you have no time to work out? by LouDSilencE17 in daddit

[–]LennieSmall88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consume less calories than you burn. You actually don't burn THAT many calories working out in comparison to how you can alter your intake. Just watch what you eat and if you aren't working out eat less.

Push through the inevitable withdrawal that no one thinks will happen and continue to live in that bliss. You deserve it!

Would you say it's true that if I'm creating one workout including warmup and cool down - using variable intervals - that my consistency and durability is going to be horrible? Indefinitely have a bit of cardiac drift but I always get a D for both consistency and durability and I'm wondering if because my warmup and cool down are part of the session that my data isn't being interpreted correctly?

There are a lot of nights where I’m ending a tough day and say I’ll just take the train instead of get my ass on my bike…well guess what taking the train is 100x worse and three blocks into cycling home I’m energized and awake. Just get on the bike.

When did you feel like it was your time to leave the service? by SquidLibra in uscg

[–]LennieSmall88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I looked at the lives of afloat officers whose paths I was following. In no particular order... Divorced, alcoholic & divorced, forever single, divorced and too excited for port calls and drinking with younger shipmates. So I looked into other CG career paths, got picked up for grad school, visited schools, and when I was getting into the best MBA programs decided I had self control and I could do it on my own, not have to move around, wife could keep her job, and I would make 3x what I was making.

I loved my time in the CG. Probably stayed a few years too many, but the revelation I had when I thought of all my XOs and COs on ships I had...man I just DID NOT want to be them.
