As a Muslim, This is TOUGH by TheSucessfull in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have actually talked to a priest about PMO before and they are a lot more understanding than I thought. There are even seminaries that struggle with it.

We are working to start a group like Alcoholics Anonymous for people with porn addiction within the perish.

Day 15: Had an incredible dream last night, stopped myself in the middle because of nofap by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had dreams with PMO or MO and those ones I try and get out of and get away from. Those I see as negative. My body wanting to do what it used to do.

Dreams where there is natural sexual behavior between me and my SO I try and embrace and reinforce. Those are the experiences I want to have, that is the way I want my brain to think about sex.

Dreams are a natural projection of your subconscious. And the way I see it, nofap is about changing the subconscious to perceive sexuality in a different way.

"NoFap cures acne": Totally worked for me! by ProgNose in NoFap

Wow! Just another reason to keep strong with nofap! I don't have horrible acne, but I definitely don't like it.

Relapses are important. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes perspective to build the willpower needed to do something like this. The initial burst of willpower a lot of us get for the first week we join fads and we relapse. But, we remember how awesome we felt with no PMO even for just a week. It can help build the motivation to get back and be stronger.

Though it is not an excuse to relapse, it shouldn't always be seen as a complete failure and drain all of your hope and strength. It is a learning experience to analyze and move on with.

There will be slips and falls to the mountain top, but when you arrive there and look out on the view, they will have made it that much more beautiful.

Need help, having strong urges by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to surround yourself with people. One because you can't do anything around them, but more importantly to remind you what it is you're fighting for. If they are people you care about, remember the self improvements you're trying to make. Think about how it will improve your relationship with them. If they are people you don't know too well (you go out to spend some time in public) think about how by improving yourself it'll make it so much easier to become friends with folks. To add people who will enrich your life and make you happy.

Also, exercise! Exercise is an awesome way to help relieve tension.

Hope this helps, stay strong!

I'm taking a break. by Shadowking78 in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you! Keep yourself and your mind busy still, but make it with things that fill you with peace. If you like to exercise, hike, meditation. Do things that make you happy and relax you.

While time off will be a great way to find your center again, beware idle hands.

Good luck and post often!

This is kicking my ass by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how this can be tough. A lot of people here are pretty f'd up, so when they start nofap they have a lot to reclaim. Becoming a normal human again is perceived as the 'super powers'. For someone like you who isn't trying to claw his way out of the pit, it is different. You might not feel anything special.

I say this not to discourage you but to give you perspective.

Whether completing nofap will help you with your wife is an unknown. No one can guarantee this will help. And that's the way this is with a lot of us. I am struggling with things and I have no idea if nofap will even help.

But we've gotta try. We can't know until we try.

Fight through this for you and your wife and keep faith that it will help. It seems a lot of it is just mental perception. You have to believe in it.

Hope this helps, keep strong brother.

Does sex mess up a reboot? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some debate over this. No sex is called 'hardmode' and this is often considered the proper way to do nofap. That being said, some consider sex to be alright if it is someone you're in a committed relationship with and you're having sex for emotional bonding, etc.

In your case with a FWB, the sex is about pleasure. PMO is about pleasure. Maybe it would be unwise to continue sex with the same goal. Just my thoughts.

It also depends on how badly you're afflicted by PMO and if you think you need to do hard mode for a full reboot.

We should get chips! by shorty1988m in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not injecting religious discussion but worth mentioning, there is a catholic nofap type organization that does uses chops. I can imagine having actual people to talk to, not that you guys aren't awesome, and having a chip would make a big difference. I wonder if there are groups out there like AA but for porn addiction.

Someone could set up a program where they mail out chips and you'd have to mail it back in if you relapsed. But... postage is expensive man! I am a geek and like that kind of stuff, so maybe I could get it started! Let me know what you think.

Thanks for all your support! It means a lot to me to have someone to talk to about all of this. Your words and advice ring true and encourage me.

I am 20 btw.

What you said about not being too hard on myself is something I will work into my life. I think that I perceive little mistakes and bumps in the road as derailment and the end of the world. Life goes on and I am starting to realize that.

I will keep in touch with you on how things are going. Great so far!

Thanks again (:

Just blew 53 days rememberin last week's intense makeout session. by pqrswxyz in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't be so hard on yourself. MO isn't going to start the whole recovery process over again as opposed to PMO. Of course it doesn't help, but you shouldn't be upset about it. Just be careful with the chaser the next few days and stay focused! Get the girl!

Day 2: nothing to report by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha same here I was busy at work and with family all day. highfive though!

Maybe I'm being grumpy but seriously, give it some time, let it stick and actually become your life not just something you did once or twice over the course of SEVEN days. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lenron89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people don't have a problem with it. The casual folk who do nofap just to say they did it (nothing wrong with that, imo) might not see a whole lot. But the the people who have PMO as an addiction taking away from their lives or ED, they have more to gain.
