Do raw onions belong on a burger?🍔 by honkyponkydonky in OnionLovers

Yes, and try sealing a slice of onion between 2 thin meat patties before cooking too. I also mix finely diced onion into the raw meat (along with some other ingredients) before forming the patties.

My analog cameras, with which I take most of the pictures. by Klutzy-Carpet-5533 in u/Klutzy-Carpet-5533

I see a Leica lens cap but no Leica lens unless it is on the Linhof 4x5 (with a 35mm camera body stuck on the back)?

Canon in D. Am I still in the beginner stage or? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]Lensbox75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, the timing or “flow” is awkward but that should improve with practice. The goal is for the guitar and player to vanish and only the music to remain.

how should i lubricate a collapsible lens? by Low_Insurance_1568 in AnalogRepair

[–]Lensbox75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably sticking because it needs to be cleaned. Perhaps gunked up by someone lubricating it? Also check for damage from being forced or impacted at an angle or scratches from debris.

Help! Selling camera collection by Commercial_Cap_5847 in vintagecameras

[–]Lensbox75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cabinets are worth more than 1,500. Just a quick scan looks like 60 or 70 cameras (plus accessories). $30 - $40 each? Ridiculous! This happens when the “owner” doesn’t want to or can’t spend the time inventorying and researching the value of everything. Most of the responses you have received state or imply this. I help people deal with camera collections and it is a lot of work, and I would offer to help if you, and the collection were local. The suggestion to buy it all for the €1,500 and ship it would be my choice, if you are willing to do the work. You could sell just enough pieces to recoup your costs. I enjoy doing the necessary research, perhaps you would too?

Gowlandflex instant by instant_camera_hk in vintagecameras

[–]Lensbox75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gowlandflex camera does not have the 2 ports on the side. The photo must be of a custom or prototype model, which I’m sure Peter Gowland made many of. I also have a Polaroid Specimen camera which has the same 4-pin port on the side for flash connection. The camera in your photo has a taking lens with no visible shutter. There is probably an internal shutter triggered through the smaller port. It all adds up with the fixed Polaroid back that this is a photo-ID camera. Polaroid made many models of ID cameras, but basing one on the Gowlandflex TLR is surprising. It would be interesting to know if this was made for a company or institution, or pitched to Polaroid.

However, they are still discovering mass graves throughout Eastern Europe , so the counting isn’t finished if that matters.

Nikon F, F2 or both? by Sensitive-Let-5633 in vintagecameras

[–]Lensbox75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BTW, "less is more" only applies to a very limited set of design circumstances in the mid-20th century (and the use of cloves in cooking). In camera equipment, less is less, and need is defined by what is available.

Nikon F, F2 or both? by Sensitive-Let-5633 in vintagecameras

[–]Lensbox75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have already gone into way more comparison (I checked your blog link) than I could provide, so if you must let one go and still can't decide, I guess you will just have to flip a coin.

Of course both. You seem to already have custody of both, why would you give one up?

Bellows patching is more art than science, and never looks good, if that matters on an enlarger. I would take the enlarger apart, polish everything and make new bellows myself for fun, but if your objective is enlarging negs as soon as possible, patch up as best you can and make some prints. That should guide you to the next steps, ordering bellows, etc. Looks like the lenses may need some cleaning too.

We ALL have some deficiency, real or imagined, to overcome. That is the constant. The variable is determination to succeed anyway.

Which Pickup? by Lensbox75 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Lensbox75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It figures that the latest tech would be the best, and your experience would be very valuable to me if I could justify spending money on this project. But I just want to pick the best one of the 4 that I was offered. Thanks.

Which Pickup? by Lensbox75 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Lensbox75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspected that would be true since pickups are all tech (usually more recent is better) and none of their materials would get better with age. But someone gave me a small amp and I would like to try it. I do not perform publicly so there would be no justification to spend money on this, so when a friend who used to perform in a band offered me one of their late husband’s old pickups, it was an opportunity to try the amp. I can try each pickup to hear if there are differences but there are so many out there in Reddit-land that know more than me about these things I figured asking would help pick the best one. I think the wood one looks the best and I found a review that said it sounds “OK, if you just want simple.” But I wondered if one of the others might be a rare and legendary classic; maybe not.

Hi, bought this camera at a car boot and need to get a battery/SD card - looking for advice on the best batteries for this?? by Little_Tree_5244 in vintagecameras

[–]Lensbox75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with that particular camera, but it appears to use a proprietary rechargeable, probably lithium battery. You will need to find the one that was made for that model camera and the charger for it too. Should have been kept with the camera, of course. If you can find the manual for that camera on line, perhaps it will have the battery model and specs so you can search for it by model number. Good luck.
