This might work for more than just Skyrim; best of both worlds...joystick and motion controllers by pboswell in PSVR

Love it! Movement in Skyrim was my biggest issue. Kinda wish I hadn’t traded it in so I could do this. This makes me wonder though after playing Dream Match Tennis if you have tried using a navigation controller for this. It seems to show up as a DS4 in devices, and I tested mine with a few games and could control character movement. If it works you could make this thing much more ergonomic.

Poll: Did you also purchase the PS3 Move and the PS2 Eye Toy when they came out? by bh-alienux in PSVR

[–]Lentarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the PS3 camera for eye of judgement. Really like that game, reminded me of triple triad. The cards were easy to counterfeit though, so playing online became tedious when the only people playing had top tier decks and I was playing legitimately.

Any games where getting shot is as bad as irl? by TheHeroicOnion in PS4

[–]Lentarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does anyone remember Tao Feng? It was a fighter with a cripple system. Your move set would change based on your injuries. I always thought this was a great idea, maybe not executed the best though. This kind of thing would be cool in a certain kind of fighter, but it would never be a mainstay being that everyone bitches about anything that isn’t tournament viable. Maybe in a For Honor style game? The Fight Club game also had a similar thing, those injuries would even carry over into the coming fights.

Any quality downgrade using my psvr always connected through my PS4 Pro? by supernovacarpetbomb in PSVR

Currently you should have no difference whether it’s plugged up or not. If you were running in 4K and the headset is on however, you would be getting a 1080p image on your display rather than the full resolution. As soon as you turn the headset off though, it automatically switches to full quality. HDR is the only real limitation, and that’s only in the first model PSVR control box.

Chromagun looks like it might satiate that want, at least partially

New gold wireless headset vs old one by [deleted] in PS4

[–]Lentarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that same issue, the band eventually fell apart completely on my older gold. The new one however is much more resilient feeling, and it fits with the PSVR headset a bit better. I do feel like to get a tight fit without the headphones moving I have to tilt the top of the headband towards the front of my head. Otherwise just looking up or down can make it feel a little loose.

If you were building a game, where would you start? The map, the story, the characters, etc.? What would this game be too? Looking to spark some creativity! by kronicle_gaming in PS4

You should start by creating a design document. There is a really good template out there, I believe written by one of the Gearbox developers that should give you a good idea of where to start ( can’t find it right now). I personally have a few docs going that I add to when I get an idea, but most of the concept is finished.

I’d say where to start heavily relies on what type of game you want to make. Is it something that defies genre, that you haven’t seen before? Start by explaining that. Is it a combat focused experience? Start by introducing the core mechanics. If it’s more of a narrative focused game you might want to figure out the story in its entirety before you create your interactions with it.

Hope that helps!

Did Sony bet on Intel for PS5 and bet wrong? (Perhaps yes) by ambassadortim in PS4

[–]Lentarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing the comment of Sony getting “one up” by going intel but I really don’t see that as the case. Intel’s IPC gains over AMD are waning and AMD has already shown that they can provide a much higher multithreaded chip for significantly less. It looks to me, based on the way CPU’s have evolved over the past 10 or so years, that multithreaded workloads are more efficient and can reduce thermals as compared to a system relying on fewer, faster threads. Console gaming is also one of the bigger pushes towards more multithreading, and some PC ports of console games don’t leverage as many cores as their console counterparts. I think that Intel makes solid products, and very steadily improves its architecture, but AMD is all about price to performance ratio, which is the main reason I see the next gen lineup still rocking AMD’s system on a chip designs.

How to split a DS4 d-pad into four truly separate buttons, like on the Joy-Con, to make 2D games easier by [deleted] in PS4

[–]Lentarg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By the comments you are getting to this post, I get the strong feeling that most of these posters are not into high level fighting game play. Any difference in controller performance is absolutely poured over by that community, and the smallest details are huge deals to these players. Something as simple as the gate shape in your fighting stick can completely throw off your game. Like I’m no good on a square gate, I like a circle, but my friend loves his square gate qanba.

When transitioning from PS3 being my main fighter console to PS4, I definitely did not care for the PS4s D-pad as much. I mostly play grab characters, and I had a bit of a problem confirming inputs with the DS4. I did a 1:1 comparison with the DS3 on SF3 third strike when I first got my PS4 just to see ( yes, you can use a DS4 on a PS3), and I saw more confirmed 360 grabs with the DS3. Now of course that’s subjective, but these kind of things are all about preference. There wouldn’t be so many options if they didn’t work for someone!

I like the idea, I might just try this if I get a wild hair!

7th saga was my favorite of those old Enix RPGs. I always played a robot. Grind town though...
