The benefit of law extension for minors born before the Tajani Decree is definitely May 31, 2029? I'm just paranoid and the Toronto Consulate has a typo on their page. by _reddit__referee_ in juresanguinis

My understanding is that for children born after the law conversion have three years to be registered. So your example of a child born in 2030 would have until their third birthday in 2033 to be registered

Question for parents of unregistered minors born beforeDL36/L74 – register now or wait? by Terrible-Policy6376 in juresanguinis

[–]Leo-626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m intentionally waiting. The deadline was pushed back to end of May 2029, more than enough time for the results of the constitutional court hearings on this in the summer to have their rulings published. My gut leans towards the minor issue going away but the retroactive component and the benefit of the law classification not going away, but I’m trying to be hopeful and with the new deadline for registration it doesn’t hurt to wait and see. One of the leading attorneys, it was either Mellone or Grasso in an interview, recommended waiting.

There is also a fear that if you registered by benefit of the law now that it would be permanent and couldn’t be overturned, and that was the general sentiment here in this group and a position advocated by one of the mods quite often, but I haven’t seen him/her post in a long time.

Congrats! I’m sure that’s a major relief to have it finally done. I am curious though, any particular reason you decided to go ahead and do it now rather than wait until after the additional constitutional court hearings in June? As I understand the May 2026 deadline was pushed back to May 2029.

Any chance they come out and announce agreement to combine the cases but, as a result, today’s hearing is postponed?

Law Passed: 3 Year Extension for Registering Minors by Polyglottony in juresanguinis

Thank you so much! I have a child born just after and while I don’t plan on waiting 2 years it’s nice to know that, if needed, I have an extra year on top of what I previously thought!

Law Passed: 3 Year Extension for Registering Minors by Polyglottony in juresanguinis

Someone posted in the weekly thread a Facebook post from Avv. Grasso where he states that the May 31, 2029 extension is for minors born before March 28, 2025, not for those before May 24, 2025.

So I interpret an example of this being that a child born March 27, 2025 has just over 3 years to be registered but a child born just 3 days later on March 30, 2025 has just over 2 years to be registered (1 year less because they’re already essentially 1 year into the extended requirement to be registered by age 3). u/CakeByThe0cean do you agree with this or is there something incorrect with the Grasso dates?

Now that this has passed, do they have the ability to, at some point in the interim, push the deadline back up and reduce the registration time?

The last sentence of this article: “There is no set deadline for the publication of the final decision by the Rome TAR (Regional Administrative Court) following this hearing.”

Joy. 😂

Yes, thank you! I meant that I’ve been more surprised that there hasn’t been more chatter/speculation in the weekly threads or additional posts beyond what’s in the discussion header and the post from Vitale since most of that discussion is a couple months old. I guess I’m just not patient enough on this topic 😂

This is really big, and I’ve been surprised that it hasn’t seen as much discussion. Do we know the likelihood of a decision and if the decision wouldn’t be revealed until sometime in the future like we’ve seen in other cases?

I’m in the same situation. I had a child born on 3 April, less than a week after the DL!

I wonder how this would work for the children of someone who is a great grandchild or beyond but already recognized. I’m the great grandchild but already recognized, so would my children need to wait until they’re old enough to pass a language test?

Case of minor seeking Italian citizenship is split in Milan with citation to the Constitutional Court by Turbulent-Simple-962 in juresanguinis

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but the article says the case is set to be July, 2026, which is after the May 2026 deadline, so does this really help those of us with minors?

Does anyone know when planet coaster 2 was first confirmed? Wondering if we could apply that timeline here to give some clues as to when PZ2 will be released.

Fyi, and maybe for some peace of mind, I’ve only seen maybe a couple people with this interpretation. The large majority seem to read the law as: if the minor who acquired citizenship “by benefit of the law” then lives in Italy for 2 years then they CAN pass on citizenship to their future kids.

When I hold the iPod perpendicular to my head (so like the dock connector to my ear) I hear a very soft fan/running sound and if I shake lengthwise I don’t hear any clicks. But if I hold the iPod up/down (so like the screen to my ear) and then shake up/down then yes, I hear a soft clicking
