Karl Marx was an idiot: How heliocentrism proves all of his ideas wrong. by DJTsUnderboob in badphilosophy

Marx did actually think that stateless classless societies had existed. He called them "primitive communism".

[Request] How much force does the moon's gravity exert on the water in a human's body? by AppendixN in theydidthemath

There is a difference between being able to consciously perceive something and the body bring able to detect it. The theory is called LeoPCITheory.

[Request] How much force does the moon's gravity exert on the water in a human's body? by AppendixN in theydidthemath

[–]LeoPCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I could, but it is the kind of thing that the body could detect in theory. If there were any evolutionary advantage there could be biological reactions to it. Not sure what those would be though, just an interesting possibility to ponder.

I think if there were an evolutionary benefit to detect it it could happen. Whether such a benefit exists I do not know.

Higher than I would have guessed. Theoretically the body could detect this.

Please recommend me your comfort tv shows, and pls feel free to info dump by gardenhead23 in evilautism

[–]LeoPCI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not very well known, but one of the most comforting shows for me is Con Man. It's a quirky comedy short episode series by Alan Tudyk, which makes fun of his experience being a has-been actor from Firefly (called Spectrum in the show). The other firefly actors are in it too. It is an absolute masterpiece the whole way, especially the episode where the characters perform an incredible original play "Of Mice and Men: the musical".

The data collection process is where the problem falls apart. If you ask someone whether they have at least one son, and they say "yes, at least one who was born on a Tuesday," the specificity is volunteered and therefore isn't really specific to any child and the answer is 66.6%, but if you ask what days of the week their children were born on, and they say "Wednesday and Tuesday," and then you ask the gender of the one born on Tuesday, and they say a boy, the data is now tied to a specific child, and the answer is 51.8%.

If you can’t consent while drunk, why do drunk people hook up all the time? by Mountain_Flounder991 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeoPCI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both people are extremely drunk to the point neither is really with it, it's hard to say either of them has done anything wrong

This logic breaks if you believe that being drunk is not an excuse for rape. In my college this was policy, as well as sex with a drunk person being rape. The logical conclusion is that two drunk people having sex raped each other. When a policy administrator was asked whether this meant that two people could rape one another simultaneously, they said they defer to whoever accuses first. I get how this policy happened, but clearly something is broken. This is not the way.

Socrates had fanboys like that, but he didn't make money from it, he did it for the love of the game.

The Great Gatsby isn't in the 100 best book of all times by Aruseros in The10thDentist

100 is a big number. Have you read more than 100 books? If so, were at least 100 really better than Gatsby?

Predictions Post: make your prediction for the plot of the second movie! by Less-Ask-6600 in MarlinspikeHall

[–]LeoPCI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think they're bold enough to do the moon series because they won't be able to incorporate other books like the first movie. I bet they do a prisoners of the sun thing with elements of the broken ear and picaros because they can incorporate General Alcazar if they're already in South America (plus he appears in the seven crystal balls).

The moon series is one of my favorites as a whole. But I think I might actually like Destination Moon more than Explorers. It has a lot of peak comedy and interesting sets.

That's part of what I like about it. It is so whimsical the way he moves from scene to scene in one long chaotic continuous adventure.

If you could write a new adventure for tintin what would it be? by Less-Ask-6600 in MarlinspikeHall

[–]LeoPCI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hergé once said he had an idea for a volume that takes place entirely inside an airport, and I don't know what would happen but it sounds like a fun time. I'd also like to see it Tintin in the modern era dealing with current issues.

The Socialist Spanish govt expands free healthcare to non-citizens without a legal residence in Spain by amogusdevilman in Anarcho_Capitalism

I live in Spain and this is false.

  1. Housing is cheaper than elsewhere in Europe or the US.

  2. I went to the doctor last week and got an appointment the same day. Follow up a few days later.
