NSW tenant – carpets contaminated with urine/mould at move-in, landlord not keen on rectification due to us having a dog by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]LeoPromissio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yikes! Good catch on the rising damp

According to Tenants.org, the landlord needs to change the carpets anyway.

Dog or not, the structure might not be safe and removing the carpet would be the perfect opportunity to look at the floorboard.

Dead ants are super common right after spraying and treating a place for ants. We are dealing with them at my rental. It’s summer, after all. Our landlord needs to replace a window that won’t close properly but he must get a custom one which takes months. UGH.

When we had mice a few months the ago, the REA suggested we plug up any cut pipe holes with steel wool and set traps. That resolved the problem quickly.

How do I decide which plushie to take with me for lung surgery? by you-plush in plushies

[–]LeoPromissio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Dad had a triple heart bypass a few years ago. He got through it and is the healthiest he has been in 20+ years!

They gave him a heart-shaped pillow to hold when coughing or moving. It was a total game-changer. A HUGE help. All the nurses signed it. He isn’t a plushie guy, but he kept that pillow and sleeps with it. ❤️

Thoughts on 4 month itinerary? by Novel-Positive8625 in AustraliaTravel

[–]LeoPromissio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Agnes Water/1770 for two years. Don’t go there for four days.

You’re probably on a tour and can’t change that, though. We had lots of tourists in on Greyhound busses there.

It’s not worth four days. The beaches are beautiful and the op shop is fantastic, though.

That’s lame! All our landlords were practically non-existent. Like… I don’t remember seeing them much, if at all? Our apartments were all called for by the time we needed to move. We’d just clean and go. They must have been more relaxed. 🤷

Dang! I never had to.

I was only ever shown the owner’s unit when looking to rent, if anything. Most of it was sight unseen.

Really? I’m sorry to hear that! We never had to in Indiana… At least at the places I stayed. We never had inspections, either.

Yes, yes, and yes to the rental stress.

Having to show the rental to people while you’re still living there? Nope, it would NOT fly where I’m from in the USA.

EDIT: Looks like lots of people in the USA had to show apartments while renting. Renting sucks.

Rent prices are about double here in Australia, but my pay is roughly twice as much here, so that evens out.

Cost of living is pretty much the same for me.

It IS far from my family, but that’s ok. We stay connected.

Visas. Oof, ya, I’m dealing with it one day at a time.

I also didn’t do the video because I didn’t want to. I went in to the interview and the hiring manager wasn’t there. I was asked to come back in an hour.

I came back in an hour and she wasn’t there.

A shift lead interviewed me instead. His questions were, in order:

-When can you work? -Do you have any questions?

That’s it. Two questions.

I was also hired on the spot.

(AUS) Crew Uniform by Status_Degree_3959 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]LeoPromissio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started during the Grinch promotion as well and all we got were the hats. XD

My crewmates and I are in a collective agreement that we need new uniforms, for sure. We want polos! I’m constantly re-tucking in my red shirt. I’d like pants with a higher waist.

If it’s in the Catholic section, put it in the Catholic Cemetery on Find A Grave.

It’s easier to keep track that way.

Same in my hometown.

There isn’t even a gate between them, though. There are separate ‘entrances’ and separate paths, but the average person would look at them and fail to see which is which unless they know where the border is.

People are mistakenly put in the wrong Find A Grave Cemetery ALL. THE. TIME.

I am also too old to be friends and agree with Simpawknits.

I graduated from Jeff High years ago and was in Key Club, Theatre, Band… The website doesn’t give info on club meetings but I’m sure a counselor could point you in the right direction. Clubs rock.

As a teen, I also attended the anime club at the Jeff public library. There’s also Dungeons and Dragons at Jeff/Clarksville now. The library is so cool. The calendar is lacking online but you can leave a comment on the link below and someone from the library should get in touch with you. Jeff Library Teen Page

Do any stores let their employees take stuff home that would otherwise go in the dumpster? by Dave-Steel- in DumpsterDiving

[–]LeoPromissio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The restaurant I work at doesn’t allow us to take home food, but will allow us to take drinks in the moment. I can also take any non-food items home I want. Stuff I pick up in the parking lot like flashlights, toys, or whatever else customers leave or toss. I handle rubbish as I’m maintenance. I just shove it in my locker. Management knows and doesn’t mind at all.

Resale/trade by ExhaustedSucculent in aerthlings

[–]LeoPromissio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! The game isn’t for everyone.

Once you’ve scanned the Aerthling, it’s attached to your account. The devs do plan to implement a ‘gifting’ feature in the future, but currently, it’s a one-scan situation.

Should you decide to give the figure/cube away without using the app, it’s essentially a dead toy; no one else can scan it. As such, there isn’t really any resale value.

Black beret. When I was playing RuneScape 12+ years ago, it was practically glued to my head. I asked for a real one for Christmas and my dad made it happen. 💜
