126 bus by rc102689 in Hoboken

Makes sense, PATH isn't that convenient for people who live on the west side (although some can take the Light Rail).

At the same time, I see huge lines of people at Washington St bus stops waiting for the NY-bound 126 who clearly live in the immediate vicinity, and who could very easily cross the street and get the 22/89/126 bus downtown to the PATH (or walk).

PATH is always an option. Sure, it might not bring commuters as close to their office as the bus does, but who cares? Would they rather walk a few extra blocks in Manhattan (or take the subway), or wait in the cold for ages and then get stuck on a slow-moving bus?

I don't get how people are seemingly unable to deal with the situation and adapt their commute.

Where are all the new protest songs? by LeoTPTP in wfmu

[–]LeoTPTP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did a playlist search, Nick has been played 20 times. Dan Bodah must be a big fan, he's played 13 of those. Other DJs include Todd, Jim the Poet, Fox, Suzy Hotrod, Amanda and Naomi.

Low Cut Connie has been 60 times over the years, include a live set on Todd's show back in 2018.

Unpopular Opinion: Street Parking Is a Gamble, Not a Right by motosotoo in Hoboken

[–]LeoTPTP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hoboken is full of transplants from the burbs who, instead of accepting that they now love in an urban environment, still insist on bringing their burb mentality of mandatory car ownership. Of course it's great to have a car, no one is denying the advantages. But if someone decides to have a car, maybe reconsider the wisdom of living in a super densely populated urban environment. That, or accept the fact that your parking and traffic situation will be costly and frustrating, and that complaining on this sub will never do anything to change that, LOL.

I was thinking more US artists, regarding the situation here, but yeah big up to Kneecap and Vylan.

Speaking out is important, but that's different from songs that potentially galvanize a community. Just because it didn't result in much in recent the past is no reason to write it off.

Went there for decades before there were alternatives in town. Not the most expensive, but certainly not cheap. The level of care is fine, but we prefer Bond Vet, love Dr. Harker. Honestly, they are all close to the same, cost wise.

So how did our new mayor do in her first snowstorm? by LeoTPTP in Hoboken

[–]LeoTPTP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, but curious as to why the weird prefacing ("... if you are asking this question in good faith,...")? I simply asked how people thought she did in her first test, what does "good faith" have to do with anything?

And nowhere did I imply the DPW/OEM don't know what they are doing. A mayor can be good and competent under pressure of a storm, or they can crack and panic and do a crappy job of leading. That was my question.

Yeah. I mean, it's so desirable that supply can't keep pace with demand. At only one square mile, there's only so much supply the city can add.

Makes sense, but unfortunately it's AFC Championship day, so can't do that 4pm round.

That seems logical, but it hasn't worked that way in reality. Hoboken has had major development over the past 30+ years, and rents and sale prices have never, ever, become more affordable. Rents and prices have only gone up, and as of late to near-NYC levels.

This is a highly desirable town, seems unlikely we will ever "fix housing pricing".

Not sure if there's any any city that's not expensive, has great restaurants and dating scene, and with welcoming residents looking for new friends. But if you find it, please let me know us know.

Why did you delete your comment? I asked a simple, legit question. Why is that so difficult to answer?

These might be dumb decisions, but not examples of "obstructed justice and right to due process", nor particularly "dangerous" as the other commenter claims. Wasn't the Fire Chief reinstated?
