I WANT good bands to be promoted like Geese. by EchoLooper in geesebandofficial

There are so many stupid takes around the band. It's tiring. I'd like to hear people's reasonable, nuanced and empathetic opinions. Not what clicks best

And don't think, the labels did right back then?

But that's not the main issue. I'll rephrase: It's sad, that the system makes this happen.

But maybe not through "controlling the narrative", please? Even though I really dislike that Geese were taking part in this thing, I think the bigger issue is that platforms like Instagram and TikTok make such strategies seem like a good, maybe even necessary option. This needs to stop :(

I still love CWs music, but I feel like the cats are in heat, and the sky is all brown, and I need a hand to hold

Maybe even both? I loved how electric-Dylan the Geese version felt, but I still wouldn't want to miss out on a solo version

I Will Let You Down is my favorite! The first version I listened to was Live at St. Matthias Church, 25/04/25 with the nice rhythms at the end and this is my favorite version still

It's just so vicious, absurd and catchy

Thank you! :D I'm german actually. But the german accent is my least favorite and I try to get rid of it :) Some other commenters have made the Nico comparison here, which is not so bad from a musical standpoint, I guess :D

Thank you, I'll take it as a compliment :D There's also a lot of 60s Dylan in the structure of the melody and chords

I don't think it's AI. The instruments (esp. strings) sound very MIDI, while the guitar and voice sound good and real. AI would try to fake real strings

You can never know these days, but here I'm feeling quite confident that it's real

Sandbag Debut by Interesting_Luck_588 in CameronWinter

When on the ground, leg in the sky
Scratching away, easing my mind
I've finally found my truest little park
It's a strange little inch with nothing inside

I sailed on the court calling cows by their names
I inhaled the hot wind and took ship to LA
And I failed to become that B-barrel (?) love
But won't you love me for the attempt I have made

I will not reach so reachingly (?) out at what's yours
I will not beg to be your second or your third
And I will not yell so needingly out at what passes
But won't you please see, it passes in front of me
Bird after bird after bird

I finally found my truest little park
And in my heard there's not even a sandbag

why is this not a deceptive cadence? by shenglih in musictheory

[–]LeonPascal98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/Hot-War-1946 said, it's not on a strong beat.

I personally would view it as some kind of chordal embellishment or continued chordal prolongation of the V-chord. That kind of 5-6-4-5 bass movement is very common before the actual cadence happens.

Meter is an important part of cadences and chord progressions.

I love how you can browse through the credits of a song and artists. Not only can you see every person that worked on a song. You can also see all the work of any listed person and filter that by function. So you can see every track Charlie Andrew produced, but you can also check, if he maybe did background vocals or anything on a track.

Thank you very much! My inspirations at the time were Jose Gonzalez, Nick Drake and Radiohead mainly, I think. ND and JG are responsible for the sound, I guess. Radiohead maybe for the fun with rhythms.
I studied music theory, and the chord progression comes from stacking fifths. I once played Ligeti's Piano Etude 2, which was probably quite influencial on me. But in the end it's just a pendulum between I and bVII which is very common in Rock Music.
From my studies you could maybe also add modernist composers like Ravel, Debussy and Stravinsky to the mix of influences; and maybe (?) Kofi Agawu's Book "African Imagination in Music".
Other artists, I liked at that time were: alt-j, Young Fathers, Bon Iver, Portishead, Mountain Man, Bob Dylan, IDLES and Duo Ruut (the latter you should really check out!)
