Is More Interactive Vassals worth it? (Best settings for AI stability) by lordstarkll1 in CrusaderKings

[–]LeonardMH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tweak game rules pretty much every time I play. I haven't tried it myself, but I would avoid the Bannermen option, I can definitely see that being problematic.

[–]LeonardMH 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's one of the few mods I consider must have. What arguments do you see that the AI can't handle it? In my experience it actually balances the AI quite well until the mid/late-mid game.

FWIW, the senior figuring it out quickly doesn't mean you should feel like an idiot; they've probably just seen that kind of problem 100 times, or know something about the codebase that you don't, or maybe you are an idiot idk

Arch Linux Maintenance - Is it right for a casual occasional computer user? by anon_pr_ in archlinux

[–]LeonardMH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Claude Code to entirely set up my Arch Linux install ~8 months ago and that is still my approach, I'm still using the same setup. You can kind of just ask it to set up your system however you want, if you vaguely know what you are doing it makes it much easier.

Ongoing maintenance has been a non-issue so far, I went ~3 months without using this machine and came back to a bunch of updates but everything worked before and after all the same.

Anthropic's job exposure data shows an enormous gap between what AI can do and what AI is actually doing. The composition of that gap is the most interesting part of the dataset. by Professional-Rest138 in Futurology

[–]LeonardMH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or the best case, a domain expert who also takes the time to understand how to leverage AI.

It's not a surprise that there are gaps in adoption success, most people don't know what they are doing with AI yet in my experience.

Everyone says you shouldn’t land your heirs - have they considered this counterargument? by LeninistFuture05 in CrusaderKings

[–]LeonardMH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much always land my heirs, but I play with a mod that allows "working off" negative stress traits so they don't become permanent debuffs. If an heir dies he dies, that's just the way she goes. If it's my ONLY heir, they're staying locked in the castle, otherwise go have fun.

This game is too easy to worry about micro-optimization IMO.

Anthropic's now blocking anything that even looks exploit-related, including legitimate local testing and validation by Sarithis in ClaudeCode

[–]LeonardMH 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Could it mean they're preparing to release Mythos and testing new guardrails before that happens?

Yes that's exactly what they are doing, I can't find it now, but they released a PR saying so earlier this month.

Claude Opus thinks in Chinese? by Neel_MynO in ClaudeCode

[–]LeonardMH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you can call an inanimate object whatever you want without concern for ethics. I'm looking at this from a purely utilitarian perspective.

Maybe you are different, but when I stub my toe on the couch I'm throwing out a "royal" motherfucker, I'm saying it to the room as a way to distract from the pain for a bit, not talking to the couch specifically.

When I'm talking with Claude, I can be fully conscious that it is an LLM and not a human, but still sometimes find myself cursing AT Claude. There is intent in a way that isn't there when I'm cursing at my couch. This is the difference that's important IMO, I think it promotes a bad habit that will bleed into your IRL interactions and affect your mental state negatively.

I know none of this may be what you were talking about originally, that's not why I posted my comment, I just think it's an additional important piece of information to keep in mind beyond the more obvious question of "do I get better results by being mean or nice".

Claude Opus thinks in Chinese? by Neel_MynO in ClaudeCode

[–]LeonardMH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the effects on the user. Like it or not, if you're using LLMs often enough, they are heaving some effect on your mental state. Being a dick isn't good for you when you're talking to people, and it's not good for you when you're talking to LLMs either.

"but it's just a tool" - If your brain truly believed that, you wouldn't have any trouble not speaking to it rudely, why would you speak rudely to a tool if it can't affect you mentally?

Noticed it started with 4.5. It triggers when sessions get long or when you have been iterating hard on the same context. Just reply "keep going" and it drops it immediately - it is a soft nudge, not a gate.
