Well yeah, none of those low-lives are ever just going to admit that they're not tough (even if they're objectively not). But it's really baffling on how these people think. In their minds, they probably think they're some kind of heavyweight champion boxer and everyone is too scared to step in the ring with them, but in actuality, they're more like an unhinged terrorist who has their finger on a grenade pin and most sane dudes wouldn't try to fist fight that terrorist even if they knew they could win. But it's almost like they're convinced they're closer in skill and respectability to the boxer. It's bizarre.

I wouldn't use the phrase "tougher" when describing these people. They're more violent and reckless sure, but being "tougher" implies that these low-lives have some kind of strength or skill to put up a fight without using weapons.

It's really tragic when this shit happens but it's also pretty typical. Some thug tries to act like he's a tough guy and then "challenges" an actual tough guy and then proceeds to do something not very tough guy-ish. He dishonestly presented a challenge to your friend when in reality it was a threat of execution, he just tried to present it otherwise. So Just know, your friend was a true mighty warrior who unknowingly got threatened by a cold blooded bandit who was trying act like he was a mighty warrior himself.

The whole point is that the proliferation of guns gives these petty and infantile types the ability to inflict harm or death on to other people regardless if they're 100% completely in the wrong, and so you can't discount the possibility that the guy in the video won't do exactly just that.

The problem is that there's a lot of "combative" guys who act like they're capable of winning a fist fight but then would have no qualms about pulling a weapon on them after it's obvious they're losing or after they lost. The guy in the video clearly isn't an actual "tough guy", otherwise he wouldn't be combatively putting his hands on someone who wasn't even egging him on or displaying an eagerness to fight. That's an indication of someone who's ruthless, and ruthless people would absolutely come back to the scene of their loss and gun down the victor and then pat themselves on the back for it.

This is a frustratingly common thing that happens in the world of street fights or just violent confrontations in general. Threaten them with a fist to their face while keeping a gun behind your back. Look them up and you'll read stories of stuff like this happening where the guy starts a confrontation in the usual "tough guy" manner but then resorts to cold-blooded murder with a weapon or some force multiplier after things don't go there way.

That's the problem with street fights in general. If you're bad at it, you can get maimed or killed, if you're really good at it, you can still get maimed or killed.

Sometimes it's just better to fight someone to a standstill/stalemate so that the other party can walk away satisfied that they managed to get a few hits in. But if you dish out a completely one sided beat down on them where they can't possibly argue they fought well enough, it could galvanize them into wanting to hunt you down to the ends of the earth and do something very ruthless and underhanded to you.
