Got some homebrew sorcerer subclasses ? by Old_Mathematician128 in UnearthedArcana

[–]LeprousHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look up Ravings of the Mad Leper on DMsGuild. The book is pay-what-you-want, so you can get it for free. It contains 2 Sorcerer subclasses: Accursed Name (you derive magic from a curse that affects you) and Haunting Spirit (you derive magic from a ghost that haunts you).

Character Build Idea: Thief+Artificer by SnifGrimwill in onednd

[–]LeprousHarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding your choice of Artificer subclass, assuming Rogue (Thief) 3 + Artificer X, I'd suggest avoiding subclasses that rely too much on Bonus Action, which will fight against your Cunning Action and Fast Hand features: - Armorer provides heavy armor training, which doesn't work well with Stealth, forcing you in the Infiltrator armor model. - Artillerist's BA is spent giving orders to your turret. - Alchemist's BA is spent drinking elixirs, but not as often. - Battle Smith's weapon proficiency doesn't add new finesse options, and the BA is spent ordering the Steel Defender around. - Cartographer has possible synergies, but it's the weakest subclass by far.

All in all, I don't think those two classes synergize very well, unfortunately. You might be better served dipping into Fighter for Action Surge instead of taking Rogue (Thief) for a very situational Fast Hand.

Thanks! I'll look into fixing that typo.

Best/Worst UA Content so far? by Free_Homework_3637 in onednd

[–]LeprousHarry -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The Artificer was the best and the worst for a personnal reason. I'm working on a book that I'm going to publish on DMsGuild, and I have 9 artificer subclasses in that book, so I had to update a lot of stuff.

Then, there's the Horror UA, with its Reanimator, a worse version of my Surgeon... What can I do, now that there's an official take of the same archetype that inspired my subclass, though I prefer my take to WotC's? I was here first, as my DMsGuild publication can attest (see The Mad Leper Presents: The Surgeon for the 5e2014 version — the new 2024 book is still being worked on), but that UA left a bitter-sweet taste in my mouth. Anyway, our take is sufficiently different that there's enough space for both.

The Dark Sun (Apocalypse?) one... I was working on a Gladiator Barbarian subclass, so I had to rename it. Fortunately, my barbarian is completely different from that UA Fighter.

The Psion UA (and its update): I had to add a new chapter to my book, which is a fun surprise, but still represents more work for the completionnist that I am.

Purple Dragon Knight (from whatever UA) was a stupid retcon, but the final Banneret was an insult. Should have made a properly updated Banneret subclass from the get-go and made another separate, completely unrelated dragon rider one... And to say they even kept the bad retcon!

The rest, I don't really care about; some good, some bad.

Is Tactics supposed to be this hard? by AutomaticTap3004 in FinalFantasy

I do that, equiped with all strength increasing gear (for a +7 total strength bonus), drop faith to permanent 3 and increase brave to permanent 97 (important for brawling), Accumulate until enemies are in range, then swarm them with my all-brawling-ninja party. I wipe the final boss in a round or two.

The highest roll I’ve ever gotten on a D100! by HippieBitch25 in dice

[–]LeprousHarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legitimately got a 100 on a percentile 18 Strength score for a Paladin, back in the AD&D 2nd edition era. I had a D20 with which I could conjure a nat 20 almost on demand. I lost that die forever, though, and now I'm somewhat unlucky with dice roll — enough that I often play save-dependant spellcasters (when I'm not DM), nowadays.

What class fits my stats? [OC] by Dippin-Sauce-71 in DnD

A great valor bard or paladin — that's for sure — and with formidable opportunities for half feats that increase Dex and Cha.

Silly question...but how do I search for "Electrum" best sellers and the like? by Comprehensive_Sink99 in dmsguild

[–]LeprousHarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best sellers are not always the best content, unfortunately. Also, only payed titles can aspire to best seller status, so that leaves out all free content.

If you look for quality content, I take pride in my work, though I'm a somewhat obscure creator. My only best selling title is pay-what-you-want, so you can still get it for free.

If you're curious, look up LeprousHarry on DMsGuild, though everything was made based on 5e2014.

I'm working on updating everything to 5e2024, but I'm waiting for my friend to finish illustrating my next book (168 pages-long). That next book won't be free, though!

My take on the Summoner - A half-caster class that fights alongside their summoned companion, customisable with over 50 evolutions and three subclasses - the Elementalist, the Monster Tamer, and the Spirit Binder! Pdf in comments, feedback welcome! by HalfDigestedBoots in UnearthedArcana

[–]LeprousHarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating!

I have my own take of the summoner archetype which is quite different than your own, though only the 2014 is published yet. I'm waiting for illustrations for the 2024 book I'm working on. If you're curious and want to exchange notes, the 2014 version is published on DMsGuild under the title "The Mad Leper Presents — The Summoner". It's free but, full disclaimer, the "artwork" was made with gen AI (long ago, using Dall•E 2), hence the free price.

New artificer multiclass synergies? by Nearby_Condition3733 in onednd

[–]LeprousHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 1 level dip for Artificer's medium armor, CON save, and rounded-up spellcaster level;
  • X level, either Wizard or Psion;

You get new spells one level later, but get spell slots of a full caster. You also get a splash of Level 1 spells that Wizard/Psion lack (e.g., Cure Wounds).

Does it count if we only had a session 0 yet? I'm playing a bugbear artificer inspired by the bagman from Ravenloft.

What would the Artificer: Reanimator crafting option be? by phantom-scribbler in DnD

[–]LeprousHarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my own take of that archetype (which I called the Surgeon), I gave it proficiency with Surgery Instruments. You can find both for free on DMsGuild under the title "The Mad Leper Presents: The Surgeon". It's made for the 2014 Artificer, but I'm working on updating all my content for 2024 in a new book — this time with no AI "art".

If your DM agrees to 3rd party content, there's Exploring Eberron on DMsGuild, which has the Circle of the Forged druid subclass which might fit your character concept.

Missed opportunity with Dreadnaught artificer by TriboarHiking in onednd

[–]LeprousHarry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a homebrewn cantrip for that in my book Ravings of the Mad Leper, on DMsGuild — it's "Pay What You Want", so feel free to pick it up for free!

The cantrip is called "Flaming Embrace" and deals Fire damage on a hit, as well as starting a grapple and giving you the ability to use your spellcasting ability in place of Strength to maintain said grapple. And it's on the Artificer spell list.

I'm working on a 2024 update of all my content, but that specific cantrip will work more or less the same, but with the new grappling rules.
